Didn't know where else to put this.
For the saga play by post forum, can the swear filter be disabled? Particularly in the d20 modern campaign it's annoying when you try to swear and the filter substitutes "Kuladen".

:2funny: really ... what better word is there?
lol! i'd change it for you, but i got fired.
*pokes the XO*
I f***ing hate the language filter.
Even though I've already gotten in trouble for this..
f*** that Motherf***ing Language Filter
A - f***ing - men.
a= anaris?
a= noamuth?
:-\
It can't be removed for a single forum.
Sorry.
I'm almost positive this has now turned into a forum for gratuitous profanity. Which was sorely needed around here.
Huzzah.
Oh yeah.. F***
So next question...
Why's it on for the whole board? Was there ever a poll or anything?
It was discussed during the set up of the whole forum. Somewhat.
There are those members whom feel uncomfortable around profanity. For them, it is a sensitive issue, and rather than have them pointed out and a whole big drama-filled froohaha started over the whole thing ...
OMG!! CENSORSHIP ... omg my freedom to say f*u*c*k every other word if I wish to has been taken away! AHHHHHHHHHH!!
OMG! I have the freedom to not have to see or hear it if I don't want to AHHHHHH
OMG! Why are you being such a fecking PRUDE! We're all ADULTS here ...
OMG! Don't you realize you can express yourself without saying filthy things? Why can't you be sensitive to how I feel?
OMG! Words are only FILTHY if you think they are ... Why can't you be sensitive to my right to express myself?
Etc etc etc etc Ad infinitum ad nauseum
And no, I'm not mocking anyone in specific on this forum. The above is the same Tired Old Drama that occurs on ~every~ forum I have ever admin'd, mod'ed, or been a member of that used filters.
I opted for and pushed for the executive decision of enabling it the filter. It's not a strong filter. At all. If someone simply ~must~ bypass it for whatever reason, it's certainly doable. It's the closest compromise that can be met ... well, other than pointing towards a Forum Rule that declares you must be considerate of others when posting. ;) Edited to add: Well, other than finding and/or coding a modification to the forum software that allows for individual preferences when it comes to such filtering ... which I can attempt to do ... but that will cost much in the way of time on my part and many gifts on other people's parts :P
And no ... Web Neenjer has ~not~ had coffee yet .... grumpgrumpgrump
I'm not a curser by nature. I've been posting here for how many months now and just now noticed there was one?
In the context of the d20 modern campaign, which is special agent / James Bond / Mission impossible kinda stuff, the occasional swear word fits nicely. If some head bad guy shoots a civilian in the lungs because he wants something you have, it's lame to have to call him a big meanie pants.
I can switch to British curses, but that doesn't fit the character. I could use arabic curses, but I'd have to look them up and no one would know wtf I was saying anyways.
Can I request a revisitation of this topic, phrased as the ability to curse on the boards, but a general recommendation not to? So far as I know, we're all 18+.
Testing code ...
f**k f**k Namae ass Kuladen
Testing more code ...
fuckity fuckass
Loverly ... works now.
Well, maybe. Hopping back on Ime to continue testing.
Yep.
Works now.
SO!
Individual members now have the ability to turn the Filter off or on in their Personal Control Panel.
Personal Control Panel --> Look and Layout Preferences --> Leave words uncensored.
This does ~not~ mean that if you turn it off that everyone will be able to see your words unfiltered. This ~does~ mean that if you turn it off ~you~ will see your words and everyone else's unfiltered. Those who choose to keep it on will continue seeing filtered words where applicable.
No need to revisit the issue ...
Oh!
And I expect tribute in the form of Bonus XP, k thx la~ :P
I'll give her my 500 points of excess XP! :smitten:
Yay! Thanks Ime.
America! f**k YEAH!
Thank you, Ime.
I'm all for everyone's choice, but I am one of those that don't like to see it and since it was my final word when we created the boards, I went with it.
This is a perfect way to make it work.
And I'm sorry my prudeness was causing issues in the campaign. It wasn't my intent.
Now get down with your Kuladen selves!
Wow... i was absolutely not taking this thread seriously. I never really minded one way or the other.
But I'll f***ing swear now that I can. f**k yeah.
lol
Does his tail know he swears this much?
omg there were swear words that would show up as "Kuladen" before? *giggles*
hehe. thought you might find that funny. :)
A little update here: I was poking around on my board preferences because I wanted to remove my quick reply. There is an option where you can leave words uncensored and it does work. So poke around in there, and you can disable it for yourself.

Oops, I was late to the party then! Oh well. :)
Is all good ... I'm often late for most everything ... to Tan's extreme dismay :2funny:
