Convert *.TGA image files to regular ol' JPEG?
Any sort of *free* converter software out there?
Just about any picture editor out there except MS Paint opens these with no problems. If you're truly desperate, you can open them with Windows Media Player 11, then take a screenshot of the entire screen, then dump it into MS Paint.
That's just the problem. I don't have any editor on my PC other than MSPaint. Only thing I can view them in is Quicktime, but won't let me re-save as anything else.
Bring out the GIMP:

It's free and might be able to do the job.

Can you take a screenshot (Shift+PrtScr) when you have them showing in Quicktime? Then open MS Paint and paste it in there. Then cut out the part you don't need then save as JPG?
Eureka!

I've used that one, it's a good little tool. Makes nice slide-show type screensavers too, from memory!
