.. that's how long the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team has been in existance. 38 years. My dad watched them as a child, and listened to a man named Joe Tate announce for them on the radio. FOr 20 years I have watched and listened to them, for 5 years straight, as a child, I would fall asleep all basketball season with my headphones on listening to Joe Tate, the same man my father listened to. I would keep a shcedule in my back pocket for weeks before the season ever started.
And tonite, for the first time ever, I got to hear the man who has been the voice of the Cavaliers since their inception say
" The Cavs are going to the NBA finals. "
You don't have to care about sports. And you don't have to care about your city. But in everyone, there has to be some part, that cares when they witness history being made, whether it be the tragic, or the glorious, the mighty or the insignificant.
I heard history being made tonite. I will tell my children about it. I will always remember where I was.
*CHEERS!!!!!*
I felt the same way a few years ago when the Red Sox won the World Series. And again before that when the Pats won their first Superbowl. Congrats.
