Title: Fun with stick figures (OOTS style!)
Post by: Korg Ironhand on July 23, 2007, 02:32:29 AM
Hey, all. I saw Gnarsh's oots figure the other day and thought it looked like a lot of fun to do! So I followed the links, and then gave it a shot myself. And yeah, it WAS fun! heh.

First up is my old character on Istaria (gosh, I can't even remember if that's the name of the game anymore), Zieg the Ranger.

Next up is Korg.

Wish I knew how to just add a picture on this site, but I is computer unliterate that way.

I only got around to two, but like I said, that was actually fun!

Haha, I especially like the Korg one :)

For anyone else who wants to have fun, here's the guide...

It was Zieg Farstrider. And I adored him. *nod* Or Tira did. uhmm...

The game: Horizons ;)

Now I'll go look at your stick figures :kia

wow! I just looked over the tutorial and I'm doubly impressed with both Syll AND Korgie.

Nice!

Eventually I'll find the time to do Zhapaja...she deserves to be OOTS'd.  Not sure Tira could handle it.  I might do Lyrima from VG...she's definitely OOTS material.

thanks for the tutorial link!

And Korgie...I love them both, but I think I like the Korg one best :kia

Ah, Horizons. That's it. Yeah, Zieg was the first one I did. Learned a couple of tricks doing that one, plus the fact that there was no real distinguishable features for Zieg. Everything was personality with him, so he ended up pretty much generic in the pic. Heck, with Korg there was so much history, I had to leave some gags out or the pic would have been too cluttered!

I love your Aura's ears, Namae.  Just couldn't figure out the arc lines.  And you seriously got the boobs/belly just right! And the hands! Geesh.  I loove Aura but I love the feel of Zhapaja...I think the wild fingers and the spidery handwriting for 'go boom' exactly capture it.

hahah!

Fun stuff :)

What the heck.  I'll throw in my 2 coppers.  Here's Jasyn, from EQ2, OoTS style:

I would have dressed him in his "Rangers Do It With Ale" T-Shirt, but... um...
It was at the cleaners.  Yeah.  That's it.   :P

Ah, thanks!

I love the energy/pose of your Zhapaja. She really does 'Go Boom!'  :bm1 :bm2 :bm4 :bm3

Aura is based on a combination of Samantha, Haley, an elf chick I saw in the OotS comic somewhere. The only really original touch is her hair and her magic swirl, honestly.

The curve tool in MS paint is a little weird to use because it's not intuitive. You need to make 4 clicks for it to be finished. The first two set the endpoints for the curve, and the next two set two points on the curve. I think I'll do another OotS. That first one was fun, and I need an avatar on the GitP forums!

And Jasyn is cool! I love the hair highlights and bow!  :hwt

Jasyn is Fabulous!  You folks are TALENTED.

And Namae...who ever that is above here... WOW.  It is fun..I showed Zhappy to my children, and in showing my son MS Paint we figured out the curves.  He immediately wanted to try too, of course.

Who knew MSPaint had so much fun in it? I read the first FAQ from Syll's handy links.  It is an amazing program.

It's pretty fun! :) MS Paint is a great tool for going simple work with pictures that doesn't involve lots of shading or effects. It's definately a tool I would recommend for people that don't know a lot about CG art (vectors, rasters, layers, etc.) but want to learn.

The character is named "Tokiko Mima" and I use her as an alias a lot of times.  She's a girl who believes she is a robot, and no one else believes her. However, her grandfather (who happens to be a master roboticist) encourages this belief and with his dying breath tells her that she can become human if she wins the friendship of 30,000 people. So she heads to Tokyo, Japan with a little bit of money, no where to stay, and no idea how you would make so many people your friend. Key: The Metal Idol a very cool story if you like a bit of sci-fi, lots of drama and old-ish anime. I highly recommend it!

Hmm... now I'm out of ideas for people to do. Anyone have a character they'd like to see converted into OotS format?

Aen!  Renei !! Sapphros !!  Aun !

OUT of people to do? You just got STARTED !!  :ana

Hmm... Aen is out, kinda.. aside from her hair she looks too much like Miko and I don't want to draw even more comparisons. Besides, she would look like something you had already seen done.

Sapphros is good, but she wears a dress like I already did for Key and Aura. I wanna do something different.

Aun is a giant lizard, and I'd get the proportions all wrong. Maybe later, though.

I did enjoy Renei, however.

Does this (http://sagafamily.org/gallery/15_24_07_07_3_59_04.bmp) bear any resemblance to a Monk you might have known?  :D

...So her grandfather encourages this mental illness and gives her a near impossible task to fix a problem that never existed. Someone call Child Services and rat this sicko out!  :2funny:

Ha, this is all great stuff! I like the different "tricks" everyone are using, such as Jasyn's hair highlights. I can't think of any characters to do at the moment, but when I do I'm giving it another go!

Well, that would depend. I mean, I can assure that he had a good reason. This is kinda like what Obi-Wan Kenobi did with Luke Skywalker. He mislead (i.e. 'truth from another point of view' other than one you understand  :P ) in a way that would eventually lead to a final discovery of a truth one could not have faced if one knew from the onset.

It's the kinda thing you can only do in stories because it requires you accurately predict the future in detail. Besides, her grandfather is dead literally minutes into the 15 episode story arc. CPS's reach is long, but it doesn't extend into the afterlife!  :buck2:

Um. yah.

*turns to Namae*

LOOOOVED Renei! I adore her expression/eyebrows the most.  You are goood at this :)

And Syll's Goblin is fantastic too.  Really good. Just wish he was bigger!
