Title: Hello all!
Post by: Drevant on June 20, 2009, 12:12:12 PM

Just thought I would post a little blurb about myself, as, while I love RP as you know, I do think a little bit of OOC getting to know you doesn't hurt at all, so here goes. :)

I'm a twenty-five year old student in Aberdeen, Scotland working toward a doctorate in archaeology (Though I am originally from Illinois ;) ).  I have played many, many MMOs in the past including, UO on Great Lakes, Everquest on Karana and FV, Dark Age of Camelot on Nimue, SWG on Kettemoor, World of Warcraft, and occassional time on a few others.  Before this I have only been affiliated with two guilds, as I mostly have been a solo player in the past, and tend to hit it pretty hard when I do.  That being said, I have to say that my experience during the first week in Saga has been great, and even better than I expected; as I've made a few friends and am getting to know mostly everyone, though some of you still elude me. *grin*

Anyway, I have a very odd student-ish sleeping schedule that ends up being closer to EST then GMT, but I am ever the insomniac. :p

Hope to see everyone around more in game, and look forward to interacting; and of course, I am always looking forward to roleplay, from anyone, even if I don't know you. ;)  That is indeed an invitation.

I can't help but wonder if there are any matches in that gaming history though.

((Hello Drevant!  Welcome to Saga!  I've seen your name around, but don't believe we've meet.  I'm EST, usually play between 8pm-11pm.  Archeology!   Very cool!  I played EQ on Karana too...waaayyy back when!  From about March 2000 until EQ2 went live in...2004, I think.  I never played UO, SWG, DaOC or Wow, but I did dabble in Vanguard and AD&D Online for about a month.  (gotta love those free trial periods.../grin)

See you in Norrath!))

Hi Drevant!  :wv

I'm PST, and for the moment I find myself playing pretty much at any given time except evenings and weekends.  My MMO experience has mostly been whatever game my brother's playing, I follow him there.  He's the one I should blame for getting us addicted to these games, damn him!

I was on EQ FV for years, first with an RP guild, then guildless for a long time, then with a raiding guild for like a month before I quit the game.  I moved on to Shadowbane when it launched, which I played for about six months or so on the player-designated RP server.   I played Lineage 2 for a bit when it launched.  I started playing EQ2 at launch, then took a couple of years off.  I played WoW on and off for a bit on different servers.  I played Vanguard for like two days.  Same for Guild Wars.  And now I'm back to EQ2 and I ain't leavin' till I see all of it!

Looking forward to more RP exchanges with you!  I promise not to make you join me on more painful, hour-long camps for GRAY mobs like the other day.  Maybe.  Though I can't imagine you'd still want to follow my adventuring suggestions after that...  *grin*

Hello all!

Good idea Drevant :)

Let's see, I opened my career in gaming with Asheron's Call; very very few people here have played it.  It remains my favorite of all games for several reasons.  I moved on to AC2 and then Horizons.  Horizons is my heart of games...in part because it was there I met Halagren (aka Wysard, Blaek and Terim) and in part because it was in HZ that I truly started to RP.  After Horizons, I followed Halagren around while we awaited the launch of EQ2.  We dabbled in EQ1.  There was a time between AC and HZ when I visited DAoC, but I never did really enjoy it.   I've wandered over to VG and AoC since starting EQ2..pretty much where ever Halagren goes, I will follow.  We've been gaming together for nigh unto 7 years and we've been a RL couple for 5 years.

So...

I am a 42 year old momma of a 12 yo daughter and 10 yo son.  I've spent most of my career as a teacher.  Just this Spring my school closed and I'm heading back to grad school for a certificate in school leadership.  Hoping this time next year I'll have a job in administration.

This next year will be filled with classes, subbing and spending more time at my children's school, all things to which I'm looking forward.

My gaming is incredibly sporadic. Currently it looks like I might start logging ig w/o Halagren, but who knows how long that will last.  I'm not a reliable group member because I can quickly and instantly fall asleep at the keyboard, jerking awake with Lyrima running into a wall or a mob.  Halagren is used to that and we survive it.  But I'm a painful person with whom to group as a result.  If you've the tolerance for my sudden departures and don't mind getting all set up to do something and then have me log, then I'm happy to join you.  Heh.

I'm really not antisocial.  I just hate to inconvenience folks.  I never know when it will be a late night or a 20 minute night, yanno?

Cheers!

Welcome, lad!

I started roleplaying in computer games long before Al Gore invented the internet.  My little brother introduced me to Pools of Radiance (the first and best version).  I actually did have personalities for each of the characters I controlled and cried when my little band of adventurers wiped.  Perhaps that is where I learned to love alts.  Many many years later I started playing EQ1 for a year or thereabouts before moving to EQ2 with Bahl, who is my RL sweetie.  We also went to Vanguard for an extended stay and AoC for a shorter one before returning to EQ2.

In real life I am the 48 year old mother of a 17 year old and a 16 year old, which is why I get called away to pick kids up more often than I do to kiss a boo-boo.  I am self-employed as an attorney doing mostly family law, which explains why unwinding in Norrath is so attractive.  Bahl and I live in a little town in the state of Washington.

Thanks for all the replies. :)  Though some are still being shy.  :ana

Karana eh?  Well, if you ever saw a wood elf bard named Talesin, that would have been a very young me, having just discovered MMOs.  I was briefly in a guild called Divine Fire there.

And no worries Bella, I did have fun, and I have an iron constitution when it comes to long, grinding quests or camping times.  I always enjoy the back and forth roleplaying anyway, if you hadn't noticed.  ;)

I am a mammal based life form from Planet Earth aged thirty-mumble; I live in England though I spent some time in Seattle and round the US.  I first saw EQ (and Saga's earlier incarnation) when ex used to play, I wondered what was the big deal about the game, and then decided to try my hand at it.  I actually played the Xegony server in a Tier'Dal guild there, and have hopped about in gaming since, to EQ2 in Ira Dei, to Vanguard (briefly),  CoH/CoV, WoW, Classic EQ again, private servers (best rp I have had was on private servers as naughty as they are), and then back to EQ2 which feels like a completely new game these days.

I've been a lot of things: writer (yes I'm published, no, it isn't anything major), welder, dancer, vagabond, bouncer, blacksmith, list goes on.  Now I live in Salisbury with my young son wth autism working two jobs at home as I'm suffering from ME/CFS and a few other things which I won't bore you with details about - but it's why I tend to have to leave to sleep a lot.

SPOILER BELOW, SCROLL QUICKLY PAST

And for those of you who absolutely MUST know (for some reason I haven't quite understood men are more okay knowing this, though it doesn't change the character any), I'm a chick, not a bloke.  But I play a damn good bloke, I must say...You'd be amazed how many women play blokes and just don't say anything - I know I was when I started out, but it's a great way to avoid voice and the persistent "Ohhh what a sexy British accent you have" on-the-pull commentary when you just want to group or do stuff.  When I'm online I am Vorenn both IC and OOC in a strange, writery way. so you'll probably forget my gender in a few days regardless, which suits me!
