Yeah, seriously, it's me.
In a fit of extreme geekishness I googled a couple of the more obscure MMO names I've ever used, partly wondering if anyone else was using them, and I found this page. I'm blown away that some of my oldest RP is still on this site. I didn't even post it - it was ported over here as a historical artifact I can only assume. Like I said - umm...hi.
I was watching The Guild recently. Well, all of it. I finally got around to that. I'm sure to most of you it's old news, but I haven't been playing anything in some time and so I wasn't quite as motivated. Got lots of RL stuff going on. Haven't had time for gaming.
I don't have a clue what else to say. I just had to register an account to check in. I'm stunned at the names I still recall. Stunned to find you still active under the banner of "Saga" and stunned I can still place the names. You know I don't know what any of your voices sound like? I left Saga before anyone was on teamspeak. I remember when we formed the bloody guild, with Tuppen as the founding leader, and seriously debated calling it "Starspurned." Well, that and other things, but I can't remember all the options. At the time I thought it unlikely that Saga was available, considering that guildnames in EQ1 had to be unique across all servers.
God damn. I don't even know what to say. I may be in the market for a game of some kind around April or May of next year. I'll certainly be looking here for suggestions.

I love posts like this. SO glad you said Hi Valquiss, although I don't know you and probably never did. Here's hoping I do get to meet you next year!

Awww - hi Menemas! You know, I completely forgot how Sky became my signature raid. Though taking down the Keeper of Souls was a real accomplishment. I recall that somehow I managed to take the death touch the one time we killed it. Tempted to call myself Skymarshall again at some point.
And thanks Lyrima. We may have met briefly if you were there in very early EQ2. Somehow that never jelled for me. I think I played ... Kort? I made a lot of the guild's early armor, anyway. I remember racing around to help raise the 2 gold pieces or some idiotic sum that was required to even create a guild on first launch. It seemed very urgent somehow.
It is good to stop by, in any case. I doubt I have it in me to return to old territory and play EQ2 again. But if there's any move to expand the guild to any newer game on the market I'd love to play with old guildies - even if our connection is largely conceptual.
And hey - I notice there's a "once Saga always Saga" rule in effect! I'll be glad to strain the outer margins of that rule, and set some kind of record on reclaiming membership. :viking2:

There's always some game that others are keeping a Saga guild in. Aion is the latest of interest, although I don't know that Saga has been created there yet.

It's good to see you again, Valquiss! It doesn't seem like that long, but it's been ages since Trader's Union disbanded into Starspun, and then Starspun became Saga. Like Lyrima says, I kinda hope we'll always be here, in some form or another.

Hi Allen! Yeah, I remember Kedge Keep. Man, there was always something about Saga that pushed us to go places long before it was really a good idea. Underwater zones with no persistent water breathing items ... not a fantastic idea. But it was fun!
I'll find time to game in the future - possibly even before the summer. It depends more on finding the right game than anything else. Can't bring myself to play just anything. And I definitely have a preference for something new. But as of right now I definitely feel like I'll be back before too long.
I've got a fair number of happy EQ memories. I think maybe my most amusing one, in hindsight, is when there was some kind of guild crisis (might even have been Starspun at the time, surrounding the eventual break up) and you and others actually had to physically come to Kelethin so we could group up and discuss it. I remember sitting around in the trees in a circle. This, of course, is before controllable channels. Before one heck of a lot of social interface options that would eliminate the need for that.
It's a little like riding the boat. Hard to explain why it was necessary long after the fact. And you wouldn't want to go back to it. But all the same, it carries a bit of nostalgia.

I loved Kedge Keep! One of the last things I did as Eliezer on EQ1 was solo him a few times for the epic part... I can't remember if I ever got it :-p
I remember the big deal that was made about Valquiss when in Dark Elf form.
And how Nina hated him for that.
And how if it wasn't for Valquiss, Nina wouldn't have ever become Epical and obtained her Holy Water Sprinkler.
But she did, thanks to you and the rest of Saga.

Awww, I totally forgot about that! I mean, I remember the epic (Saga didn't manage too many of those) but I forgot about the Dark Elf illusion. It was one of my major Saga concessions to those who took a harder line stance on "we're the good guys" RP than I tend to. Any time I was grouped with evils I tended to sit around in dark elf form. I was so scrupulous about it there were a few evil types who thought I was evil. But zoning was a pain in the ass. And I think I used to RP that form illusions altered my personality somewhat - but I can't recall if that was consistent or just an isolated thing.
Aww, good memories. Miss you Nina. Don't be surprised if I try to drag you into a game at some point. Wouldn't do it against your will, of course, but I reserve the right to issue invitations. =)
