Finally get into EQ2 and enjoy myself. Look forward to going ig all day...do so...
Find that my sounds are static-y and broken up. Exit everything and restart computer.
Won't restart.

Critical error.
Turn it off, leave it off, try again.
Boots to windows and asks if I want to send an error report. I do.
IE wondow opens up telling me my computer sent a corrupted report, which is very rare and very scary. I need to back everything up. I start to do that using the wizard.
My thumb drive fills, I insert another, everything locks up. Completely. Can't do a freaking thing.
Shut it down.
I'm so freaking tired of this damn computer crashing on me. :tickedoff:
I'm scared that --yet again-- I'm going to lose all my pictures and documents. It is enough that I"m considering putting this one in the basement and buying a new, less fancy, dell.
:( :( :( :( :(
In the meantime, I have to try to get this computer up and running, grab my pictures and documents and back up my calendar and then do what needs to be done to fix it.
ARGH.
I have it up and running.
I've backed up my document and outlook files.
Working on the pictures.
This is so frustrating. I hate it.
I'll attempt EQ2 (again) when my pictures are rescued.
Still considering getting a new desktop from Dell. At least with dell I've never EVER had these issues :(
Friggin ABS.

Big hug for the gal with computer woes.
Suggestion: Get yourself an external hard drive, move all your personal stuff to the external and keep it there. Then when the imminent death of the PC comes, you won't have to worry about your personal files going *poof*.
I got myself a 1 Terabyte drive a couple years ago. Plugs in via USB or Firewire. I pointed my entire My Documents folder to the root folder of the external. Cool part about this one is that it automatically goes to sleep when you turn the computer off.

I should, I know.
See, I did, last year.
And backed up EVERYTHING.
I was so happy, particularly when the usual crashing started happening.
guess what? The friggin external hard drive failed.
Lost --literally-- everything.
I'm still trying to emotionally recover from the loss of the pictures of my children.
What I did was move everything to my daughter's laptop. Before my excursion with the aforementioned external h/d I'd always backed up on another computer. I'm going back to that strategy.
Just remembering losing all those pictures makes me want to throw up, even now.
I did send the h/d off to be investigated and the folks to whom I sent it said they could do nothing. I have it back and I'm considering sending it off again.
Sorry for your loss. I know first hand how badly that can suck.
You could do what my anal retentive friend does: he has 4 separate external drives and does monthly rotating backups. When the drives aren't in use, they're stored in his fire safe. Worst case scenario, he'd only be out the most recent month's worth of data.
:BH: -4-Grimaldo!!
But if there's fire in it, how safe can it be? :p
Lyri I'm with ya. The last time I had issues I just up and called Namae, who walked me through said issue for like an hour. *Hugs Namae, and Lyri, and Grimmy*
So sorry you lost everything, Lyri. 8(
