I will be going and would be happy to meet you!
I am not sure if we ever played EQ or EQ2 together, but I hope that doesn't matter.  :-)

Guides are not generally allowed to reveal the player characters they play with, or vice versa. In addition, they are supposed to never play on a server they are Guiding. It's to make sure there's no perception of favoritism and everything stays above board. So of course, raid guilds sometimes make a hobby of tracking down the PC's of guides on their server in order to get special favors, in a manner eerily similar to the behavior of prisoners with long sentences getting to know as much as they can about guards.

Aye....I can tell you I'm a guide, but I can not tell you my guide character or the server on which I guide.

Last year I went as my guide character also, but didn't stop me from signing the Saga placard.  Renei signed it also, but I never met up with her.

Volunteer Guide FAQ (https://guide.station.sony.com/guideapp/faq.php)

Quote
Q:    What is a Guide?
A:    A Guide is a volunteer representative of Sony Online Entertainment. We are here to support the players of EverQuest, EverQuest II, EQMac, and EverQuest Online Adventures by helping to create the most immersive and enjoyable role-playing experience possible. We travel the lands in search of players to converse with, as well as run Dynamic Quests, answer circles and conduct wedding ceremonies when requested.

Q:    What do Guides do?
A:    Guides are volunteer players whose focus it is to enhance the gaming experience of the players via role-play, events, and quests.

More Q&A at the link above.

Guides sometimes show up at special player events, like the Festival of Unity, and give out special items like peppers that make you breath fire when you eat them.  They're that spicy.  Or they hand out special quests such as the New Halas prelude quest (as was the case during the past couple of weeks before an NPC was put to work to do it instead).  Or they might be a certain dwarf who holds an ale tasting competition in Qeynos Harbor, awarding the winner a keg of his Finest.  If you ever see one, they will typically have a glowing green ring around their feet and a guild tag of Guides of the Shattered Lands, but sometimes you never know...

The dwarf guide that frequents Qeynos usually has a green quest feather. It seems to be an effect on their guide hats.

Yeah.  I don't think they had the quest feather cap yet back when I met him.  As a matter of fact, the keg he awarded was originally much larger than it is currently, then one day it shrank on me.  BUT that's when you could start clicking it for the nifty drinking animation (without all of the negative burry-eyed alcohol effects.

*waves at Allen/Tuppen*

I'll be going too, along with now 6 ft. tall sons and husband. I want to be there when Allen finally loses his Fan Faire virginity. :)

Wow--Menemas, Namae, Tira, and Deneteth! *races around hugging all the familiar faces--and the rest of their bodies, too*

Judging from the attendees list, Allen is the only one I'll know (other than our Froglok family--Pirrip, Dirrin, Birrik, and my adopted Ratonga son Scrik). There's NO ONE registered from FV, which is a sad departure from the last year I went when FV totally owned the Fan Faire. I'll keep my fingers crossed that others here can go!

Oh, by the way, just a quick note here--my Beloved of Bristlebane in EQ II is named Elsbet. :)

:D You should see Saga's Guild hall on AB server (It's in South Qeynos)! Elsbet Squishytoes is our Raid Flag NPC. It's a tough job, but it keeps her closest to the altar of Bristlebane in the next room. Or rather.. where the altar would be, if it wasn't immediately stolen every time we try and place one. *sigh*

She's also (last time I checked) the Morag Tong's banker. It must be so hard for a elderly halfling to keep herself afloat in these troubling post-Shattering days.

*sigh*

Now I wish I were bound for FanFaire, and I desperately want some of Elsie's pies......yum!
