Title: Dutch Goth Rock!
Post by: Askari on July 16, 2010, 10:05:49 PM
I was wandering around YouTube tonight and came across a live video from a Dutch band I really like, which I hadn't seen before.

I first heard the band "Within Temptation" when they did a trailer for the MMORPG Chronicles of Spellborn a couple years ago. Sharon den Adel is one of my all-time my fave rocker chicks.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share in case there are any other people who haven't heard of them, but enjoy goth/prog rock with awesome female vocals. Closest American band would probably be Evanescence.

I think my fave Within Temptaion is still the first thing of theirs I saw, the game trailer for "The Chronicles of Spellborn".

The mmorpg connection is what made me think to post about them here. After TCOS went free-to-play, I downloaded it and played it for a few weeks. I liked the post-apocalyptic fantasy idea and some of the novel game mechanics, but the content wasn't good enough or copious enough to keep me interested.

Another great band of this style, which doesn't get much play in America, is Lacuna Coil (an Italian band). If you like Evenescence and Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil is worth a listen.
