When I leave, it'll be for World of Darkness once it becomes an MMO:

Won't be out till 2012 so naturally a lot can surface between now and then, but this is the only MMO that I find remotely interesting should I play another game. Granted, I'm only going by the lore and gameplay of the Vampire:Masquerade rpg... I always found it fascinating.
As for EQ2, I'm extremely busy these days. And the game, quite frankly, is not holding my interest much. I have zero desire to learn/try a new mmo, however, so Norrath will still be my world should I want to blow something up. I've got a paid sub for another year so I'll be poking my head in and out of Norrath sporadically till August 2011.
Anyway... Vampire: The Masquerade in two years! Yay! :bdg
Yay! Love the World of Darkness mythos! I hope CCP makes something cool out of it. They did some great things with EvE, even though that game certainly isn't for everyone and was too PvP-centric for me.
It definitely looks "rated M for mature", which it should be for a game centered around vampires.
Ooooh, I likes the vampires!
I'll look into this, but as of now The Secret World and the Star Wars Old Republic look like ones I'll get into O0
Unless something blows my mind, I might be done with the "fantasy" setting MMO's, Elves and Orcs and whatnots ;)
I will have to look into the World of Darkness game , for me it will pretty much depend on which edition/printing they base the game off. I played in a VtM LARP for around 8 years , I love the lore and history. Between the Book of Nod and alot of the clanbooks I have read a good bit of the lore. If they base the MMO on the latest printings though and the whole "final nights" stuff I doubt I will play , stopped LARPing when they came out with that too. Our entire vampire LARP fell apart when they released those rules , though someone was recently discussing starting up a cross genre White Wolf LARP.
Just looked at that site Bella and you may have just killed MMOs for me ... I saw the "Hello Kitty Online" being released this year >.< .... I did watch the trailer for WoD though , I must say I do like the thought of getting to play a Gangrel or Nosferatu again ... though if they use the new system then Gangrel will likely be out.
Oh shush it, Janthos. You know you heart the Hai Kitty! ;D
I never read any of the latest printings. I stopped following Masquerade somewhere in 1999, but I didn't read the revised version. I never LARPed but had a lot of friends who did (and for whom I made costumes). I did, however, create characters and bios, just for the hell of it.
Gangrel is one of my favorite Clans, so I certainly hope they don't cut them off. Now, what would be really cool is if they had villain playable races. Wouldn't mind being a Werewolf...though Gangrel would be the next best thing...
There's just so much wonderfulness that can come out of this mmo if they do it right... We'll see!
My vote is still for a Stargate MMO. Unlimited possibilities for expansion and it already has a fan base. The made 3 series from the movie , so there has to be a following. I did hear that they tried making one but ran out of money. I just think it would be awesome ... go through one stargate and you are in a fantasy set world , the next takes you to a high tech world .... just so many possibilities.
As for making playable villans for the vampire MMO , honestly they don't need them. Vampires kill off enough of their own kind without having players playing monster type creatures to do it. Though a cross genre game would be interesting , even though the starting werewolf would rip apart most starting vampires.

My vote is still for a Stargate MMO.
I think I kind of like this idea. O0
This World of Darkness MMORPG, and Secret World, are both very very close to what I would like to try...I love fantasy and all, but breaking that up with a couple of years of vampriric or Lovecraftian goodness would be really nice. I actually liked a lot about Anarchy Online for this very reason....man does not live by one genre alone....
I will also second that I hope they go with the original clans/camarilla themes....great and classic. But I would take a long look at the newer lore too. I just want it to be a really good game. (Nothing against Rifts, or others, which I will keep an eye on as well....just would ideally like a fresh genre.)
Hey OOZ! Miss you!
Stargate Worlds are accepting applications for Beta at the moment... http://www.stargateworlds.com/ (http://www.stargateworlds.com/)
Stargate could be cool, but if I were to win PowerBall I would ratchet the idea up a notch. Sort of Stargate meets Avatar (the movie).
My game would be sci-fi, set a few hundred years in the future on Earth. Earth's ecology has taken a serious downturn while the population has exploded. But three scientific advances have come into play.
First, an extremely small segment of the adult population has the proper brain-wave signature to allow their consciousness to be transferred into artificially created bodies.
Second, robotoics and cloning have reached levels were cybernetic/organic receptacle bodies can be very advanced/specialized.
Third, we've recently stolen dimensional travel technology from an ancient and failing race. These other dimensions can be very Earthlike, or follow completely different laws of physics.
So the gist of the game is that you are part of the elite chosen few who act as agents/explorers/plunderers of other dimensions in specialized engineered bodies. Look, it's a fantasy dimension...<poof> you're an orc with a club, your mission is to go rescue some scientists captured by a local warlock. Try to bring back some of that fancy glowing ore while you're at it.
Look it's a civilization of cyborgs with laser guns...<poof> you're a cyborg, go steal a technology sample to help our Earth survive.
Like Stargate, the possibilities are huge. But unlike Stargate, character advancement and customization would be much more diverse and interesting.
You'd have a set of stats and skills associated with various types of dimesnions and artificial bodies. So you'd level your affinity to certain body types and physical realities. For instance, if you are a newbie agent who's never been to a high tech dimension before, they're only going to give you a very basic robot body with very basic abilities. You'll be like Bender from Futurama. As you level and prove yourself in that field, you'll unlock more advanced body options and abilities, becoming more like The Terminator, or even eventually like the liquid metal T1000.
Some of that experience would carry over to other dimensions, but some of it wouldn't. If you reach max level in robot form and decide to start doing missions in a low-tech/magic dimension, they're not going to make you be an orc with a club. But your affinity for advanced bodies and magic will not be devleoped, so you'd still need to go through the ranks to become a mighty wizard.
The game would be about doing missions to help Earth (steal technology, rescue other agents/explorers/scientists, recon new worlds, bring back resources, etc). There would also be storylines in several major dimensions to encourage long campaigns in certain specific key dimensions/worlds.
The advancement would be about proving yourself to the Earth agency running this show, so that you have access to more body options (both cosmetic and functional). This would also result in more responsibility and more complex missions. Also, the more time you spend in a certain physical reality with a certain style of body, the more attuned you are to it and the better you can utilize its bells and whistles.
Crafting would be about building body options and equipment that could be traded to other players and would utilize combat loot drops. Ideally the housing and social scene back at Earth HQ would be very excellent. The chosen few of Earth capable of being agents are possibly the key to survival of the human race, so have great facilities and entertainment for your downtime. You can hang in your original body, show off the bodies you use in various dimensions, or have specific fun bodies you wear just to hit the clubs during R&R.
Ahh, if only I had money to develop a game! It would be so much fun!
