I'm thinking of signing up for this so I can mess around with DC Online for only $5 more a month.
I'm shocked that they're swallowing that large of a price reduction. I'm further shocked they're offering additional fee discounts for pre-paying on the longer term options on top of that--not to mention they're actually offering longer term plans. Changes have been long overdue. Hopefully, they've stopped unintentionally making their Station/All Access subscribers feel like second-rate citizens, but with a substantial discountlike that, I suppose they can keep it up and feel less guilty about it now. Guilt. Feelings. I know I'm making assumptions.
Lovingly Signed,
A Former Station Access Subscriber
You mean I could play DCUO (which I paid for then gave up in disgust as being unplayable after 1 month), EQ1 and EQ2 for one single low low monthly payment? Ooh, where do I sign up?
Oh, wait, I only have enough time to play one game at a time (that happens to be Rift right now), and I can't even do that since the stupid telecom monopoly we have hasn't yet installed my telephone/ADSL line (8 weeks and counting) because 'there isn't a port available'. That's their latest excuse at least.
Still, it is a tempting offer, especially since I never got to try Vanguard or SWG as well.
No....can't do it....one game at a time, can barely keep up when I am able to play.
DCUO runs rather...poorly...on my system, which does NOT suck, by any stretch (it can seamlessly run Age of Conan - which is now free-to-play, amusingly - at High setting, so I know it isn't my hardware). Normally in a game like that, I have at least created the avatars I want to try playing and left them to sleep while I run one or two through the game. I have made all of four DCUO toons, and three are sitting right where they were when they came out of the tutorial. Playing the last one of them is a...slow...process. If one of their games gets the axe, this will likely be a candidate - sharing profits and all that.
Vanguard is a good game, even though all but one of my playable toons is still on the Isle of Dawn (several that would otherwise be playable are on now-inactive accounts) - and trust me, you DO want to start on the IoD. The beginning gear is just too good not to get. And be aware, also, that it is likely never going to be updated or another expansion made for it (should you not have been aware of that already).
Star Wars Galaxies...half year, then it's gone, unless you want to try the free-to-play Liberty server at swgemu.com (in which case, you don't need the All Access, anyways). The emulator has no player housing, and they're still working on some profession tweaks, but this all-volunteer effort is entirely donation-driven, and best of all, it's pre-NGE/CU.
So if you like the idea of Star Wars Galaxies, and are indifferent about Vanguard, save your money.
