Title: Using your secret identity in public
Post by: Mixxi on August 19, 2011, 09:57:14 AM
Anybody ever give their character's name to the barista/deli sandwich maker? Something very satisfying about hearing that name called out in a crowded room of non-gamers.  :)

I once went home with a friend from gaming. I was playing, at the time, a character with a very believable real world name.  She used it in the morning.

Not exactly a "game name in public" story, but one I've never forgotten.

:ponders: Now you've got me thinking about going to Starbucks just so I can say "Quince Flutterfoot" ...

I always thought "Lyrima" and "Kiaria" are too game like and would be a pain to spell.

I could use Tira though :D

AH HA! That means you've thought about it!

That's somehow very romantic. At least I would think it's romantic.

I don't think I presented the point of this story properly.  The thing is she was genuinely mistaken.  Early morning, true.  I was using an in game name that a normal person might have, also true.  But she just flat out got my name wrong.
