Saga ~ Our Online Roleplaying Family

We've got a golden oldie coming back who still for reasons of his own hasn't navigated his way here  >:( but owing to his insane record keeping I've just seen evidence that we were all still in Starspun as of January 17, 2002 at the very least.  I think that was very near the end.  But I need to know if anyone knows or is aware of a way to find out exactly when Saga was formed on Firiona Vie.

Our ten year anniversary is approaching.  I think it's going to be especially important in TOR which will be (God and Bioware willing) newly launched around that time.  But it should obviously be celebrated everywhere and anywhere there is Saga.  Maybe even those not in any incarnation of the guild at present might lift a glass on the date.

So here's the critical question.  Does anyone know when that date actually is?  =)

Approximately March 13th 2002.  I KNOW the exact date is around here somewhere.....I just forget where.  However, I know that the actual guild creation happened during Spring Break my sophomore year at school, and I was away for spring training.......

I wasn't part of either of the first signings for Starspun or Saga.
Starspun, because I was a dwarf, and couldn't get to Rivervale. I was active on the boards with my journal and then finally Ankels snuck up on me in Kaladim and tagged me, and neither of us spoke each other's language. Good Times.
Saga, because I was the placeholder Guildleader of Starspun until Ankels came back from break while Tuppen et al formed Saga.

Bah - that's splitting hairs.  You were a founding member of both.

In March 2012, whenever the hell we finally pin the day down, we're going to have a server shattering anniversary party in SW:TOR.  I don't even know what that'll mean yet - but people are going to be talking about it for the next ten years.

If you want someone to talk for 10 years straight, I nominate PoNoa and PoTira.

I thought some of Ye Auld Tymers of Saga might get a kick out of this, so I'm sharing, and this seems like as good a thread as any to slap this in considering it's the thread that inspired my noodling.  :)

It was a bit of a shock considering it's been a while since Geocities bit the dust, taking volumes of pages down with it, but according to http://www.geocities.ws, it seems there is a massive project underway to create an archive of restored geocities sites, and Saga's made the cut.

The geocities link was how I used to find our old forums when I was home from school on breaks, because the random PCs didn't have the bookmark!  I remember the address stopped working at some point.  Good to know its back.

You still have that! Wow. Even Saran, the halfling from Japan who kept falling asleep in game because he was 12 hours off from everyone.

So many funny things there. Like having to tell people you were zoning and would miss a few lines of chat. And all that human tongue...ick.

Oh my goodness. It's really getting me misty-eyed.

Does anyone have records of the founding in EQ2? I'd love to see that, too, because I know for sure I wasn't there.

Never knew them in that incarnation, but I surely  knew them from HZ and EQ2.

This is the oldest pic I seem to have, dated 4 March 2002. I was grouped with Dondi, Bindi and Kearrey at the wedding of Keshu and Mixxi. Elsbet and Tuppen are in the pic as well. :)

This Arion was already my second incarnation, the first being a human wizard based in Qeynos. I was at the Starspun formation with the first one.

I completely remember that day...I can't believe that it was over nine years ago! As far as the number of clients, they come and go. Though I will always remember my first customer -- Mixxi!

I have a horrible work schedule this week, but as soon as I can, I'll get some pictures uploaded.
Nina was a Grandmaster Sketcher after all.

On a related note, Saga has a Mumble server now. That's thanks to Raven who certainly deserves "most active new guildie" kudos. It's a great program and I'd endorse downloading it. I'll see about advertising it more prominently very soon but for now the details are in the TOR area somewhere.
