Title: [TOR] Welcome Althion! {RC}
Post by: Althion on September 24, 2011, 07:36:17 AM
I happened across the Saga guild recruitment thread over at SW:TOR and thought I'd poke around a bit more.  It was tough reading the informative FAQ - I was busy doing my "Launch Announcement" happy dance!

Saga sounds excellent!  I love smaller guilds of friends who like to integrate themselves with the story of each game they play.  I was with a similar group in DAoC, World of Warcraft and into LotRO.  Sadly, we have parted ways because the 10 of us had different schedules.  So here I am looking for a home come December -- or maybe I could bump into some of you later this week?  ;)

SW:TOR is what I hoped SWG would be.  I suspect I will play the game for a long time, like I did with Warcraft.  I like being a team player and roleplaying as I adventure through the worlds the developers give us.  Generally I play goodie goodie characters with some sort of support class.  My favorite part of gaming is small group adventures - questing and instances.  But I also like to dabble in crafting and pvp.  I like hanging out in cantinas/inns for brief periods (30 minutes or so usually) but find that online chat is a terrible medium to try and convey complex character stories - so I don't do a lot of IC drama.

For SW:TOR, my main character concept is a togruta jedi consular (probably telekinetic if crowd control is important; if not then shadow for evasion tanking) who learns to subdue his primal passions as a togruta to follow the jedi ways.  If we can't play togruta out the gate, I will probably play a mirialan and re-roll togruta if/when they become available.

That is until jawas become available - then I will be Darth Meep!  :uglystupid2:  Although I felt guilty trying to make dark side choices back in Knights of the Old Republic.  So although the sith inquisitor looks flashier than the jedi consular, I prefer good aligned characters.

I hope to see you all in game one day long long ago!

Hullo! Good to hear from you! I particularly agree with the statements above. And if Jawas become playable maybe we can start an evil Jawa-only alt guild.

I'd like to reserve the name Darth Poodoo for my Jawa Marauder.   :pms

Welcome Althion!

Jawas are the little creatures with the mobile chop shop, right? Where Luke gets C3PO and R2D2?

Hello and welcome. :)

Thank you for the warm welcomes.

Noa - jawas are indeed the little brown critters who have the mobile chop shops.  Come to think of it, jawas ran the first big box stores!

I doubt jawas would be a playable race, but as someone who generally plays hobbits, gnomes and dwarves, jawas are a funny daydream.  I like silly characters - Emett Kelly, Red Skelton, Abott and Costello, the Three Stooges and Buster Keaton are some classic favorites.

Thank you Althion, today I've learned who Emett Kelly is.
Welcome to Saga.
Don't mind Noa. She has an Ewok village in her living room.

Yay! Another player of properly-proportioned races!

Welcome indeed.  We'll fill up a mug of ale for you and set out the pipeweed.

Welcome Althion - I'm very glad you found our forum here!  You certainly seem popular already, but then we have an entire not-so-secret society of short race appreciators here.  I've replied on the TOR forums, so for here I'll just say "welcome!" along with everyone else.

Successfully got in touch on the TOR forum and clarified that Althion had, without realizing it, fulfilled most of our applications process.  Really just lacking the part where he clicked the "apply" button.  So he's all recruited up now and I'm turning this into our "welcome" thread in the roster area.

Again, welcome!

Welcome!   Think I could get a sexy Jawa companion in a bikini?  or is it gonna be all brown robes :'(

Welcome! Playable Jawas would be amazing! My main character in WOW is a dwarf, and I played a dwarf briefly in Rift as well. SWTOR for all its awesomness is definitely lacking in the area of diminutive options for player characters.

Welcome!

I, too, enjoy dabbling with the races of lesser physical stature. Although I never fully committed to it, I'd use my gnomish illusion all the time in EQ. That counts, right?

Will I get bonus cookies if I play a human who is short-ish?  Or is there some minimum level/height ratio that I need to achieve?

Nope. Gfaux Gnomes don't count.
Though if you have hair in any place other then the top of your head, that counts a bit.

I am not divulging where my character has or does not have hair.

And welcome Althion too, considering I didn't say so before.  ;D

The word 'Gnarflings' makes me want to loosely base a proportionally superior hybridized race after these two chaps:

Name: Althion
Race: Human (Corellian)
Gender: Male
Class: Jedi Consular
Crafting Skill: Biochem

Do you have alternate characters?
Yes, Bada Sho - togrutan Jedi Knight and Vark Becmitre, scoundrel at large.

How did you hear of us?

I had the fortunate timing to see the Saga recruitment thread within the first 3 pages of guild recruitment posts one day.

Is there anyone you have gotten to know from our family, IC or OOC?

What Roleplay games have you participated in?

Has anyone played Tales from the Floating Vagabond?  It was a pen and paper roleplaying game produced by Avalon Hill.  The premise is that your character steps into an establishment looking to buy alcohol.  As you step through the door, you are sucked through a multidimensional portal into the bar called "The Floating Vagabond".  You save the bar and universe from such evils as the Space Nazis, a group of abolitionists who have slogans such as "We don't drink, so neither should you."  It is a hilarious game that is sadly out of print.  It is well worth finding a copy though!

Earthdawn is another of my favorite pen and paper games.  I also played D&D when it came in a red box and elf was a class, not a race.  I loved RPing a wookie in Star Wars.  Back in the pen and paper game, one character was designated as the one who could understand you.  When you were co-located, you could speak normally.  When they were out of range or unconscious, you had to grunt and growl.  My wookie was very excitable and had a habit of running off after stuff that interested him.  Oh the good old days!

I have RPed in many online games too - SWG, DAoC, WoW, RIFT, etc.

What are you looking for as a member of our guild?

A group of friends with whom I can share adventures and fun times in whatever game we choose to play.  I put a lot of effort into looking for a good guild and hope it transcends online gaming into real friendships.

Have you read and agree to our Guild Policies and Guidelines?

I have read the policies and guidelines.  Further, I agree to abide by them.

Please answer the following three questions, IN CHARACTER:  The following answers are for Althion.

1. Tell us of your past.

Althion calls Corellia home.  He was noticed by Jedi Master Droga Sho, who sponsored Althion's admittance into the Temple on Coruscant.  After serving as a youngling, Master Sho took Althion as a padawan learner and brought him back to Corellia for further training.  However, unlike most Corellian Jedi, Master Sho was known to look beyond the Corellian sector and to the Republic as a greater sphere of influence.  Althion had just left for training on Corellia when the Sith strike on Coruscant took place.  Both Master Sho and Althion realize that in the wake of the Sith invasion, it was time to think of the Republic.  They worked to keep Corellia tied to the Republic lest their home be separated and conquered.

Master Droga Sho was known to take in other species as padawans - a practice not always popular with the Corellian Jedis who liked to focus on their own sector of the galaxy.  However, his teachings were to follow the Force and the good actions and results would speak for themselves.  He also was known to take on padawans with various skills and focuses, believing that all Jedi need to learn from one another.  This strong sensing of the force, rather than application to specific techniques was a hallmark of the Sho lineage of Jedi Masters.

2. What hobbies and directives do you presently have?

As a junior Knight, Althion is looking to establish himself within the Jedi order.  While he would love to focus on the Corellian Sector, he realizes that now is a time of crisis and the Republic needs the support of Jedi everywhere.  His passion is replacing the knowledge lost when the Sith sacked the Temple on Coruscant.  Although, Althion would like to see the archives dispersed at various locations as a safety precaution.

When Althion has a bit of free time, he can be found wandering over hill and through dale with a traveller's pack and walking staff.  He enjoys camping and exploring in the wilds, where he feels closer to the Living Force.

3. Where do you see yourself in the future?

Althion would like to be part of the Corellian Jedi force with allies across the galaxy.  He would like to become one of the principle knowledge keepers on Corellia.
