Is this real? lol. They actually added the Kung Fu Panda as a race into WoW? That would be really lame if it were true.

I'm still not entirely sure if this is a joke...

Funny thing is they actually announced Pandaren as a race during April Fool's this year (or was it last year?) but yes, it is true. I anticipate ninja turtles for the next expansion. You might laugh at that but it is entirely possible.

Next thing you know they'll add something truly silly like cow-people based on Native Americans. Oh wait...

Id be lying if I said this doesnt interest me. Mini game with the non combat pets, new class, pve encounters, account wide achievements , etc but not for now. Maybe in a year or most likely another expansion down the line.
Swtor all the way. Companions, way better ( at least to me it seems more varied and interesting ) crafting, your own ship to call your home and just different approach to story etc.
But diablo 3 will definitely be played along side. Nom nom nom diablo skull from collectors.

I'm just still trying to figure out what they were thinking.

It looks like a cross between Kung fu Panda and Mulan. It's pretty far out there even for WoW. I keep seeing a lot of people defending it saying "It already has talking bulls, why are panda's so far out there?" At least Tauren looked tough. Pandaren look squishy and plump.

Well, the verdict from my 8th-graders is that the pandas look pretty lame, but the "Pokemon thing" might be cool. And I think they were shocked to find it a topic of a teacher-led discussion.  :o

OMG! Are you trying to tell me that teachers have lives outside of school? Heresy!  :P

Heh - that's like the time my 9th graders were playing Magic the Gathering over lunch, and I sat down with one of my classic decks (nothing high-powered, but lots of cards they had never seen because they were "old") and started challenging them.  I had never seen eyes actually fall out of heads before. :D

Ha! Too cool.  I gave my old cards to my brother who's in college now (15 years age difference). Most of my cards were 3rd edition. I always sucked at MTG though for anything more than casual games. Plus, by little brother whups my ass whenever he plays me.

Alirrin--I love it! My son sometimes faces off against his high school history teacher at local tournaments. I think they both get a huge kick out of it.

I have no problem with the panda are in WoW because they fit there now.
With all the Chuck Norris-references and movie-references and such, it's fine. WoW is a game for a group of people. A large group.

Let's not be too critical. Star Wars does have Gamorreans, Gungun, Ewoks, Wookies and Besalisks.

Don't tar all Gungans with the same Jar Jar brush.  There was a boss in Force Unleashed who was a Gungan and he totally pulled off badass.

It took me far too long to check, but the Pandarens date back to 2002 with the release of Warcraft III.

And I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with Gunguns, or JarJar. Just that those are some pretty messed up races as well.

I don't know, Gungans have a perfectly nice design behind them. They aren't a simple anthropomorphized animal and they aren't a classic Star Trek alien with a small piece of putty applied to their forehead. They don't even all have Rastafarian accents - that's really just Jar Jar. :D

Is there any explanation for that choice?  He would have been at least 43% less annoying without it.  (Most of the remainder is the "bumbling idiot" factor. ;) )

Maybe the focus groups had a disproportionate number of Jamaicans?
