Hi from the Jersey Shore
I have to echo the sentiments of Tal when he said it seemed strange welcoming myself but it seems to be working so why break the chain.
On the Tor site my handle is mamagamer. I picked that for two reasons. I started gaming as a young stay at home mother. I had a set of twins and gaming was a cheap form of entertainment in a time when I was cash strapped. My first MMORPG was a game called Ultima Online. I have played several games since then but I trace everything I learned about being a gamer back to that game. I think people that played it understand what I mean when I say you really had to choose what kind of player you were going to be when you played that game. I decided that I did not want to cheat, did not want to take advantage or harass other players and I wanted to be the kind of player that other players trusted and I have tried to play that way in every game since then although not it is not as necessary.
The other reason is kinda corny so I won't get into it here :)
I am a full time mom albeit to teenagers who do not want me around as much. I work full time during the day and attend graduate school at night. Playing is how I relieve stress and enjoy myself. I do not have to drive anywhere to get there. There are no bills and no tests. Woohoo.
I have not gamed since city of villians was released. My rp is a little rusty from lack of use as are my gaming skills. I will get better though and I hope you have the patience to wait for me

Saga Rule. Article MM: Subparagraph 100,000: As children of the corn, we don't resist it. We cultivate it. O0
Welcome home.
Welcome Kali.
We're glad to have you since our supply of corn is rather low.
Lots of hops and barley. Little corn.
Welcome! Got everything sorted now, and you have your shiny blue star to show everyone you're all legit and stuff.
Sorry about any confusion on recruiting procedures. It's a bit haphazard but it works well. Part of it just forces people to be a bit natural and to deal with the confusion, hopefully with good humour. Because that's often a gaming norm, after all.
So again, welcome!
Welcome aboard. Always glad to have a new guild mate.
Sigil / Haimion

and thank you very much. Glad you were watching the boards
Hi. We have to have game skills. Dam it. I will be back. have to go work on that. O0
Hello and welcome!
I agree with what you said concerning UO. I also got my gaming start there. A few days into playing and I was wandering around outside a town and came across this fellow who asked me if I had seen any PKs. I replied, "What's a PK?". Then he killed me.

haha ;D I am sorry to laugh but that is just so UO. My tailor used to collect cotton on the farm. I think it was outside of moonglow just outside the town limits so the guards wouldn't kill them. I would get killed there all the time me and my packhorse.
I tried out UO during the original beta. It was such a mess. It was kinda like hell that you logged into via a 36.6K baud modem. Most of the experience during the beta was like this:
Enter your name and password to log in.
<somename> <somepass>
A screen appears after you log in. You can see your avatar (avatar, ironic, no) on the screen. You are standing in a town square next to some buildings. There are about 20 other avatars around.
After the initial screen loads, nothing happens. You watch as the screen idles for 5 minutes with this static image.
Then 10 minutes...
Then 15 minutes...
Then suddenly, it starts and everything happens at once! Mainly, you see 80% of the avatars say something along these lines:
"OH MY GOD THERE IS SO MUCH LAG"
"LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG"
"WHAT IS HAPPENING?"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH LAAAAAAAG"
Invariably, there would a bunch of people would move at once, and one or two were always avatars running at full speed, in their underwear, zipping across your view shouting "I CANT MOVE!" and they would just wink out of existence (carrier dropped) somewhere before they reached the edge of your screen.
Then there would be 15 minutes of screen freeze again.
It's the screaming phantom avatars in their undies that I'll never forget, even over a decade later.
Sounds a lot like being at the opening of the Dark Portal just before TBC launched at WoW. Oh man... So much lag. ;D
Welcome, Kali, from a fellow newbie to Saga! :wv
Thanks Chryse

That's funny because that is pretty much what it was like when I left there except you would see an occassional this game sucks
Oh, oh, oh! Hi. I am a part time resident of exit 63. But most of the time I live near I-287. Welcome from another new person.

Welcome to Saga guild!
Please be sure to read the posts stickied at the top of this forum and be sure you agree with the rules and charter. This guild has a history, as you will see. It is, well, a Saga.
Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.
To become part of that, please take the time to fill out the attached roster card and post it to this message. This procedure is for the others here who will not see you in TOR so they can get to know you. You do not have to fill the roster card out to be part of Saga in-game. You can do it now or in the future. You can fill one out even if you do not wish to join the larger family. There is no pressure, and no rush. Take your time and look around.
Just a reminder: After your board rank is changed to recruit, you will be granted access to the private game related forums, such as questing and crew skills.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Welcome!

Tell us of your past. I lived on Alpheridies with my parents for a short time until I was taken to the Jedi Academy. This is not abnormal many Miraluka leave but we always return home eventually. My time at the Jedi Academy was quiet. Force sight is not the same. I spent much of my time studying rather than combat training. That is probably why I am not as good as others now. I spent a lot of time studying the Dark Jedi and why they turned. I have come to the conclusion that lack of control of their emotions is one of the contributing factors. I spend most of my time with my one friend. Another Miraluka that did not make it through the Academy instead becoming a Trooper for the Republic. Her mother fell to the dark side when she was a young. I believe my friends struggle to understand why he mother changed is what precipitated my interest that and my own inability to control my emotions. I have struggled with my temper as long as I can remember.
What hobbies and directives do you presently have? I study the body and ways to heal as well as plants and other chemicals that aid in healing. When I can I study in the Jedi Archives the history of fallen Jedi
Where do you see yourself in the future? Back on Alpherides perhaps some day with my friend Avenga.
