Post by: Midnightmoth on November 08, 2011, 04:44:09 AM
Now DCUO has become Free To Play is saga planning on making a guild (league called there) on the US server?
if yes would it be a villain or hero guild?

Interesting. I have a hero named Gith on the US server. Level 30 sorcery with 80 skill pts or so. Full T2 PvE healing and DPS gear as well as T2 PvP healing and DPS gear. I am lacking on the new T3 gear that came out though. Perhaps I will log him on.

I just downloaded the patch and checked out the game. It is now F2P but they make you buy a bunch of upgrades to get your account back to how it used to be. You need to upgrade to legendary account status to access more than 2000 of your money. The rest goes into a "holding" account out of which you can buy your own money for real money if you don't want to pay for the legendary account upgrade. You can no purchase inventory and bank slot increases, which was retarded and that should have been done the first month they launched the game and realized it was a problem.

One new raid. Fortress inner.
Fortress made into a PvP arena.

Not a ton of new stuff really. I did enjoy playing this game but I am probably not going to get back into it other than to mess around a bit here and there.

I tried DCUO out during open beta, and I loved the art, loved the gameplay, but couldn't deal with the UI.  The combat seemed like it was designed by a console gamer and then ported to PC; all those combo moves were starting to give me repetitive stress in my mouse arm.  I ended up not buying the game because of that - it literally was hurting me to play. Sad, because otherwise I was enjoying it.

I tried the F2P for a little bit. I think the costume design was better in Champions, and the flying seemed better in Champions too.

Haven't toyed with it too much yet though.

I've tried the new F2P DCUO and it's certainly different. I don't like clicking the mouse for attacks and wish it had autoattack. And the lag I've experienced has been awful, but I think it's the influx of new players trying the game out and SOE not having the server capacity ready to handle it. You know, normal SOE procedure.

I have a level 4 something-or-other on the PVE server.

Oh, and Midnight, don't hold your breath on the Saga League forming in DCUO. IF it's not SW:TOR, then it's not a priority.

I feel like this might be a problem, depending on perspective.  And if it is, I feel somewhat responsible.  =(

Back on topic, I bought a lifetime subscription to DCUO.   :uglystupid2:  Still not motivated to play it, and haven't been in months.

Given that it is now F2P you might want to figure out if you actually lost money buying a lifetime sub and demand it back. It probably isn't much but it is the principle of the matter. Stupid SOE...

Just how poor is Sony's track record in MMOs?

Yes, it is your fault and you should be hung for three days, have your entrails eaten by wolves, then have what's left of your corpse pulled apart by wild stallions.

Or......

It could just be that Saga is essentially dead in the other games that others of us still play. I mourn in the quiet of the EQ2 guild, but I'm sure there are those that do the same for the Vanguard, World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, etc. I really need to make a decision soon about my Saga tag.

Back on topic (because I derail like a boss), I'm hoping the lag I experience will decrease once SOE gets some fixes taken care of. It has happened in the past with other games that went F2P and I'm sure it will with others in the future. It's a bit of a different beast and you'd think with EQ2X that SOE would be a bit more prepared, but what'cha gonna do?

I played this for a little while. It never really caught me as a lot of other games usually do. I think I mostly got annoyed at was the actual scenery. You were in a city all the time. I never really felt like the scenery changed which is sad because the whole customization system was really good.  ???
