As others have previously said, it does indeed feel a bit weird posting a welcome thread to myself (almost like some kind of strange social experiment), but I do very much enjoy the egotistical massage it's providing, so yay for that. :)
At the moment, my prior gaming credentials are lacking (this is actually my first guild), but I have been playing various MMO's and participating in roleplaying forums since I was a wee little me. So yeah, I'm definitely not a hardcore gamer by any stretch of the imagination; and by that I mean, I've never raided before, or crafted extensively, and with the exception of SWG, I haven't actually hit the level cap. However, depending on how immersive TOR is upon release, I do very much intend on sticking with it for quite some time, and potentially even going farther in it than I have in all my previous MMO experiences.
Okay, so a little about me: I use the pseudonym "Jealous" on the main TOR site as well as here (obviously), and my name in real life is "Beauregard." My husband and I game rather extensively during our free time, so when I am in-game, he'll more than likely be seen by my side. I'm also a twenty-one year old college student working on obtaining my teaching credentials in...something. Oh, and I love giraffes!
So, yeah, that's me... Hi! ;D
Welcome to the guild! It's good to have some more young blood in the guild. I assume they keep us around as fodder to toss at scary things while they run the other direction. :smiley6600:
Welcome! Giraffes are indeed quite awesome.
Welcome aboard. Glad to see you made it in before Bioware closes down the guild pre-launch...Sorry, no giraffes, but will a sheep do? :bah:

I vote science. Particularly Earth Science. Seriously, though, why do you want to be a teacher? (*glares at the piles of ungraded papers sitting on the desk*) Just don't pick English or Language Arts. Grading essays is actually one of the circles of Hell I believe. My primary credential is in English, but you'd never actually catch me teaching it! :)
And welcome to the guild! I'm just grumpy because I frequently am a dwarf, that's all.

Everyone else is too old to actually run. The distraction is a welcome technique of hip bone preservation.
AND--lest I forget--nice to meet you, Jealous! (Don't be yourself. We like to share.)

And quite frequently, writing them, too. :buck2:
(Of course, if it doesn't hurt, then you aren't doing it right!) :P
Welcome to Saga.
Time to brag. Once, for a commercial shoot, I was out in the middle of this wildlife park video taping a giraffe from about 10 away. No fence between us. Really cool.
Will you're husband be joining us too?

No, we get young people. So, us old people can say "back when i was young.........."
By the way welcome. Also here is your white jacket.
HI! I'd make you a hat out of waffles, but I can't move my arms due to our official guild uniform! :uglystupid2:
Have they actually closed down the ability to add people to the guild-prelaunch? I've got several in the pipes still. Then again, I've had a few at almost all times for quite a while now.
Husband did apply, yes, but I'm still talking with him. Assured them we have several mostly functional couples in the guild and to my knowledge association with Saga hasn't killed any marriages yet. If it has, don't tell me. I want to maintain my plausible deniability.
Again, welcome!

I did that one day, and said "Why the hell am I doing this?" I changed my format, and stopped grading homework. I put time at the start of lessons to go over it and answer questions, and noted on my gradebook who had done it and who hadn't. Instead of taking up homework, I started just walking the room while they did practice work, and had time at the start of class for them to ask questions and review. Added in a few short quizzes as "homework verification", and ended up with generally better comprehension and grades, and much less grunt work on my part.
My daughter's math teacher is doing the same this year. It seems to be a growing trend.
Weren't the welcome threads originally Greetings threads that were then edited to be welcome threads by the guild leader?
Oh yay. I feel so warm and welcomed. ;D

Haha. I just deeply enjoy learning and teaching seems to be the closest thing to doing that for a living. I was actually thinking about getting my credential in some kind of Earth science, political science, or physics, though –having to correct and proofread the essays of my peers in high school effectively dissuaded me from ever wanting to touch English with a six foot poking stick. Much respect if you can do that while retaining partial sanity. :)
What grade do you teach, by the way?

Aw, that's so awesome. Some lady was telling me the other day about an animal park near me where you could feed them, but I never really checked it out. I've haven't seen one in person yet -I'm so jealous.
OK, so my giraffe story:
Way back in 1995, I was at ComicCon in San Diego with a bunch of friends. We went to the fabled San Diego Zoo while we were there. All along the path, there were various trivia questions with the answer under a cover, so you could mull the questions over before revealing the answer.
Passing one, a friend read out, "What is the average length of an adult giraffe's tongue?"
With no hesitation, I called out "18 inches."
She opened the cover, then looked at me and asked, "OK, so how the hell did you know that?"
I have absolutely no idea.
And I stick to that story to this day.
Since we're sharing giraffe stories, and I have one (as lame as it is).... Way back in 1982, I had my first & only in person encounter with a giraffe. I still remember the smell.
The End (literally).
Disturbingly Jar-Jar like:

You can feed them by hand at Marine World in Northern California, btw, if you're ever there.
And I teach 6th and 8th grade. *waves*
Welcome Jealous. :)
I can twist balloons into giraffes. But this thread is about you, not me. Welcome to Saga!
I thought this thread was about giraffes!
Hello and welcome. I have no giraffe story.
Tal, you've been demoted.
Hey Jealous! Welcome :D

I have to concur with Jasyn that writing papers is indeed one of the nine circles of hell
Did anyone mention to you that your portrait was out of focus?
Welcome to Saga, Jealous! :wv

I thought it was a mid-portrait-taking sneeze.
Or giraffe saliva. Did it ever occur to you that Jealous might ACTUALLY BE A GIRAFFE?
REALY! Do the tongue thing. Come on just one time, please.

Welcome to Saga guild!
Please be sure to read the posts stickied at the top of this forum and be sure you agree with the rules and charter. This guild has a history, as you will see. It is, well, a Saga.
Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.
To become part of that, please take the time to fill out the attached roster card and post it to this message. This procedure is for the others here who will not see you in TOR so they can get to know you. You do not have to fill the roster card out to be part of Saga in-game. You can do it now or in the future. You can fill one out even if you do not wish to join the larger family. There is no pressure, and no rush. Take your time and look around.
Just a reminder: After your board rank is changed to recruit, you will be granted access to the private game related forums, such as questing and crew skills.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Welcome!
