Greetings Saga, Friends, and Patrons,
I am Bryars Bloodrose....junior..... Bard by trade. Son of my namesake who was known in the day to put on a concert or two. I plan on doing the same in the future, so please, keep an eye AND ear out.
I look forward to meeting and becoming friends with you all.

An older, but no less spectacular, elf stands from his seat in the corner, pulling out a flyer that states in bold letters that the position of Bard is filled and no more would be accepted, when his son lays a hand on the elder's arm and forces him to sit back down.

The slight and rangy Koada'Dal beams as Tanuvan returns to their table. Curling up into a cross-legged position in her chair, she clasps her slim fingers around her husband's hand. Turning her attention to the young bard, she raises a golden eyebrow and dips her head in question.
Indeed, a pleasant voice is assuredly welcome, and songs to stir the imagination. I do not doubt your ability to do so, as my good husband's and your own confidence attest.
You mention a concert ... is this a concert of one? To sing solo is a testament to one's abilities ... but equally so is being able to meld one's voice or music with others to bring about a harmonious whole.
I do so love symphonies!

So ya'd like to hear a song huh? Well I happen to have one jumbling around in my head. Kinda pertient with everyones new desire to bloody their weapons with each others blood instead of some handy gnolls......
((The following song is sung to Safety Dance by Men Without Hats))
<Bryars begins strumming a catchy tune on his lute. Skips and sways around the bar tables scattered about. He keeps playing the tune till he see's most people tapping their foot or watching>
<Bryars Sings>
We can duel if we want to,
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause if your friends don't help and mine don't help
Then they're no worries of mine...
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they'll never find
And we can act like we come from gladiator rings
Leaving the.....real world behind
And we can duel..we can duel
<Bryars begins to dance around the room while singing... Bryars also winks at Anaris when he catches her eye...>
((song is continuing, giving people a chance to react during the song.........if they wish))

and I heard some wonderful music ... did somebody wake
Kuladen up and plug him in???"
He looks around ... notices Kuladen and his son nodding off

on a newcomer wielding a well-worn stringed instrument.
"Welcome friend ... welcome. We ain't had such good lyrics

A quick glance reaffirms the old man is still sleeping.

And thanks for the compliments. I love finding good bars with a good clientel... That..and I love to perform....

You think you're mad, too unstable,
Your skin's not blue and you're knocking down tables,
In a restaurant, in a Dark Elf town,
Call the dragoons there's a madman around,
Running down, underground, to the Blind Fish,

One of the taverns few dark elf residents, Noa looks up from behind her book from the corner. Annoyed by the ruckus of yet another bard, she can't help but roll her eyes at the two koada'dal ladies lapping up the attention from the new-comer and rolls them again at this horrendous rendition of the song she'd heard way to many times in her da's pub.
"Dark elf girls don't date Wood elf boys. Atleast the good girls don't...", as the words of her mother along with the image of her nodding finger come rushing forward in her mind, the girl shudders, half missing the woman, half not.
What does this stupid bard know about tier'dal girls anyway.
Slinking back down into the overstuffed chair, she keeps the overstuffed book just slightly lower than eye-level. A hidden smile slips over her face as her eyes dart through the crowd, landing as they usually do on one particular patron.
((mwhahaha! made the bard speechless. ))

The sharp stattaco raps of a tenor cowbell ring from a corner of the Tavern, matching the beat of the bard's song, weaving in a small melody of its own. The percussionist, previously quiet and unnoticed in her corner, fixes the floor with her gaze and then closes her eyes, grinning a lop-sided grin as she continues to tap out the rhythym.

Rhaethe focuses her deep blue gaze on Sagacity and smiles a broad and slow smile.
Well, if the bard is buying, perhaps a Gin and Juice, if you please ma'am. If you're out of juice, Gin on ice straight will do fine as well.
She then reaches out a hand to shake Sagacity's, small nicks and scars tracing oddly elegant patterns across the tanned skin.
The name is Rhaethe, and I can't say as I've met you either, though I am glad to make your acquaintance now, as this is indeed a fair fine establishment you have. Guilds with short name badges attract my attention y'see. You see so many people out there with these horribly intricately stitched badges. When I see those bopping about with those nifty short ones, well, I figure they must interesting folks to meet. Individual types of individuals. So I seek 'em out to see.
The Fier'Dal then switches her focus to Jasyn and Anaris.
As for more cowbell, well, that bit was just a bit of impromptu bangin' around. I do that every so often. I might be able to bang up another tune, but this here's the bard's show, I reckon. And whiles I've met him in my travels, I can't see as I feel comfortable in just steppin' up without his sayin'. Though it is kinda fortunate that he's here, as I've been a-lookin for him for a bit.

Sagacity mixes up a gin and jumjum juice for Rhaethe, and brings it back to the table for the newcomer.
"A pleasure to meet you! Yep, we got a pretty short guild name, can't get much shorter, really! I mean, I guess it isn't as grand a name as some, maybe I could've joined the Unsung Heroes of the Silver Dragons of Light and Magic of Norrath or somethin' ... but hey, I guess Saga just suits me better."
Sagacity grins mischeviously, places the gin on the table, and smiles again.
"Anyway, welcome, tis a pleasure to meet you."

Oh! I cannot say as I know the bard, really. Just ran into him once't whilst crunching up some gnolls and undead and such. Then, as so things typically go, we then crunched up said gnolls and undead together. These days, if ya happen to be around the same level of learning, you cannot happen to bump into folks more than once I suppose.
Thankye for the invite.
The Fier'Dal smiles and sips her Gin and Juice.

I have. And we can talk details later so's not to spoil the fine company here. But it's an interestin' enough idea, methinks. New at least. And I do like new. You said somewhat then about me doin' a little tune for you ... Was the cowbell enough, you reckon? Or do you, like these other fine folks here, want more?

A fleeting frown mars the perfection of Kiaria's brow momentarily as she listens to the exchange between Rhaethe and Bryars. Suspecting there is more being said than what she hears, the Druid settles back, prepared to await.
Sir Bryars...
She shifts gracefully, putting a decorous space between herself and the bard, also allowing her to see him more fully.
Hast thou, perchance, had the opportunity to visit Templar Flann's temple or Lady Anaris' day spa?

Glancing over at Rhaethe, Kiaria raises an inquiring golden brow.
Thou art going to sing or beat thy cow bell or...?
Her musical voice fades away in embarassment as she realizes she really has no idea what Rhaethe was going to do as entertainment.

Rhaethe takes another sip of her Gin and cocks her head to the side slightly, her frank and appraising gaze now fixed upon Kiaria. She sees the minute details of the Koada'Dals well-masked discomfort and closes her eyes, thinking of some way to relieve it, as it was never her intent.
Under her breath, she curses Bryars in good humor for putting her on such a spotlight ... she was a tank and smith, not a bard. Damn woodelf never said it had to be a public audition to join his Troupe ... Just wanted to drum things .. not sing. Her fingers absently drum the table, instinctively finding different pitches in the plane of the wood. Finding a stattaco pattern, her other hand drums a counterbeat against her boot heel, the resulting melody deep and sensual.
She opens her eyes and continues the sliding beat, all the while fixing Kiaria with her ocean blue gaze.Healer of All? I am reminded of a time I was in Stormhold ... back when I shouldn't have been, but there anyway. And desperately needing a Healer. This, my lady, then, is for you.
She continues to gaze into Kiaria's eyes and begins to sing, her throaty, unschooled tenor clear all the same.(( The following is sung to Prince's When Doves Cry ))
See if you will the picture
Of you and I engaged in a group
The force of your buffs cover me
Can you my darling
Can you join my group?
Come if you can to Stormhold
An ocean of leeches in bloom
Skeletons strike curious poses
They sense us near
They look between me and you
Oh please just don't leave me standing
Alone in a room of red spawn
I swear not to be too demanding
Or keep you up till early dawn.
I'll keep all the aggro on me
Just keep me all purified
We can rest when you want to
This is what it sounds like
When ghouls die
Rhaethe pauses here and continuing to look intently into Kiaria's eyes, she nods in Bryars' direction, inviting him to join with his lute. Edited by: Rhaethe at: 10/2/05 4:15 pm

<He tapes his foot and bobs his head to the beat....His eyes close as Rhaethe begins her song...>

<And plays along with Rhaethe's song>

Rhaethe nods again in Bryars' direction, singing louder and smiling encouragingly at Kiaria.
Heal if you will my health
See how I tremble inside
I've got the aggro all tied up
Don't make me beg you
Even tanks have pride
Oh please just don't leave me standing
Alone in a room of red spawn
I swear not to be too demanding
Or keep you up till early dawn.
I'll keep all the aggro on me
Just keep me all purified
We can rest when you want to

With that, she finishes, and settles back into her chair, again sipping at her Gin.

The Fier'Dal turns to the fudge-nibbling high elf and considers a moment before she speaks.
Me? A bard? No ma'am, I'm not, though it should have been fair obvious a few moments ago. I don't have the what-all to be a bard, really. Me, I bang and bop stuff around, be it drummin things or drummin heads. And that's beggin your pardon for being blunt and not being fine-mannered.
The bard here and I, while crossing paths, chatted and talked and chewed the fat, so to speak. And he has these grand ideas. Which I like, wouldn't mind bein a part of it all. But I have to pass his audition, see.
So's I wrote these dittys, and figured I'd try em out in some local taverns, to see which would work best.
But don't you know ... the first bar I come by has him a sittin right in it.

Imeriel looks at the wood elf and brightens, settling back into her husband's arms. She absently gnaws on a piece of fudge and gives Rhaethe as frank a gaze as she was given.
Ditties as in plural! Ahhh, so you have more than one song prepared, excellent. Perhaps a duet or choral piece perhaps? As I told Bryars, I tend to be more fond of music done in tandem or concert as opposed to solos and soliliquies.
Though, for our own dear Jasyn, we simply must have more cowbell.

Rhaethe sens an accusing glare in Bryars' direction, and then laughs.
Aye. Aye I would. Though I think yon Lady will not be a pleased until she gets her choral piece.
She glances at Imeriel and then at Anaris, then scans the rest of the room.
And methinks a bit of dancing is in order after that little downbeat ballad I attempted earlier.

(( OOC Note: Bryars was contacted for permission to use his emotes and words in the following post.))
Oh! Well then ... here we go.
The Fier'Dal bends over to whisper in the bard's ear. A slow and infectious grin starts to creep across Bryars' face as they confer. After some long moments, the two appear to disagree then agree on some points, and then the whispers fall silent as they appear to come to a satisfied conclusion. Rhaethe turns the the assembled comapny and speaks.Well, seein as how this day seems to be a day of newfound friendships and alliances and such, I figure the day's entertainment should end with a finale of sorts ... a song in honor of one of Saga's own fine members, and a first exercise in duets for Bryars and myself ...
She raises her Gin glass in a toast ...To New Alliances and Friends!
Rhaethe then downs the rest of the drink and turns the glass upside down on the table. Pulling out a spoon, she starts tapping the glass in a sprightly rhythym that Bryars picks up on his Lute.(( Sung to Love Shack by the B-52's ... the parts of Rhaethe and Bryars fairly obvious to those who've heard the song ))

Shaking off her earlier embarrassment at Rhaethe's intense scrutiny, the Koada'dal stands at the first strum of the lute. She knows this is a song which will require a lot of twirling.
Kiaria proceeds to twirl and dance to the music and words, gesturing to Anaris to dance as well. Leaning close to the tiara clad high elf, Kiaria calls something into Anaris' delicate ear, gesturing widely to the musicians.
She steps back, a wide smile on her face, as she awaits Anaris' response.

A stocky blind dwarf makes his way out of the back room, from behind the bar.
He is led by a burning ball of flame, that swirls around dancing into and around his fire-red hair and beard.
Wha' by Brell are ye doin' out 'ere?
Donna ye know this be a no bard zone?
The dwarf "stares" at the two minstrels. Then lets out a hearty laugh.
Yer both welcome 'ere. That fool elf, gesturing to one of two sitting together, there aint much as he once was, no offense to 'im, Alwynn, so it's g'ta have some music aroun' 'ere.
I think they both deserve a free drink, though no mo' fer Jasyn. We aint got an unlimit'd supply.

Sagacity and Rosebud, who've snuck up onto the table top and are dancing together once again regardless of Adeste's wrath, cheer wildly in sync. Adeste rises from her chair to applaud in pleasure. And in the corner, Skrrt even puts down her crackers and cheese for long enough to clap her paws together in appreciation.
