Title: Gaming Conventions
Post by: Kaliala on January 09, 2012, 05:47:19 PM

Well it's that time of the year.  At least for me where I pick a gaming convention so I can dress up and people not laugh at me.   I was wondering if anyone from Saga is planning to attend one this year

Origins is in late May - Columbus Ohio
Gen Con and Dragon Con are both in August.  Gen Con is in Indiana  can't remember where Dragon Con is located

There is another convention that I can't remember the name of right now but it is in August and it's in Toronto.

Right now I plan on trying to go to Toronto because I have a friend there or Origins because that is the one I usually attend.   I have heard that Gen Con is fun but it's in Indiana and I can't get a direct flight there so in the past I've avoided it.  Once I am off the plane I am not getting back on for awhile.

This year I plan on getting to ComicCon in San Diego. July 11th - 15th.
Next year (2013) will be GenCon if D&DvV is released then.

Dragon*Con isn't a gaming convention, per se.  There is all kinds of gaming there, but it is one of many several tracks.  If you want to wear a costume, however, that is the place to be.  I'm a five year vet of D*C, though I'm not going this year.  :'(

I will be attending Emerald City Comic-Con (Seattle, end of March) for sure, with my mini-geek and possibly Mrs Geek in tow.   I also never miss Boardgame Geek (Dallas, mid November). I don't expect I'll be making any others this year.

I have wanted to go to GenCon for years. I did go to the smaller west coast Gencon event in SoCal, when that was still running, but I think a year or two later they killed it off.

I live in Toronto so I will go to that one. I think last year I was working just across the street from the convention centre that weekend and saw all the people dressed up and was thinking "Why am I working right now, damn it!" and didn't get to go :(
