*becomes incoherent with happiness*
Hmmmm I'm cautiously happy!
Just hope it's not a trilogy for the sake of being one etc
I'm hoping it means more of the story, and that may mean more things like Beorn and spiders. And perhaps *crosses her fingers* more about the Necromancer and more about Dale.
Aaaaaiiigh! Giant Hobbits! Run for your lives!!!
Oh.
Well then, we're okay then after all. Nothing to worry about.
Now then, as to movies....I am so hoping this means a chapter on Dol Guldur, the effort by the Istari to investigate and deal with "The Necromancer", etc. And Dale...and maybe more on the Beornlings! I can also imagine some sort of epilogue stuff dealing with young Aragorn coming to Rivendell, meeting Arwen, etc. (Maybe even his tour in the Gondor military.) Heck, maybe a look in on the expedition to re-inhabit Moria.
Yeah, high hopes indeed, even though I didn't fully see a full Trilogy this time, it could work out juuuust fine.

My boss broke the news to me today, and I was tentatively thrilled!
We might have been given two theatrical releases, two standard edition DVD/Blu-Ray releases and two super long special extended edition DVD/Blu-Ray releases. Maybe now there won't be a need for a special extended edition set since we'll get an extra film and an extra disc release by default, eh?
:police: BATTLE OF FIVE ARMIES!!! :viking2:
Of course, the real reason to expand into a third movie is to explore the forbidden love triangle between Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield.... and Princess Bellakatniss (older sister of Legolas, and heir to the throne of Mirkwood).
Will the elven princess choose the dwarf or the hobbit? I'll be on Team Thorin!

Will the elven princess choose the dwarf or the hobbit? I'll be on Team Thorin!
Reminds me of a Dwarven drinking song I wrote back in the FV days:
An elven lady sat in her tower--
One o' Felwithe's finest flowers--
Her love was gone, and she cried for him
But he'd gone back to Kaladim!
*rimshot*
There was another verse, too (although not relevant to this discussion):
A Gnomish lass sat grinding gears;
She had nae had a kiss in years.
A dwarf intae her workshop crept
An' put a tool in her hand an' a spring in her step!
nice. ;D
Where is Lyrima to say, "what? I don't get.....oh!"
teehee.
Our innocent Lyrima isn't so innocent anymore.
