Don't forget!
Defiance starts tomorrow at 9pm on SyFy.
20 minute making of viseo here:

I liked it quite a bit. It's no Firefly, but then again... I don't think anything will ever be Firefly again.
The cast is great, the special effects range from good to affordable (cough), the writing is good... I look forward to seeing where it goes for the rest of the season.
I liked it too.
It nearly fills the Firefly hole in my heart.
I feel it's quite similar to Terra Nova, but with aliens.
I like the characters. I want to know more about the doctor, I think.
It covers nearly every TV trope out there, but I'm ok with it.
I'll see how it works as only an hour next week. But I'll watch the whole season, no doubt.
Like Terra Nova? Ok, I will watch it. I know nothing will ever fill the Firefly hole but something may fill the Terra Nova hole since that damn show only got 1 season!!
I hope it does well ! I want to be able to watch it for years to come.
For anyone who doesn't have SyFy, it's up on Hulu for free (not sure for how long or if it will be all season).

Nice catch, Askari.
Anyone trying the game?
Can only be watched from within the United States :'(

Anyone trying the game?
I've been playing the game for 3 months (as a tester). I enjoy it, and am looking forward to continue playing episode missions throughout the TV season.
But I am reluctant to recommend it to MMORPG players. It's more of a shooter with occasional co-operative play and PvP than a traditional MMO. It also comes with a very console-oriented UI, which is maddening for most PC gamers.
I'd say watch some gameplay videos and make sure it looks like something you might be interested in, before trying it.
Apparently the show did well , premiering at 2.7 million!
That's really good for a Syfy network show.
Real networks would find that accecptable as well.
I hope this keeps up. Im tentively trying to put this on our list of things to watch and had to bump orphan black from my convince hubby to watch list.
I may have to move this up beyond arrow and behind revolution.
If you enjoyed the show, then I do hope those ratings exhibit some persistency into week two.
Because the casting looked awesome, I gave it a shot. However--and maybe it just ailed from pilot exposition syndrome--but what started out promising for me in the first hour merely eroded into writing that was boring, uninspired, and overly derivative. "I don't like the look of that scaffolding"? One can hope that was just a glitch in the TARDIS translation matrix. Otherwise, don't even get me started on how they actually made the effort to provide subtitles for the evil CGI(-ish) monster aliens that delivered that line.
As characters and the foreshadowing of potential future side plots, Mr. & Mrs. Albino Alien Vincent Van Gogh were about the only elements that colored me slightly intrigued after hour two.
Don't get me wrong, though. As someone who all but abandoned The Sci-Fi Channel even before they made the nose hair-brained decision to brand their identity by mis-re-spelling their name, it's nice to see the recent increase in effort to embrace programming that takes the network back to its roots.
I'll probably end up being the odd man out on this one--I'll still likely give the show one more chance just to be sure--but I don't feel Defiance poses any danger to getting Orphan Black bumped off of my watch list (hint, hint). ;)
Pshaw! Hint taken - Well orphan black was looking pretty good . I may have to kick something else out, like tru blood.

Yeah, I have to say that the "Defiance" pilot was a bit of a trope-fest. I'm hoping that was just the pressure of trying to set up an entire future world and ensemble cast in such short-order.
I think the main reasons I enjoyed it are just that I'm already invested in the world/lore through the game, love some of the cast from previous projects, and am just desperate for some good science fiction on TV.
I'm three episodes into "Orphan Black" and liking it much better than most TV to come out in quite awhile (thanks to the versatility of Tatiana Maslany). Of course, it's Canadian. Canada often does a much better job on science fiction than Hollywood... so much so that even the Hollywood sci-fi that I like is often shot and produced in Canada.
So Orphan Black is pretty good, huh?

"I don't like the look of that scaffolding"
That was...really awful.
You have to admit, they have fantastic taste in character naming, though. ;)
Yes actually it is pretty good. I want to say surprisingly good but thats because i had no expectations going in.

You must be referring to Graham Greene's character because I'm pretty sure I don't remember anyone named Wiffle. :P
Thank goodness you said something Jasyn. I wasn't going to rain on everyone's parade by making negative comments. Nor will I now. Blaek and I turned it off, however, before the pilot finished. Just not the show for us.
I'll gladly take a look at Orphan Black though! We've been glued to The Wire--our first but not last--time through the series, which is fantastic across the board. We were rewatching and enjoying Game of Thrones but Xfinity took the previous seasons off TV and we haven't found them on netflix. And we haven't taken the time to see if they are on Xfinity online...
I'm still loving Bones even though the plots are quite formulaic. I love the by play between the characters and I don't go through a show without laughing. It's also fun to watch because my younger two like to watch it with us.
Anyway! I'm glad defiance is scratching the itch for so many of you! May it continue to do so. :kia
That is the most glowing post of a horrible show.
Thanks Lyrima.
Another new show I'm really enjoying, that might appeal to MMORPGers is "Vikings" on The History Channel. It's several episodes into its first small season, but has been picked up for another season.
We are DVR'ing Vikings; excited to watch :)
Pinkie... ???
