That is my current rig and monitor.

If I were looking to upgrade video card and RAM, any suggestions where to get some good parts at a good price (and what to get)?

The computer originally cost $999.99 in Canadian dollars a couple of years back. Would it be cheaper to buy a new one or can I upgrade the RAM to 16 and get a better video card for relatively cheap? It seems to run stuff ok right now but I would like better. Anything else that should be upgraded?

Thanks for any help/suggestions provided.

If its a couple of years old, it may be more cost efficient to upgrade. Other than that, Im not computer savvy enough to tell you whats worth upgrading :p

With my knowledge, I would say Add more RAM, upgrade the video card, and you should be good to go for $300 and another couple of years.

Any new machine you get will likely have a new GPU and RAM.  So why not find a video card you like and try it in your current machine first.  Then in year or three, upgrade your MB and CPU.  Its usually cheaper to buy the components and put them together yourself anyway, and you can spread your cost out on a staggered upgrade schedule this way.

I recommend:

www.tigerdirect.com

www.newegg.com

Any suggestions as to what you be a good upgrade for my video card that will work with my current set up? I know I need to take into account it fitting with my motherboard and power supply and all that. I am pretty behind of my hardware knowledge lately.

Any suggestions on a good deal on 16gb of ram is also welcome. 2x8 preferably not 4x4.

The only thing you have to take into account is your power supply.  Since most, if not all video cards fit into PCI-Express slots, you don't have to match them to your motherboard.  If you're concerned your powersupply might not have enough output, then google the other components you have to find their power requirements, then add them up and make sure its enough....it probably is.

As for memory, just follow the links I posted above and see what's there.  RAM is relatively cheap and you're not going to get screwed by either of those two sites.
