As you may remember, when Talon was granted provisional Saga membership in May of 2012, it was on the condition that he watch the Star Wars saga (since they apparently do not have Star Wars in Australia). It was kind of a Geeks Without Borders errand of mercy to bring enlightenment to our poor brother on the other side of the world.
Over the last few months (yes, months...Talon's a bit slow), he has been watching Episodes I, II, III (mostly--there's only so much you can take, really), IV, and V. Yesterday at 9 am in Australia, 4 pm in Silicon Valley, Talon, Temus, and I counted down over Mumble and pushed the play button on Return of the Jedi. We watched the movie together, and I can confirm that Talon has now completed his Star Wars journey. As Mistress of Initiates emeritus, I am pleased to offer Talon full membership in Saga.
On a totally serious note, I do want to thank Talon for the gift he gave me yesterday. He somehow managed to get through life without really knowing for sure that Luke and Leia are related, without knowing what ultimately happened to Yoda, Vader, Jabba, and Palpatine. It was an amazing experience to hear someone watching Yoda's last moments, Han's confusion over Leia's affection for Luke, and the final confrontation with and redemption of Vader. I got to hear his reaction to finally hearing Admiral Ackbar say "It's a trap!" I witnessed his horrified response to the Ewoks.
*activates the official Saga lightsaber and carefully severs Talon's Padawan braid*

It was a great trial, particularly the Ewoks. I suppose not having seen the movies because I don't have many friends that were that "into" it, or kept their love quiet, had the advantage that I didn't overhear any spoilers. Not sure how I managed that for however many years since Star Wars has been around but there were a lot of surprises in Return of the Jedi!
No, I didn't know what happened to Yoda or Vader, or Palpatine. And Luke and Leia, well there you go ...
Can't imagine what I sounded like over mumble but Mixxi seems to have enjoyed the experience. *smirk*
Thanks, all, for being patient and prodding me to see Star Wars. I do nothing by halves so I did watch the new movies as well and I agree the original trio is far better. And Mixxi for overseeing the finale.
I love the Star Wars universe. And I shall forever let the Force guide me.
Edit: Apparently, by the way, the version I was loaned was the original with puppets in Jabba's palace and old, unrecognisable Anakin at the end. And no Unity Day stuff. I had no idea what Mixxi was talking about when she was narrating the planets shown 'cause I had none of that. Jumped straight to the evil Ewoks and their little party.
