I had a couple of character concepts.
One was a Mordesh female spellslinger or esper /scientist and she has a granok warrior/soldier sidekick.
I play her as chaotic neutral and the granok as a chaotic good.
I was going to model them after Yzma and Krunk from Emperors new groove - especially because of the alchemical genius bent of the mordesh. Making the mordesh less evil though and more chaotic . It would be hard to play both though so I was going to settle for just the mordesh female .
I may make her more pinky from pinky and the brain.
I will write a story for her later.
Hehe, I had a similar idea.
It depends on character creation and who I can make look cooler if I go Mordesh or Aurin. If I go Mordesh it will probably be a spellslinger settler and I will gladly be someone's crazy sidekick! :D
I have no real idea what my Exiles main character will end up being, but here's the current top idea for my Mordesh.
His base persona will be a stoic, haughty scientist/alchemist who studies the fluids used to keep Mordesh bodies alive. Since joining the Black Hoods intelligence arm of the Exiles, he has begun to specialize in a particular alchemical niche. He harvests the brains of the dead and uses alchemical procedures to extract "mind echoes" from the dead flesh. He then distills these echoes into thimble-sized aliquots and adds them directly to his own personal revivification broth.
The idea was to allow for post-mortem interrogation, but the procedure has never been very successful. He'd get the occasional flash of mental pictures or snippet of conversation from the memories of the deceased, but nothing truly actionable. After a couple dozen attempts with little success, he was about to scrap the project entirely. Besides, he was starting to feel a little itchy and anxious, probably nothing more than a mild side effect.
When Nexus was discovered, he was eager to move on to a new project. But... strange things started happening when he arrived on Nexus: occasional visual and/or auditory hallucinations, missing time, sleepwalking. Something about Nexus seems to be having a strange interaction with the alchemical mind echoes he's added to his revivification broth. This could quickly turn into an intolerable distraction!
Basically, the character will be a somewhat stuffy and curmudgeonly scientist most of the time, but within him... several other personalities will be percolating. The subsidiary personalities of his dead test subjects will occasionally cause him to get very emotional in ways that are uncharacteristic to his main personality (e.g., an Aurin personality causing him to weep ecstatically at the sight of a double rainbow).
He may end up having to lock himself in when he sleeps... to keep the others from trying to take over his body. He may start having discussions (or maybe even shouting matches) with these other personalities. Is this all real, or is he insane? Why not both!
Ive refined my Mordesh female idea.
The mordesh used to be one of the most beautiful races known and also alchemical savants.
My mordesh female was one of the prettiest ones but not the brightest bulb in the room but definitely one of the nicer ones. Her husband was one of the best minds known to the race. When the plague hit and turned them into raving mindless cannibals, they were some of the first to be affected.
When the cure was used on her, she survived and she pushed to have it used on her husband. Sadly her husband's body rejected the cure and perished due to the flesh wasting part of it.
It broke her mind and now the innocent part of her lives on as the voice of her husband in her head who acts as her conscious and she unknowingly emulates her husband and thinks she is an alchemical genius and has subconsciously adopted his mannerisms . She is of course incompetent at this and bumbles around half the time.
She will routinely have conversations with her husband who she calls Fool , but everyone else will see her talking to thin air and just acting like a mad genius.
Will continue to refine .
I've been giving this some thought, and having something like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewpYq9rgg3w) or this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEkJAaGhJhQ) happen to your home world would have to be beyond traumatic. There can't be too many who come through that with their faculties fully intact.
So I'm thinking my character will have some extreme PTSD, manifested as complete amnesia and construction of an alternate reality, one where he is not Mordesh and never was. Sort of akin to the villain in this episode of Vampire Princess Miyu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0d5DbmTVvs&list=PLD61117680C7B2B57), except not villainous of course. But hiding beneath his exo suit, maybe he'll think himself a robot as well, one that can serve without having to remember or feel. Maybe he'll think himself a Mechari.
I had a completely different concept for my Mordesh. She was going to be part of the rich elite who got the "cure" right away then was whisked off the planet before the quarantine came down hard by her father. So she was sheltered from the horrors that happened all around her but lost a lot of family who were not in the safety of the family compound when s**t started to hit the fan.
If I end up playing a Mordesh that is what I am going to go with but right now I think Aurin looks best for me. They are tiny and have tails!
