Title: [WS] Welcome Facet! {R}
Post by: Facet on May 30, 2014, 02:53:08 PM
I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I hammered this out during a slow afternoon at work. Soooo...

Please write an introduction to your character.
Include name, race, gender, profession, alignment.
If you have any crafting disciplines or have other talents, please include those as well.

Name: Facet (Well, Franklin Delacroix Chopard, but he'd prefer just sticking with Facet, if it's all the same)
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Profession: Spellslinger, Settler, and Rebellious Student
Alginment(?): I suppose if I were to use the classic D&D scale I'm about Chaotic Good. I'm not a big fan of being told what to do and when to do it, but I generally want to do right by my fellow man.

Do you have alternate characters on the same server?
No, but that could happen down the road.

How did you hear of us?
A post on the Guild Forums at wildstar-roleplay.com (where I can be found as ilas)

Is there anyone you have got to know from the family, IC or OOC?
I've traded a friendly message with Rumze on wildstar-roleplay.com, but I doubt that counts, so no...not yet, at least.

What types of games have you participated in? (include all types, such as pen/paper or MMORPGs, PC, Console, board games, card games.)
I'm going to attack this from two angles:
Online: I've role-played to one degree in Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2, Lord of the Rings Online, and Champions Online.
Tabletop: I started playing D&D back in 1982 and haven't quit. I have a regular gaming group that role-plays in gamen and participates in cooperative fiction for out-of-game events on message boards - I love to write and join others in those projects.

What other games are you interested in that Saga participates or is moving towards?
Right now just Wildstar. I'm trying to trim down my multi-MMO habit. Non-Saga games (at least I imagine non-Saga games) would be Diablo 3 and Guns of Icarus Online.

What aspects of gaming have you enjoyed in the past and/or looking forward to enjoying with Saga? Light raiding, dungeon delving, situational roleplay, story-writing, crafting, PvP, etc.
I enjoy dungeons, but I don't think I'll be getting into raiding anytime soon. I'm a Dad and just don't have the time to properly commit to it. I love both 'open world' roleplaying and 'event-based' roleplaying. One of my favorite pastimes in WoW was to find a tavern in Ironforge and join a few fellow dwarves for a few tankards while chatting IC and swapping stories.

What are you looking for as a member of our guild?
An organization that seeks to foster role-playing without enforcing a specific theme (such as a military unit, a pirate clan, etc.). I'm looking to make some friends with whom to explore this game world.

Have you read and agree to our Guild Policies and Guidelines?
I have and yes, I do.

Please answer the following three questions, IN CHARACTER:

Tell us of your past.

The name's Facet...well...Franklin Chopard if we're gonna be formal about things. Odds on you've heard of my folks - the Chopards. (His eyes roll as he pronounces the name with a touch of scorn.) Doesn't matter for much either way. Back Dominion side my family's of note for crafting all kinds of fancy sparkly bits.

(Affecting a snooty voice with a pronounced Dominion accent)
Oh regard my Chopard watch and stand in awe of my wealth and social status.

(Returning to normal voice)
Truth is, it's just a big sign of having a lot of scratch and a big ol' stick right up...well...you take my meaning. Trouble is, my kin lives and breathes the Dominion is in the right. Light and Glory to the Emperor and all that crap.

We differ there. That's puttin' it politely. I know, some of y'all are gonna say, 'He's just a kid! Is he even allowed to be drinking here?' I assure you I am, put my 21st behind me last year. The thing is, people ought not be treated in the manner I've seen the Dominion treat 'em. Money and power doesn't give one the right to step on others. I don't mean to soap box, but that's just how I think things oughtta be.

(He can't help but grin here.)
'course, there's Dominion folk who'd rather I kept my mouth shut and fell in line and I've spent a little time in their fine rehabilitation facilities for not doin' just that. Last time my folks bought me out, my old man packed me a bag and made it clear I wasn't to darken his door again.

What hobbies and quests do you presently have?
Heck, I don't know. Ummm...pleasant company? I'm questing after a cold pint and a little pleasant company. And maybe a hand or three of cards? I guess if we're bein' honest, I do have an eye for...little baubles and such. Collectin' em, cuttin' em, tradin' em for gear and such. I come by that honest though.

Where do you see yourself in the future?
A known name, you know? 'Oh Facet, yeah, I seen him Sling. Put one right in that Dominion toads eye!'. Guess I'd like a little place to call my own - place to hang my hat and such. Some good friends too - a good ring of folks who've got my back just as I've got theirs.

I kind of hammered this out during some downtime at the office, so it's a little rushed. My grasp on Wildstar lore is somewhat tenuous, so there could be some holes here that just won't work out. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Just 9 hours to go! (Give or take...)

Welcome! And you are correct, the drinking age of 21 is very strictly enforced in The Saga's canteen.

Unless of course you happened to build the bartender.

I'm unclear on one thing... is Facet descended from a branch of his family that joined the Exiles 300 years ago, or was he born Cassian and recently betrayed his family and his people and his Emperor?

We get a lot of the latter type. I'm speculating that The Saga has a Cassian-tolerant captain but I have too many alts to design before I start designing NPCs.

Welcome to the Saga guild!

Please be sure to read the posts stickied at the top of this forum and be sure you agree with the rules and charter. This guild has a history, as you will see. It is, well, a Saga.

Thank you for filling out the Roster Card. This procedure is for the others here who will not see you in Wildstar so they can get to know you.

Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.

As an Initiate, you should now have access to the private game related forums, such as questing and crafting disciplines.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome!

Howdy and welcome. Your character sounds like fun and I certainly remember the days of RPing and generally hanging about in Ironforge before there was more than one auction house. For the love of drink!

Hey everyone, thanks so much for the warm welcome! I'm really excited to be along for the ride. :) I hope we'll get a chance to tilt a few back real soon.

QuoteI'm unclear on one thing... is Facet descended from a branch of his family that joined the Exiles 300 years ago, or was he born Cassian and recently betrayed his family and his people and his Emperor?

Hi Alys! Betrayal is kind of a negative word...I kind of prefer 'a personal realignment of socio-political convictions.' ;) It was a relatively recent decision - within the last few years. I expect there will always be those that will think 'Once a Cassian, always a Cassian,' I expect many Exiles will have a hard time trusting him initially. And even though he works hard to 'fit in', it's tough to shed all of the Cassian patois and mannerisms he grew up with.
