The title should be The Saga Lore because I mean it to be about the ship, rather than Saga Lore in general. That would even more presumptuous. I'd rather not be presumptuous at all. I'm shooting for audacious, but I don't think I've managed it.
As I have been figuring out how Alysanda the character works, I've realized some elements her story needs, and one of these is an authority figure. Given that she's spent the last seven years on a ship, the most likely candidate would be the ship's captain. And then my muse told me all about the captain of The Saga, in far more detail than I really needed.
Creativity like this is rare for me, and I relish these moments, so I indulged my muse and wrote it all down. Then, after taking a deep breath, I posted it to the Lore subthread.
I'm sure this is lore not anyone else needs, and quite possibly that no one else wants, but in addition to helping my character's backstory, I think it helps support some elements of the Wildstar incarnation of the guild.
I do apologize if I have overstepped my bounds, but I figured I should do that during my Initiate period so people know what they're getting. I also hope I have not contradicted anyone else's view of the guild's backstory.
Hey! I read the lore post and I think it's very well done. Flavorful but broad enough to accommodate the scope of anyone else's ideas. As a newcomer to Saga I certainly can't speak for the acceptability of it in terms of what the IC intentions (if any) for the guild are, but I just wanted to chime in that I enjoyed what you came up with and it could certainly give us a good starting point for RP in the game.
My main Fawkes traveled between fleet ships frequently during the migration to Nexus so it's likely he made acquaintances, and my alt Mortasha is pretty much a clean slate so this could fit fine for her.
Interested in hearing other people's feedback!
It's actually very well written. Very enjoyable read.
I would suggest making her part of a ships council simply to allow other folks the flexibility to choose other role models for themselves.
With being busy and whatnot I am playing catch up and finally got around to reading this. I think it's good that you took the initiative and shared the story with us. I particularly liked the presence of a strong female figure guiding a group as they travel to Nexus. I think Rumze stated it well suggesting the change to ship's counsel. And I think it works for someone with such a traumatic past to share the burden of responsibility.
Oh, a council is an excellent idea! Like the Exiles on the whole, it could have a representative from each race. Our captain is the human, the aurin could be a scrappy male, the granok is a brewmaster...
Gah! Somebody stop me! I don't want to create any more NPCs! ^^;
