[Wayena]

If I Died

If I died, would the world stop turning?
If I tried, with the fire still burning
In the end, my passion finally gone
Oh my friend, I waited here so long

But the stars are empty, cold and uninviting
My soul begins to scream as it crumbles and is dying
I scream for you to come to me, to save me from myself
But everyone, each in turn, can't even save yourselves

So I sit in silence, my body down upon the ground
I listen for the roar of gods, but never hear a sound
I weep for the path untaken, the path I never knew
The one that would have taken me far away from you

And the sun is black, the land is brown, the water now is red
I whisper in death's ear, "Can this mean I'm finally dead?"
But there is no answer, there is no sound, there is no reply
And I weep for all the living 'cause all I can do is cry

I look at all I am, what I was, what I'll one day be
And hate this looking glass view and everything I see
So bring your indifference, bring your cold clarity, bring your unkind word
So I can hate you too, since you're nothing more than sheep to fill the herd

I've hesitated started a poetry corner thread as it usually signifies an exit to the guild. No, it's true! Every time I start one, I end up leaving the guild shortly thereafter. I really can't explain it.
