Fluffy

"Why couldn't I keep Fluffy, Dad? She followed me home." Eight year old Catri Sage whined. She was standing in her dad's workroom watching him and her eighteen year old brother Andros fix up a beat up droid they bought earlier.

"Kitten, shoving a cat in your backpack does not mean it followed you home. Hand me that wrench." Jorel Sage replied

"Well, she'd have to be behind me to follow me and my backpack is behind me." Catri pouted folding her arms "And besides, she had nowhere else to go. If I don't take care of her who will?"

"Old Mrs Ido down down the street sure seemed happy to take her in." Andros said.

"It's not fair. That crazy old Rodian already has a zillion cats. I'll bet she keeps them around to eat them for breakfast." Catri said

"You respect you elders, young lady." Jorel warned. "We've already talked about this. We are not getting any pets. With five younglings to keep out of trouble I don't need any more lifeforms causing mischief."

"Yes, sir." Catri mumbled.

Jorel turned back to the droid on the workbench. Catri watched as he adjusted the droid's circuits. Then he reinforced the joints and fixed a few dents on the droid's torso. Finally, Jorel switched the droid on and closed the chest plate. The droid sat up on the workbench and surveyed the room. Then he turned to Jorel.

"Query: Master, what are your instructions?"

Before her father could say anything Catri stepped in front of the droid.

"Your name is Fluffy." She said with a stubborn nod.

"You can't name a droid Fluffy." Andros protested.

"Acknowledgment: This unit's designation is now Fluffy. What are your orders, Mistress?"

"I think your sister just did." Jorel said to his shocked son.
