Belynda's Lifethoughts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"RUN!!"
Jebbar's voice boomed over the echoing sounds of footsteps-what sounded like hundreds of them. He appeared around the corner with three gnolls, then three more, then more. Belynda lost count. She turned to run but the gnolls had seen her. Her short legs were no match for their long strides. She closed her eyes and tried to concentrate on returning herself to Qyenos but it was no use. Each time she nearly had the spell cast another fist or claw would rip at her, tearing her robe and her concentration. And then she opened her eyes. Jebbar was being assaulted from all sides. She could hardly see him in the midst of all the fur.
"Brother!" A fist came at her face and she was too slow to dodge it. "Brother..." Then darkness came and she felt the familliar tugging sensation as her soul left her body. She hovered in the air for a moment and could see Jebbar losing his battle, covered in blood, striking out at the gnolls for all he was worth, falling, being trampled. She closed her eyes and felt herself being swept through space. Her feet touched the ground. She opened her eyes. The gate of Qyenos stood before her. Jebbar landed next to her. He hadn't made it either.

"Wow, that hurt." Belynda rubbed her sore arm.
"Yeah, no kidding. You ok sis?"
"Yes. I forgot all my spells though."
"Heh, dying will do that to you. Go on and memorize them."
"Ok." She sat down and stuck her nose in her tome, reading the spells she wanted until she had them memorized perfectly. She hopped up. "Ok, I'm ready now. You lead?"
"Sure thing."

They set off across the grassy expanse between Qeynos and Blackburrow. He was pulling ahead as always and Belynda was panting as she tried to keep up.

"HEY!! Slow down.*pant* You're legs are..*pant* too long."
"No, yours are just too short." He stopped and waited for her with his hands on his hips until she caught up. She looked up at him. He looked down at her and smiled. As far as she was concerned, he hung Luclin up there in the sky. He nodded at her and turned back towards the gnoll's lair.
They made their way back slowly to where they had fallen, killing a few gnolls on the way. They retrieved their belongings from their corpses and killed a few more gnolls. More close calls. They decided to head to the Oasis. Belynda had never seen it and Jebbar thought the long run through the Karana's would be fun. She shrugged and followed him as always.

They made it to Highpass Hold just before sunset and decided to wait at the entrance to Kithcor until morning to rest their legs and wait for the nasty undead to go back into hiding. Their friend Rorack and some of his buddies were hunting the orcs in that area and they exchanged pleasantries before Belynda sat down and pulled out a deck of cards.

"Whacha playin, sis?"
"Solitaire I think" She delt the cards out into neat rows.
"Ahh. I miss seeing you play. Its been a long time."
"Mmm hmm." She moved some cards around.
"Did you enjoy your time in Ak'anon?"
Belynda looked up at her brother and squinted her eyes. "I wouldn't have run away and found you if I had enjoyed it, would I?"
Jebbar nodded slowly. "I suppose not. Unless you just missed me." He shot her a little grin.
Belynda went back to her cards. "I felt like they were trying to talk me into being something I'm not. All those short people. I didn't know there were so many of us. And to lock us all in together in that wretched place. That horrid ticking sound everywhere I went. Being called names all the time. It was horrible."
"They called you names?" Jebbar wrinkled his brow.
"Yes..Everytime a tall human or an elf came they called me Gnome girl. Gnome? It sounded so nasty. I don't know why they didn't just call me a human. I don't know why they had to make fun of me just because I'm short. Mama and Dad never did."
Jebbar shook his head slowly. "Well, the important thing is you are here with me now and I can look after you. I missed you sis." He hugged her.
Belynda hugged him back, dropping her deck of cards in the process. "Oh bother."
Jebbar snickered. She punched him in the shoulder. He grinned and rubbed his arm. "Wow, you're pretty strong for a wee one."
Belynda made her most angry face and pounced on him, trying to wrestle him to the ground and tickle him. He laughed and laughed. "Ok, ok..hehehe..I give..stop!! hehe...It's time to go now."
Belynda stood up and gathered her cards. She smoothed the wrinkles out of her dress and followed her brother into Kithcor. They made their way quickly to the Commonlands and Jebbar noticed Belynda yawning and falling behind.

"We'll get you a room for the night ok? Hogcaller's Inn ok?"
"Yeah...that's great." *yawn*

Jebbar smiled and led her to the inn, bought her room and tucked her inn.

"Nite little sis"
"Nite big brother"
Belynda snuggled down under the covers and drifted off to sleep.
