REPUBLIC SIS PERSONNEL BACKGROUND REPORT

Subject: Sunchaser Family
Record number: SM-2273884-RefDex-3395504
Subindex: Alpha-00
Compiled by: Hervax Pell, SIS ID: 00-93328-G

This report and its subsequent editions are an attempt to compile a concise history of the Sunchaser family as a resource for policy-makers and SIS personnel that may interact with these individuals. The exploits of the modern Sunchaser brothers are a matter of public record and more than a little romanticization. These reports will try to peel away the layers of hyperbole and expose the true story of this remarkable family. This first installment will give a brief background of the clan as a whole, from their first days on Corellia, up to the births of the now-famous, and infamous, Sunchaser brothers.

In the dim light of history, during the first great expansion of humanity from Coruscant, the government created programs to promote the colonization of distant systems1. These programs gave land grants to those willing to settle wild planets. Frontier life was dangerous and often short, but those who stuck it out reaped many benefits from the pristine worlds that were opened to them. One family that took up the challenge was the Sunchaser clan. According to the earliest available records, indentured servant Gramathine Sunchaser and his large family braved the early hyperspace journey, and settled in the fertile plains outside of what would eventually become Coronet City2. During the brutal first winter, their crop failed and two of Gramathine's six children died of exposure. Though wracked with grief and near starvation, the rest of the family pulled together and persevered. The next winter was milder and the following spring brought a huge crop that ensured their survival. There has been a Sunchaser Farm on Corellia ever since.

For most of the family's history, the Sunchasers have been farmers and they continue to be one of the most successful family farming operations on the planet. Down through the generations, there have been notable deviations from that tradition, including four Senators3, a shipping magnate4, two notorious starship thieves5, a Marron'Del Prize-winning scientist6, a handful of Jedi Masters7, and a Republic General8.

Ree'an, great-grandmother of Kel and his brothers, was an intelligence operative for the Republic during the Jedi Civil War. She contributed to the intelligence that located Darth Revan and led to his capture by Bastilla Shan and the Jedi Order9.

Harrak, Ree'an's son, developed the strain of organic pesticide that revolutionized agribusiness thirty years ago10.

More recently, the current Sunchaser patriarch, Thael, served in the Great Galactic War. He earned an honorable discharge and returned to the family farm as a Master Sergeant. His wife, Alemha, ran the 1200-acre farm during Thael's military service with only her four sons, the family droids, and a few hired hands as help. Sunchaser Farms currently grows foodstuffs and biochem fuel crops, with a small side business in designer herbs and spices. They are a part of a growing cooperative arrangement with surrounding farms to bring better prices at market, which has helped all the participants survive the tension of Imperial occupation and Republic resistance11.

Thael's brother Kharn is a Jedi Master12 and was present for the births of all four of his nephews. He sensed that the oldest, Kel, and the youngest, Athas, were Force-sensitive and petitioned the Jedi Council to train them on Corellia. The Council agreed13 and Kel and Athas added Jedi training to their long list of chores.

The middle twins, Jerrus and Korvan, were, unsurprisingly, much alike. They loved starships, piloting, and gunplay. Sadly, their dreams of starting a shipping business together would not survive, nor would their close relationship.
