It's gonna be a long winter..

So today it was revealed that the release date for Elder Scrolls online will be April 4th. Given that the recent Wildstar beta started when it did, I kinda added the industry standard 3 months to that and came up with an April release for Wildstar as well.

However, I'm wondering if Wildstar will push things up now that Elder Scrolls has staked a claim to early April. It's true they aren't similar games, but there are legions of starved MMO players out there right now- who may not have the cash to plink down for both games. Potentially bad for Wildstar if they can't beat that date. Going later than April is terrible for Wildstar too, summer is an awful time to gain momentum in MMO's since players are all off doing *gasp* outside things.

Add to the mix that the PC Gamer magazine keys for EQN:L state the closed beta being around March 31st. (could that mean Landmark won't go live until summer?) That means the $100 Landmark Alpha will be the only new game in town until Wildstar can come out.

It's gonna be a long winter.  :P

Yup! Sounds right actually - unless folks get into the beta , it will be eqnl for me until wildstar releases - im holding out on elder scrolls though - not going to try that until later after the post launch stuff has died done and the first patch is out

Yeah. That's why I plunked down $100 for access to the Alpha test of a free-to-play game (cough, gasp). I'm hoping Landmark Alpha starts for me in January and gives me something to do until WildStar comes out.

I play almost all major MMORPGs, but I will likely give ESO a pass unless it gets great press or has a free trial. I'm not a huge Elder Scrolls fan, and have not been impressed by what I've seen from ESO.

Landmark, WildStar, and EQN will see the vast majority of my gaming attention over the next couple years.

Although depending on my finances and the timing of these various games, I may buy a PS4 and play some Destiny for a couple months near the end of 2014.
