Taygar--Welcome to My World
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to my world.

Yet again it is raining in the Elven Outpost of Firiona Vie, but tonight, instead of drinking, I shall write in my journal for the very first time.

First of all a little about myself :-

I was born in the great forest of the Faydark around about fifty or so years ago. My parents wanted me to become a Warrior, as is the path of my brother Emyrlin..but as is most often the way with me, I of course did not listen. (Basically due to the fact that I am rather scrawny..much to my dismay!) I didn't listen because I had plans to become a scout, but not just any old scout, no - I wanted to be the greatest scout in the history of all elvenkind.

My first day on the job soon put that fantasy to an ubrupt end.

It was but a simple mission, to collect the dust from pixies that I had slain - Nasty little creatures they are, always lighting fires, and stealing coins that people accidently drop on the ground, ahh it is a pity they are soo cute. Well anyway, I happened to come across a lone pixie along the path to the high elf city of Felwithe.

Seeing a perfect opportunity to impress my guildmaster (also secretly hoping to impress master scout Geeda..ahh Geeda - so attractive..pity about the name.) I attacked the pixie. Well, the battle was going fine until one of her little pixie buddies decided to turn up. Okay..now things are getting a bit..icky. But, as is my luck I managed to slay the first pixie and begin on the second, when what came along.. yet another pixie.

Seeing my life fashing before my eyes, and having visions of tiny flying women jabbing me with spears for an eternity..

I ran.

Ah yes, my first act of cowardness. Running from two pixies through the forest, picking up every other one that I passed along the way. Soon I reached the lift - commonly known by most as the Priest of Discord lift..hmm quite possibly due to the fact that that sour faced bastage hangs around the forest floor there, trying to preach his misery. At the base of the lift I saw my salvation, the blessed warrior guards of Kelethin!

"You little women are going to get some now!" I yelled over my shoulder the fast approching group of horrible pixies, thier little faces twisted in mockery as they flew swiftly towards me. "Guard, kill those pixies!" I said to the nearest one, (Damn I can't recall that fools name) Imagine my shock when the guard shook his head, and the pixies came in for the kill.

After a moment of extreme pain all was calm, I guess I died that day, but for some strange reason I keep coming back alive again. Perhaps my lord Bristlebane is playing tricks on me, because believe me, this has happend many, many times.

Fianlly, after what seemed like an eternity, I collected my pixie dust. But being just damn lazy that I am, I cheated it out of other players by paying them silver coins for the pixie dusts that they had worked so hard for. Seemed a shame for me to get my hands dirty when there were so many other pets around for me to use.

Beaming with pride, I marched into my scouts guild and handed over my dust, secretly hoping for maybe some kind of promotion...I mean, how easy is it to be a guildmaster? Standing in a room all day telling people that you do not trust them, or training other, younger trainees? Sounds like my kind of job. My guidmaster looked at the dust..shrugged, and gave me four copper.

Four copper. My life is worth four stinking copper coins that look like they have been passed through an orcs gullet..multiple times. "To hell with them." I said to myself, feeling most annoyed. "I don't need them, I don't need anyone. I'll make my own rules and do what I feel like."

Later that day, I bid goodbye to my parents, and to my older brother - who as a matter of fact was slain by Emporer Crush himself not long after my departure - Sure, I was upset, but he was a warrior, that was what he lived for, I feel glad for him that he died his wonderful death in service to the people.

I moved to the Butcherblock Mountains for a while, living at the seedy docks there - travelling to Kaladim once in a while to train and restock my pitifully low supplies.

I became somewhat of a friend to many brave dwarven souls who fought - and died right along with me as we battled the goblins of the ButcherBlock Mountainrange.

I fially grew tired of fighting alonside these short warriors, whose laguagage and manner of speech reminded me so much of the noises my rear end makes after too many tumpy tonics, and so I left, to tread my way across the rest of the world, and to follow my heart wherever it took me.

The hour is growing late, and my candles are running very low, (For those who are yet to travel with me, I always seem to be running low on everything..be it food, water..or in Ankles's case..bait) I think it is time for me to get some sleep.

I've got some Sarnaks to kill in the morning.

Re: Welcome to my world.

--Excuse my rudeness for having to do this, but I must re-cap on some of the more memorable experiences of my career thus far.--

My life of freedom and genarally causing many a rukus ended one day as I was trying to figure out a way to dispose of the treacherous Nybright sisters in Lesser Faydark.

(Well not really, I wanted the weapons that they carried for I heard that they are worth quite a bit of money, and the necklaces are to be given to my old drinking buddy Tandan Nybright..who for some odd reason wanted me to kill his lovely daughers. Could never understand that man..)

Anyway, enough of my prattle. That day I met my greatest foe. Some of you know her as Equestrielle the Corruped, most know her as that %#$@@$ black horse. Haha, there I was just minding my own business when I saw something coming towards me ..fast.

Now, I know what you are thinking, "Run you fool you're going to get squished" but, hey hey!, it's me you're thinking about, and what do I do when something big dark and scary is running towards me? I run towards it, and say "Hail!".

Needless to say I ended up face to face with my old friend the Priest of Discord, and my even better friend Guard "What's his name", who let the little women jab me.

After a few rude gestures to the both of them, I was off to find my body, for I realised that if a was reborn and ran back to the spot I was slaughtered at, I would find my gear.

Upon reaching the forest of Lesser Faydark, I set out along the path to find my long lost corpse. After running for what semed an eternity, I finally discovered myself lying exposed in the middle of the path. Quickly I retrieved my hard earned leather armor, and set off to find the daughers of my old friend.

Now Lesser Faydark isn't the most SAFE of places to be in the world when you are level 9, so I made sure I tried to get to my destination as quickly as possible. Imagine my surprise when I looked up to see an impish face staring at me from behind some small bushes. "Aww, he's soo cuute!" I thought to myself as I began seaching for some candy to give it.

Well, within about five seconds that cute little face turned into a scowl and it attacked me. "Why, you cheeky little swine! I'll tear you to pieces!" I yelled at it, not fearing for my life because - hey! Anything that damn small and called a "Brownie" of all things couldn't hurt a superior bieng such as myself right? ...Right?

Wrong. That little monkey gave me the butt whipping of a lifetime as I died just as fast as when that poor excuse for a donkey hit me ten minutes earlier.

"Tandan my friend, you daughters can do whatever they please, I haven't seen them, hell, I can't even get to them." I thought to myself, as I glanced at that damn priest glaring at me. "I'll get my body and get the hell out of that cursed forest."

So, yet again I entered this time with much better luck. I found my body and only aggroed a whole camp of orcish scumsuckers. But aha! This time I was prepared.

Running through a forest filled with death, with a rather large train of orcs following you, really gives you a sense of pure excitement and invigoration. As the orcs continued to pound on my back, somehow I came to a strange looking construction - looking rather like a butterfly covered druid ring. After leading the orcs on a merry chase through these monoliths I spied a path, and a chance for freedom!

Choosing my path carefully I managed to "zone" into the estate of the foul vampire lord, Mayong Mistmoore. Ahh, safe at last in an Unholy pit of Undeath. By Bristlebane, I love my life.

After regaining my strength, I crossed back over into the Lesser Faydark forest, and somehow managed to find the sister camp, thankfully very close to the old druid ring that I had discovered. Choosing a relitively safe place to set up my camp, I sat and nodded of in the forest of doom, waiting for my chance to help my old buddy.

Re: Welcome to my world.

--Yet another older adventure--

Ah, the battle was glorious - I can't belive that I enjoyed the taking of another elve's life quite like I did that woman, Jayla Nybright. Ah Jayla, my favorite sister of all, so sweet, so fine.

I'm beginning to see what drove my brother to becoming one of Tunares "Emerald Warriors". This is just plain old fun, me bieng the rogue that I am, generally recieve a less than pleasant angle of my foes, but these fine half-elves, they send my blood boiling. (and I get the best view of the lot, as you may well imagine!)

Well, as far as groups go, I had a special one, myself, a brave elven ranger, a magician and het pet, a cleric..and a gnome. I wasn't sure what exactly the gnome was..he was sort of running around whever he wanted occasionally joining in, and screaming at us when he got hit.

Well you all know how things work out, people come people go, and soon we were left with the barest of groups, the sisters were become quite tough, even with me being of the 10th seaon at that stage, we were having a rather rough time of it. All that was left of our once mighty group was a druid, the ranger, and myself.

Soon enough though, a strange looking woman turned up. Clad in a green hat, wearing no pants, and the barest of chest armor, she introduced herself as Ankles Dirtyfoot. After healing my wounds and making my skin as hard as wood, (er..)
we battled the sisters once again and routed them this time.

My druid companion seemed strangely affected by this exotic woman, for he kept kneeling down behind Ankles, apparently enchanted by her exposed behind. After explaining to the poor fool that doing this sort of thing was unacceptable he soon calmed down and stopped doing that. Besides, he was getting in MY way there - I couldn't see...

After collecting all the necklaces and bronze weappons from these nasty women, we decided to travel back to Kelethin to hand them to my friend, Tandan. After standing around, basically squabbling over what to do next, the group broke up.
Ankles and I headed to Steamfont mountains to hunt the minotaur and maybe get an axe, and the others camped for the night, I think.

Arriving in Steamfont at an early hour, we made haste to the caves, and fell upon a group of minotaur schlaking the crud out of some poor gnome, who perished in the initial onslaught.
After slaying many a cow, Ankles decided to hunt for something bigger..well she dissapeared down the dark depths of the minotaur caves, and returned with the biggest of the lot - The Minotaur Lord. Ten points if you can guess what happens next..

Ater congratulating Ankles on such a wonderful pull, I was determined never to see this woman again. Now dying once in a while is fine, but constant deaths is the name of MY game, each more ridiculous then the last. After dying numerous times to this "Lord" (who would not move from the entrance of the cave!) I was finally able to sneak in and get my body. I asked Ankles where hers was and to my surprise she said she already had it.

"Meet me at the big cog." Ankles said to me that day. Keeping my thoughts to myself at the time, I left for the cog..or so I thought. Now sometimes, I'm not the smartest of groupmates and the obvious thing you see around those caves are about four massive cogs. Now without specifically asking WHICH cog she meant I headed for the fisrt one.

Bad move. Steam elemental. You can't hit these without a magical weapon. What didn't I have at the time?

Dead. Run back to Steamfont see body..hmm rat. "Hail a giant plague rat!"..dead. After dying four or so times I was about to lose my new level of twelve. I ask Ankles for help..but she has gone LD (whatever that is) and what happens to aggro on me on my fifth corpse run?

A minotaur. Damn big hairy cow with an axe. I gritted my teeth and fought. The battle was going exceptionally bad, but for some odd reason I didn't die, the tide of battle slowly changed. I killed the cow and took it's axe, what a fine weapon it was!

When my companion came back from wherever she was, I gave her that axe, but she was loathe to take it, she said she felt badly for taking it and giving nothing in return. Well, by that stage of the night we were rather chummy so it was a pleasure for me to hand it over, and watch as she dealt powerful blows that could stun a enraged minotaur with ease.

Soon after, it was time to go, we were both exausted after many frequent battles, as she ran off ahead of me, I noticed a great brown blob in my field of vision. Without checking what it was I ran up to it, it was huge! and had teeth!
It was a Kobold Missionary. Death is Steamfont was common for me, but that was just painful that damn dog hit harder that the minotaur lord!

After the many deaths of Steamfont, I vowed never to go back, although I have broken it and done it two times..one of those times the missionary saw me again.

So from now you will hear my vow.

"I swear never to go back to that stinking hellhole known as Steamfont. Home to the creepy Gnomes, and filthy cows."

Ugh, I am falling asleep as I write this, so if I seem a bit rushed, it's not my fault. Besides, this MY journal.. Oh well, guess it's time to camp for the eve.

Signing off,

Taygar 18th Season Rogue, and walking death machine.

Re: Welcome to my world.

Phew! What a day it was been for me today I am so tired and can barely focus on the task ahead of writing it all down.

After yet again leaving the outpost of Firiona Vie, I managed to stumble my way through the stream into the Lake of Ill Omen. I've always wondered why exactly it was called that, and soon enough, I was to find out..the hard way.

My journey began around mid-morning, the sun was high in the sky, and dreadfully hot against the back of my already sunburned neck. The clean cool water of the stream was gloriously refreshing, and after a quick swim I was on my way. I met a couple of really good friends of mine fighting tigers on the beach, so I joined them and hunted for about an hour or so, without any major difficulties. After this easy run of victorys I knew my luck was about to change and sure enough, who came along, but Ankles herself.

I knew it was bound to happen, as soon as she comes near me, bad things begin to happen. My two allies, Daykeras and Dranoel suddenly found an urge to camp for a while. (I thought it odd, camping out in the middle of the day, but oh well.) So it left Ankles and I alone on the beach. After some fishing, and good natured chatter, I spoke to a great ally of mine who asked him if we would join him and his druid wife in battle.

We accepted the offer and met the other groupmates - a cleric and an enchanter. The battles that we fought were amazing, whether they were foul dragon-men, the skeletons of the resident Iskar, the Iskar themselves and the one thing I was after - goblins. After a number of positional changes around the area of the lake, the day that I had been secretly dreading arrived.

Ankles was to go to the continent, and take care of things for a while over there. I understood her motives for doing this, but I could not help but be sad, she is a wonderful companion, even if she does get me killed, though lately I seem to have been living a hell of a lot more. Perhaps I blame others when I should blame myself, but hey, why admit to your mistakes when you can pass blame onto others I say.

Well she laft the group and shortly after..I was bored. I was so bored that I didn't know what to do, so I got up to my usual tricks of running in frequent circles (No idea why) and climbing everything I see - trees, rocks, cliffs, ect. The others in my group apparently had some sort of falling out, as three members suddenly left, exchanging rude gestures with the other two. I don't know what it was about, I cannot understand the dribble that humans have the gall to call a language. But what I do know is that my simple, easy life beside this huge lake turned to a nightmare.

It was an ugly beast, that Sarnak. Tall, dark and grotesque.
Its fetid breath washed over my face as it screamed constantly during the battle. For some odd reason the damn thing took a liking to me, and a mad Sarnak on a skinny rogue is not a good thing. I payed for a heal, but then remembered the cleric, shaman and druid left, leaving me with a warrior (I think) and another rogue. Soon, with the Sarnak constantly tearing shreds from me, I fell, and apparently so did my other groupmates when the undead found them.

Soon afterwards, the other two decided to camp, leaving me to ponder my day so far. All in all, not a bad day..but then again the day wasn't over. Getting quickly bored of this lake, I headed back to Firiona Vie, seeking the sloace of a warm jug of wine.
That was when something totally unexpected happened.

I was making my way down the stream, when an Iksar came running up to me, waving his arms and talking his odd language. After standing there boggled for about five minutes while he kept repeating himself, he finally sighed and gave them to me.

Goblin Bracers. The ones I have been seeking. He gave me six of these bracers, adding to the two I had battled all morning for. I thanked the Iksar warmly, for thier race is not all evil I gather, and was on my way, feeling better than I had for quite some time. I quicky arrived in the forests of Firiona Vie, and was almost past the evil drachnids - spiders who can cast dread magiks, if you can believe it! When all of a sudden one of the creatures saw through my hide and sneak skill.

Well. That spider can hit and boy was he fast too. I had a spell to make me run faster, and he still caught me.
(Probably a fluke..I hope!)

At this point I decided to retire for the day, as I almost lost my nineteeth season. After a few drinks, alone, I retired back to my quarters overlooking the docks, wishing for some company to cheer me up.

Re: Welcome to my world.

Today I decided to have a day off fighting, and return home to Greater Faydark. It's really amazing how soon it takes before you actually get homesick, nothing beats my wonderful forest home, even if I really have nothing to return there for.

Whilst sitting on the giant log that I have always found to be a great place to relax, I had the sudden urge to go to the dwarven city of Kaladim. After I had finished buying all thr rusty daggers I could get my hands on, I felt the need for some fishing. Arriving at Kaladim's little fishing hole, I saw a familiar figure standing before me.

With a great whoop of joy I greeted Ankles by the pond, and set out to do some serious fishing. After quite some time, and a wonderful conversation, we both retired for the evening.

I am giving great consideration to staying on Faydwer for the time bieng, I have heard of magical weapons in the Estate of Unrest that I am interested in aquiring at this stage. Tomorrow, I shall set out to put the hideous undead guardians of the place to rest, once and for all...
