Just wanted to start a preemptive thread and say that we're welcoming a group of players from a small guild they had called Dawn Patrol.  They are RPers with priorities very much like our own and they've decided to join up with Saga to pursue our adventures together!  I'll let them post and take it from here, but I wanted to provide an extra shout out on the occasion.

Greetings, all, I'm Chryse and-- first of all-- I want to thank Vilidius for going through the trouble of picking out some of us smaller guilds and recognizing that we'd be better off joining a more established group.  I should consider us very lucky to have been contacted by such a veteran guild such as Saga because after looking into it, I was pleased to find a group of mature players who share the more casual style of play that we also do.

I started up Dawn Patrol because a few of my friends were really excited to play SWTOR and we wanted to ensure we could find a way to meet up and play on Day One.  We didn't really think about joining a larger group.  Call it a bit of laziness, but that is how it turned out.

A little about myself: I'm 40, and I live in Maryland.  RPG's are my favorite video game genre going back to Adventure on my Atari 2600 ("RPG" would be a very loose term for that one, I suppose) and my current favorite games are Mass Effect and Dragon Age.  I guess I have sold my soul to BioWare, but they've earned my respect.  My history of MMORPG's goes back to Ultima Online and EQ, and includes WoW, DAoC, and CoH thrown in for good measure.  Before MMO's, I primarily played the MUD DragonRealms.

When I am not gaming, I am a costumer (some use the term "cosplayer", but I am not a fan of that word).  I am a retired member of the 501st Legion and I currently costume with friends as a Colonial Marine from the movie Aliens.  I have a steampunk Colonial Marine costume and, at this year's Dragon*Con I debuted a custom set of alternate history Roman Praetorian Guard armor that I designed and built.

In SWTOR, I plan to play a Republic Trooper with the intention of eventually specializing as a shield-enhanced Vanguard for your basic tanking needs.  I'm looking forward to playing alongside you all!

Welcome to Saga guild!

Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.

This procedure is for the others here who will not see you in TOR so they can get to know you. You do not have to fill the roster card out to be part of Saga in-game. Name: Chryse Arris (*I've had people ask me how the first name is pronounced and it's "krice", rhymes with "ice".)
Class: Trooper/Vanguard, with a shield specialization
Race: Cyborg
Gender: Male
Alignment: Neutral Good (My character believes in what the Republic stands for, but not blindly so. He's a military man and will follow lawful orders.)
Crew Skills: I plan on going with Armormech, with scavenging and slicing to start, then switching out the latter for underworld trading at some point.

I plan on having a Sith Inquisitor character in our Imperial alt-guild, but the majority of my time will be spent with my trooper main.

Vilidius recruited me and the small group of friends I had gathered as a tiny guild.

I played alongside a few members of Saga during the Thanksgiving Beta and the one just before that, and I was quite comfortable.  Hi, Mixxi!  Remember my Hutt poledancing analogy?

As far as MMORPG's are concerned, I run the gamut from Ultima Online, EQ, DAoC, Anarchy Online, SWG, CoH/CoV, WoW, Warhammer: Online and Champions Online.

What are you looking for as a member of our guild?
I think one of the things that draws me in to a group is open friendliness, teamwork and a sense that the group overall has similar goals.  I like gaming with people who believe that the fun comes as part of the journey taken and not as a reward waiting at the destination.  Saga seems to have the atmosphere I am compatible with, and that will enhance the quality of the game or games I play.

Tell us of your past.
I was born on the lower levels of Courscant to a middle class family.  My father was a mid-level manager for a cybernetics manufacturer and my mother was a med-tech at a large medcenter.  Our neighborhood was relatively safe but encroachment from overlapping gang territories always seemed to be a threat that never materialized.  That all changed after the Sith sacking of the city-planet.

I was only 18 when the Sith destroyed the Jedi Temple and forced the Treaty of Courscant.  As a child I grew up idolizing the Jedi Order.  They were the defenders of the Republic I loved, but when they failed to stop the violence and sacking of the city that created so much suffering, I began to doubt their so-called "compassion".  My cynicism grew as they arrogantly packed up themselves and ran off to Tython.  In their place, the Army of the Republic carried the mantle of defending the citizens of the Republic.  Republic security forces, however, were stretched to their very limits just to provide the most basic services.  In many ways they still are, especially in the lower city.  In the vacuum of power, The Black Suns criminal organization took root in my home district and turned it into somewhat of a forced labor camp.  They were not gentle, either, and their violent campaign of consolidating power included acts of sabotage and terror.  I was caught in the open in a commercial district near my home when a Black Suns bomb blast severely injured me.  Thanks to my parents' connections, I was able to get better care than most of the more poor (read, non-human) citizens of the lower city district and received a number of cybernetic implants to replace organs and other tissue that were damaged in the bomb blast.

When I recovered well enough, my parents emplored me to get out of the lower city before, one way or another, the violence swept me away.  So I joined the Army of the Republic, and I swore that I would never, ever, leave a citizen defenseless against those who would prey on them.

What hobbies and directives do you presently have?
I don't have hobbies, unless you consider tinkering with my armor and shield generators hobbies.  I just focus on my job and what I can do to help the Republic become strong again, so that no citizen need to feel crushed beneath the heel of criminals or from the Sith Empire itself.

Where do you see yourself in the future?
All a soldier wants is to live another day, to be there to cover the backs of their fellow troopers.  If that's what is offered to me, I will take it.  Day by day.
