Greetings, folks!

I am a new recruit from the SWTOR boards, sweet-talked by a silver-tongued Vilidius to join Saga. I must say I'm glad to be here and hopefully get chatting with some of you fine folks soon.

I guess I'll provide some information on my gaming background. I grew up on point-and-click adventure games, which ultimately fueled my passion for gaming narrative and strong character development in gaming. Looking for these aspects of gaming, I naturally gravitated towards RPGs, playing more than I am willing to count. This eventually culminated into my finding a seemingly endless RPG called Everquest back in 1999. Maybe you heard of it?

In EQ, I stumbled across many servers until finding a home in a little place called Firiona Vie. Now, I hear many veterans here also found their homes there too, so I'm more than willing to hear and tell some stories about these good ol' times...if I can remember them.

Anyway, I was a Dark Elf Enchanter named Yamino coming from <Visions of Destruction> which merged into <Ebon Storm>, both of them small and homey guilds. This may be nostalgia speaking but I must say, I never had quite as much fun in any MMO as I did with my Enchanter. Controlling the ebb and flow of battle is a joy for me and none did it better than an Enchanter.

My main other MMO game I played was WoW on Shattered Hand / Korgath as a mage named Zellos in <Drama> from release until the first expansion. That experience was almost the complete opposite from my EQ experience, mainly focusing on raiding and PvP with a large guild. It was fun, but it ultimately soured my MMO experience so I went back to consoles for many years, only dabbling in MMORPGs for a brief time in games like AoC and DCUO.

Oh yeah, and if you hear a youngling in the background, that would be my niece (who turns 5 today actually!). She lives with me and my brother and tends to grab my headset any chance she gets, so be warned!

So yeah, that's a little about me. I can write for hours so I'll force myself to stop here. Nice to meet you all and thanks for stopping in!

Welcome! I'm one of those Firiona Vie EQ folks. I also played/loved enchanters. My main back on FV was a gnomish enchanter named Fnortner Maguffin in <Lux Aeternam>.

I think I knew a couple folks in <Ebon Storm>, but it's been so long it might take a necromancer to bring back those brain cells!
EQ1-FV: Fnortner, Grimwyrd, Fumoto, and army of alts. BDO: Salamandros. GW2: Arkturo. EQ2: Panacea. RIFT: Nock. SWTOR: Croaker.

I remember <Ebon Storm>. Always had a good rep. I think I grouped with them a time or two. I know ... we were all very alignment conscious in those days. But I would throw on a Tier'dal illusion, go anon, and often managed to fool people. I used to love doing that. I played Valquiss as though the illusion affected his psyche. Once I think Nina caught me at it. She wasn't impressed...

Did I mention I was also an enchanter? I also loved the control aspect. I am desperately hoping that it's meaningful in TOR again. I hope to play a control focused Consular in similar style.

Anyway, I digress. Welcome! When I get home I'll have a retro enchanter link for you.

Here's that enchanter link that I promised:

http://xornn.tripod.com/index.htm

Best ever roleplay guide to enchanting.  Unfortunately, I'm almost positive the site is abandoned and hence it's been archived by tripod or something with the annoying ads and bad formatting and pop ups.  But look past all that and take in the content.  Click on the main logo to enter.

I swear, with no word of exaggeration, that Master Xornn is who I learned enchanting from.  Never met him.  But that site is where I learned the craft.

Enjoy.

Sleet and wet mat!

I, too, remember the name "Ebon Storm".  My pally, Thadaeus, had occasional dealings with Teir'Dal from time to time, and I'm busting my brain trying to remember if the name Yamino feels slightly more than vaguely famliar for any reason in particular.

Anyhow, welcome!

1. I was Kanina K'Val, Epical Dwarven Bearded Priestess of Brell. (There were only 3 server-wide)
2. We didn't group together ever, because Nina didn't group with Dark Elves.
3. I didn't resurrect you becasue Nina didn't revive Dark Elves. She once ran across the Karanas to help someone in tells who was looking for a Rez. Found out it was a Dark Elf, spit on the corpse, and ran back to the Nexus.
4. There are a few exceptions to 2 & 3. Very rare. For some reason Yamino  sounds familiar, but I don't know could be from the boards even. But Ebon Storm from a meta-perspective were excellent people, so we are happy to have you.
5. Welcome to the light side, finally. The Dark side may have skimpy outfits and cookies, but we have  :brfm & :candle: and Snotbubbles, the cow.  :cow
The opinions expressed here are my own and I have my wife's permission to say so.

Thanks for the warm greetings!

Wow, many fellow enchanters! That's exciting. Master Xornn really is a blast from the past. However, my dark roots are exposed! Glory to Neriak and House Thex! *coughs* Oh, old memory jolted out there. Excuse me.

Yamino had quite a quirky attitude, being a pragmatic character more akin to Jarlaxle of Forgotten Realms fame. He spent many a day in his youth around cities like Ak'anon, Freeport, Qeynos, Riverdale, Kaladim and even Kelethin to learn languages while in the proper illusion. Wasn't learning languages fun on FV?

I was pretty active on the FV boards, so perhaps my name rings a bell somewhere from there. In-game, he would be a man of many faces but of one mindset. When Luclin came out and PoK was the new hub, he would be there quite frequently assisting in anyway he could. Growing up as a Dark Elf, building community isn't their strongest characteristic. As such, he would search out to find his own.

Welcome, Ser! Oh, WoW. We've all been there (I think). I was on so many servers, I can't remember. I had a max level Paladin and Death Knight the last time I played. I raided, pvp'd, and just wasted time. It was good for a while then got bored when it became too repetitive. I'm glad to see our crew steadily growing and hope to see you in game soon!

oakmist

Welcome.

I too remember Ebon Storm, though don't think I had any direct dealing with them.  And Yamino definately sounds familiar though I am guessing that would be from the FV boards as again I don't think we'd have mixed in game.

Anyhow, glad to have you with us.

Gith

Welcome.

I never played EQ and know nothing about the good ol' days. Yay! :D lol
