Hello and welcome!

I agree with what you said concerning UO.  I also got my gaming start there.  A few days into playing and I was wandering around outside a town and came across this fellow who asked me if I had seen any PKs.  I replied, "What's a PK?".  Then he killed me.

haha  ;D  I am sorry to laugh but that is just so UO.  My tailor used to collect cotton on the farm.  I think it was outside of moonglow just outside the town limits so the guards wouldn't kill them.  I would get killed there all the time me and my packhorse.

I tried out UO during the original beta.  It was such a mess.  It was kinda like hell that you logged into via a 36.6K baud modem.  Most of the experience during the beta was like this:

Enter your name and password to log in.

<somename> <somepass>

A screen appears after you log in. You can see your avatar (avatar, ironic, no) on the screen. You are standing in a town square next to some buildings. There are about 20 other avatars around.

After the initial screen loads, nothing happens. You watch as the screen idles for 5 minutes with this static image.

Then 10 minutes...

Then 15 minutes...

Then suddenly, it starts and everything happens at once! Mainly, you see 80% of the avatars say something along these lines:
"OH MY GOD THERE IS SO MUCH LAG"
"LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG"
"WHAT IS HAPPENING?"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH LAAAAAAAG"

Invariably, there would a bunch of people would move at once, and one or two were always avatars running at full speed, in their underwear, zipping across your view shouting "I CANT MOVE!" and they would just wink out of existence (carrier dropped) somewhere before they reached the edge of your screen.

Then there would be 15 minutes of screen freeze again.

It's the screaming phantom avatars in their undies that I'll never forget, even over a decade later.

Jhared

Sounds a lot like being at the opening of the Dark Portal just before TBC launched at WoW. Oh man... So much lag.  ;D

Welcome to Saga guild!

Please be sure to read the posts stickied at the top of this forum and be sure you agree with the rules and charter. This guild has a history, as you will see. It is, well, a Saga.

Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.

To become part of that, please take the time to fill out the attached roster card and post it to this message. This procedure is for the others here who will not see you in TOR so they can get to know you. You do not have to fill the roster card out to be part of Saga in-game. You can do it now or in the future. You can fill one out even if you do not wish to join the larger family. There is no pressure, and no rush. Take your time and look around.

Just a reminder: After your board rank is changed to recruit, you will be granted access to the private game related forums, such as questing and crew skills.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome!

Ryland

Please answer the following three questions, IN CHARACTER:

Tell us of your past.  I lived on Alpheridies with my parents for a short time until I was taken to the Jedi Academy.  This is not abnormal many Miraluka leave but we always return home eventually.  My time at the Jedi Academy was quiet.  Force sight is not the same. I spent much of my time studying rather than combat training.  That is probably why I am not as good as others now.  I spent a lot of time studying the Dark Jedi and why they turned.  I have come to the conclusion that lack of control of their emotions is one of the contributing factors.  I spend most of my time with my one friend.  Another Miraluka that did not make it through the Academy instead becoming a Trooper for the Republic. Her mother fell to the dark side when she was a young.  I believe my friends struggle to understand why he mother changed is what precipitated my interest that and my own inability to control my emotions.  I have struggled with my temper as long as I can remember.

What hobbies and directives do you presently have? I study the body and ways to heal as well as plants and other chemicals that aid in healing.  When I can I study in the Jedi Archives the history of fallen Jedi

Where do you see yourself in the future?  Back on Alpherides perhaps some day with my friend Avenga.
