The Starter Worlds for Launch

So I'm still playing catch up on how Wildstar works but I know that the races are split in half for starter worlds. How long is it before everyone meets up?

My beta character is level ten (Dominion) but, with my direction sense, I have no idea where I am in relation to the rest of the universe.

I know that at the end of the tutorial you can pick where you end up though you're encouraged to go to your race's world.

So here's my question. Is convergence soon enough that it's moot or with the starting area after the tutorial for Aurin and Mordesh being different than that of the Humans and Grannok, is it worth Saga selecting a race world to start?

A major factor in this is can you visit other worlds after a certain point in the game? I'd hate for anyone to miss out on their race's world permanently. I've checked out the Aurin/Mordesh world and it's quite pretty.

And when convergence occurs, how does Exile and Dominion interact? Are players in the opposite faction free to attack or do you never cross paths? Or do you still have to do duels?
Can cross-factions party?

I'm assuming no to the latter but I'm curious.

No cross faction play - you end up running into the opposite faction at around level 16 and up and you can attack each other if the one being attacked is flagged - attacking flags you.

On an rp pve server it shouldn't be an issue - just be careful of running into a out post of the other faction because the guards will eat you up.
And there will be neutral hubs as well.

For same faction play , you can select the same starting area as each other . You just have to choose the right shuttle down. Thy said they would make it more obvious come launch as well . The instance tutorial areas end at level 6 so you can be in the main game world and meet no matter what at a fairly quick level .
Ark ship is up to level 3 then 3 more levels on the world starter tutorial area .

Even if they don't implement it , the simple way I make sure you end up in the same zone is as follows :

After getting the last mission on the ark ship , you are told to click on the shuttle to travel down to the world . Just make sure you find the shuttle for the race you want to travel down with ( there is a shuttle departure lounge that you can in around to find the correct departure bay ) instead of clicking your default race shuttle which is next to the last quest giver for your race .

During the Alienware beta weekend, my Dominion level 10 ran as far as he could run. He went through a level 20's zone and ended up against a shiney green wall. He followed the edge of that off into the ocean and eventually died of fatigue. When he resurrected, he was in the Draken newbie zone (he had started in the Cassian). So the two same-faction newbie zones might be reachable on foot (glowing green walls notwithstanding).

The zones are connected through the capital cities. So aurin and mordesh come into Thayd from the north, humans and granok from the west. While I have not done this personally, I see no reason you cannot leave Thayd to check out the neighboring zone.

Once you go to your capitol at level 14, all races are expected to meet up... and then waste a few days with housing, dyes, DDR, and getting into Dorian Walker's damn museum.

Oh, and I will add that the races are paired up, so even though humans and granok take different ships to leave the ark, they meet up about ten minutes after landing.

Ahhh. Not a problem. For some reason I thought they were on completely different worlds and couldn't reconcile why.

I'm wondering about starting server choice as well.  Given that the hardest part of challenges is player over-population making them hard to complete, I'd like a less crowded launch server.  I'm thinking a PvP server might do well in general, as they tend to have fewer very oblivious players.  Maybe more griefing.. but honestly, there's plenty of quest theft going on in PvE that I'd like like a server with some breathing space.

Also, lag/latency issues will be pretty bad at launch I'm guessing, so a less populated server will be a blessing for that matter as well.

Obviously, it's nice to have everyone together on the same server as much as possible.. anyone have any ideas for a good first pick?  Or will you keep an eye out for the RP-specific server (which I find never actually have many legitimate RPers though).

We will be going rp pve server and the server choice will also depend on our friend guilds . It may end up being the more populous rp realm if there is a choice of more than one but I'm not worried about it. The servers may start out busy but the populations will stabilize later . And it will lead to a better auction house and help with the rp guild raid circle and maybe a warplot alliance down the line .

Rp servers have more rpers then other servers simply even though the majority may not rp :P . And challenges are going to be tweaked so they are completable while still hard even with denser populations . They're working on dynamic spawn rates I believe as well .

Lol! I am totally gonna waste a lot of time playing DDR. I played that a lot IRL in high school. And housing will be my end goal to basically everything I do in Wildstar. I want heads on my walls!!   And plushies ...
