A fond farewell 6/20/02

This ode to my friends was whispered behind closed doors, but I wanted to repeat it in a place where others can hear it and know that I will always cherish the adventures I shared with you.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will soon be forced to journey far from Norrath, and most likely will not return. This verse was originally part of a longer conversation, but I believe it will still be understandable. It is a way of saying good-bye to you all.

I greatly enjoyed our Kaesora run
Through the dank undead crypt
Warrior blades steadily dripped
With our mad cleric pulling
Not a moment was dulling.

So, 'tis quite sad, I must say
To be going away
Just as you and new others
Join my sisters and brothers
(If Elie were here he surely would balk
at my off-the-cuff "we are family" talk.)

But, like Eliezer, I must ride away
Were events any different, I would so gladly stay
You all in Saga are my true, worthy friends
Will I return to Norrath? That all depends...

Long-winded Valquiss, sweet-tempered Alora
Finneas, Rorack, Elsbet, Katryna
Gentle friend Dara, kind grumpy Kanina
Speaking of grumpy, where is Brutin the Coarse?
Even he I will miss, so complete my remorse
Sari, Yumen, Syllestrae, and Wystro
Others long-gone... Now who have I missed? Oh,
Mixxi, Bindi, Keshu, Waid
Tinwin (Ahris), Menemas, Fayd
Titaisia, Tambre, Baers, and Namae...
Some no doubt forgotten... but what can I say?

Be brave, kind and bold (You don't have to be told)
Take care of each other, welcome more to the fold...

But one thing I ask of my treasured guildkin:
When deep in a dungeon, with nerves wearing thin
When surrounded by evil as black as the night
When clearly you're nearing the end of your fight
Don't panic, don't falter, don't make an excuse
Stand your ground, swing once more, and remember Halus....
