Drakvar

Please write an introduction to your character.
Include name, race, gender, profession, alignment.
If you have any crafting disciplines or have other talents, please include those as well.


Drakvar is a slightly misguided Aurin Spellslinger, I would place him under Chaotic Good.  The plan is for him to be a Settler and craft weapons and light armor.

Do you have alternate characters on the same server?

Normally I play one character due to less play time than I'd like.


How did you hear of us?

Online friend found you when looking into guilds for WildStar.


Is there anyone you have got to know from the family, IC or OOC?

Forsetti and I have been playing many online games together.  He is currently an initiate with Saga.


What types of games have you participated in? (include all types, such as pen/paper or MMORPGs, PC, Console, board games, card games.)

D&D, AD&D, Risk, Everquest I/II, Guildwars I/II, WoW, and a lot of others.

What other games are you interested in that Saga participates or is moving towards?

What aspects of gaming have you enjoyed in the past and/or looking forward to enjoying with Saga? Light raiding, dungeon delving, situational roleplay, story-writing, crafting, PvP, etc.

I enjoy grouping with people that I know.  Light raiding and some PvP are always fun.  Not a huge crafter and haven't really done much of the roleplay and story writing.  I enjoy reading the stories and roleplay just not that strong when it comes to writing it myself.

What are you looking for as a member of our guild?

Really for me I'm looking for a good core group to be able to enjoy more aspects of the game.

Tell us of your past.


   They say that Smuggling is a hard life, but Drakvar didn't think so.  Smuggling was most likely the simplest and most natural thing he had ever done (though in truth that may only be in comparison to the rest of his life).  He had been born on a modified garbage scow that traveled on the edge of a rusty makeshift Exile fleet.  Outside a battle raged as Exile pilots in outdated mismatched fighters struggled desperately to cover the fleets retreat from a group of sleek Dominion Incursion fighters.  The Draken pilots had Vaporized four fleet vessels  and half of the Exile fighters before they were destroyed.   Drakvar's father (Jessy) had been mortally wounded while shielding his wife as she gave birth to their new son when the vessel was winged erupting a compression coil.  Drakvar's mother (Willow) had pressed Jessy to name their only son, as he lay dieing and with his final breath he uttered "Drakvar".  Now to be honest no person in the room knew for sure if this was an answer to Willow's pleas or just a general request.  You see "Drakvar" in the old tong would be translated into "kill all Draken" or perhaps "Draken must die".  Lacking a better idea and because this was her husbands dieing request the name was applied.  These were Drakvar's first few moments in existence and things only got worse from there.  The utter adoration his mother had showered upon him, lack of a strong hand and the misinterpretation of his name by the other Exile children("Drakvar the Draken" they would shout) made him ever so antisocial even for an Exile.  This is why he became a smuggler.  Months alone on his own vessel suited him just fine and outsmarting the Dominion blockades was the greatest joy he had ever know in his troubled life.

   It was through these events that he found himself in his current predicament.  On the scanner to his left he could see the Dominion frigate gaining on him.  Drakvar was a savant when it came to ship drive systems but even a chua couldn't make a cargo vessel outrun a shiny sleek Dominion Frigate.  His ship sensor alarms exploded in a cacophony of sound as they warned of the Frigate's target lock. Drakvar's sharp wits had saved him from many such situation (not to mention the wrath of many a fair maid when he bumped into them after a convenient disappearance months before).  This time Drakvar was drawing a blank and the cannons bristling from his pursuer were charging to fire.  There was no place to go in the vastness of space and he certainly couldn't slipstream.  It was time to cut his losses.  Drakvar made for the escape pod just as the first blooms of light erupted from the Dominion guns.  He reached the cramped cylindrical pod and a burst grazed the ships hull sending him reeling.  Only through honed reflexes did he steady himself  and shove his body into the pod sealing the door.  Drakvar slammed the eject button milliseconds before the next burst tore his ship in half.  The pod was being thrown free with the other debris when Drakvar began shutting down all power and life support and two more blasts turned his ship (read as "his one true love") into chaff .   A ship as large as the frigate could never distinguish his pod from the other chunks drifting around him but the sensors would pick up energy like he could pick out a Crito tick in his Dark Drive, that is to say easily.  To soon it began to get hard to breath, Drakvar needed this ship to leave soon or risk slipping out of consciousnesses.  Why were they not moving on?  They could obviously see no trace of life.  The Frigate scanned the area again and again. Drakvar had really pissed them off over the passed 3 months, slipping through the planetary blockade over 100 times bringing food & medical supplies.  He was finally going to pay for his arrogance.  Drakvar could feel his senses slipping, he had used almost all the O2 in the pod and was surviving on his body's meager recycled air. It was time for action, the Dominion ship was directly overhead and showed no signs of moving on.  Drakvar tapped the control panel with the speed of a practiced hand cycling on all the power at once. As the oxygen filled the cab he punched the instruments once more firing his emergency thrusters toward his enemy. The pod closed the gap in a second and as they collided Drakvar engaged the docking magnets sealing himself to his enemy's hull.  A moment..... then two.  After half an hour with no response to his actions it was clear that the sensors were accepting him as part of the ship.  Time for some sleep. His pod would support him for three days and he would have an opportunity to morn Lola later.


What hobbies and quests do you presently have?

With the lose of my ship Lola and now firmly on the ground of Nexus my smuggling career is in a difficult stage.  What I do have are these two pistols and my knack to retrofit.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

Back in a lucrative business with the Lola II.

Welcome aboard Drakvar! For someone that feels they are not a strong writer when it comes to roleplay the intro was very dramatic  :) I liked that his ship was called Lola.

Oh and the name Lola comes from my chocolate lab.

May need to make some changes to the story because of the time line.  At first I was going to make my char human.

Ok well the first paragraph of Drakvar's story really doesn't work if he is Aurin.  So I need to change the first part of his story.  Otherwise the timeline puts Drakvar at about 2 years old.  Little too young to be smuggling.

So replacing first paragraph with the following:

They say that Smuggling is a hard life, but Drakvar didn't think so.  Smuggling was most likely the simplest and most natural thing he had ever done (though in truth that may only be in comparison to the rest of his life).  He had been born on a rare Celestial event called the withering. The withering was actually a solar eclipse that occurred once every several hundred years and could last as long as a week, though the Aurin had no way of knowing that at the time. During the withering it was not uncommon for Aurin to loose connection with the weave as the forest struggled with its temporary starvation and so it was with Drakvar's mother, Willow. Drakvar or Spunk, as Willow had named him, had been born in the middle of a four day withering, stunted and almost entirely disconnected from the weave. Growing up was difficult for him, being cruel or "mean" was not tolerated among the Aurin but that only made the silent rift between "Spunk" and the other children all the more unbearable. In his 12th year Spunk began to develop what his father Jessy described as peculiarities. Cursed with his lonely mind and no true friends among his peers he began to demonstrate an affinity for contraptions and what the Exiles would later call "Rube Goldberg Machines". It was in Spunk's 20th year that the Exiles arrived on Arboria and it was as if a whole new universe had opened up for him. In truth it had, Spunk hounded and pestered the human mechanics and engineers and made fast friends with them all. When the Humans left Arboria Spunk became the very first Aurin Exile. For the next 2 years he traveled the stars soaking up every bit of tech he could. When the call for help came from his home and his people Drakvar flew into a frenzy not seen since a mischievous Granok friend thought it would be fun to offer him 2 caffeinated beverages. Spunk demanded to be in the thick of battle with the Granok Mercs, his demands were over ruled but his insistence won him a seat as a pilot in the rescue mission. The ship he flew was pieced together from spare parts and the biggest hunk of junk in the fleet but as he left the hangar, in the glow of Arboria he christened her Ai, Lola. Spunk had no intention of ferrying survivors off the planet, those invaders had messed with the wrong Aurin.....  In the following hours  Spunk earned 2 nick names. One from the Aurin "Hero of RockHollow" and one from the Granok Mercs he fought beside "Drakvar" which in the old tong means "Little Draken Slayer" the last one stuck. When the exile fleet escaped, Lola stayed behind. There were still people on Arboria  and months alone on his own vessel suited him just fine not to mention outsmarting the Dominion blockades was the greatest joy he had ever know in his troubled life.
