Jasyn

Name:  Jasyn Talyngard
Guild:  Saga, EQ2

Alts:  Wiffle, Gambyll
Other RPGs:  Everquest - Thadaeus Talyngard
Horizons - Bramwell Fedwyk

Race:  Half Elf
Gender:  Male
Class:  Ranger
Trade:  Provisioner
Alignment:  Neutral (but leans toward neutral-good if it’s a good hair day)
Deity:  Officially, Jasyn worships none.  Growing up in a world abandoned by the gods, he really knows little of them.  Unofficially, he worships the god called “Coin,” but alas, that god has abandoned him, too.

Short Bio:   Born to a family of seafarers and island foragers, wherever there is water near, Jasyn is bound to feel right at home.

Shortly after The Shattering of Luclin, Jasyn was forced to abandon the island home he knew, where his family had resided for several generations, as striking fragments of the moon caused the seas to roil and rise.

With a little luck at his side, Jasyn has brought his carefree & easygoing ways to Qeynos, where he hopes to find a new home and a new lucky star.

In Character History & Goals:  Sit back, and tell us of your history…

“I can have a seat?  Well, don’t mind if I do.  Thanks.”

“Um… you want me to what?”

“Well, okay.  We just met and all, but if ya really wanna know…”

“But first thing’s first… you’re buyin’ the ale, right?”

Sporting his usual flashy grin, Jasyn quickly leapt into the nearest chair, immediately making himself at ease as he propped his feet onto the table in front of him.  He leaned back in his chair, precariously balancing it on its back two legs, as he casually folded his hands behind his head.

The Listener frowned ever so discreetly as he gently nudged Jasyn’s feet aside, yet Jasyn remained as steady as ever.

“’Cause, ya know, if I don’t get a little ale to keep my throat from gettin’ dry, I don’t think I can guarantee that my story’s gonna be any good.”

“Heh.  On the other hand, I’m not gonna guarantee it’ll be any good even WITH ale… unless ya plan on drinkin’ some yourself.  Then, in that case,  my story might seem a little better.”  Jasyn nodded at his own sound reasoning.

The Listener strummed his fingers across the tabletop.

“Uh.  Yeah.  Right.  Well, I’d always heard that my family roots went back a few hundred centuries,” Jasyn shrugged, “But, um, I don’t really know much ‘bout that ‘cept that I come from a line of humans, elves, and… heh, other half-breeds like me.”

“I lived on an island in the middle of the ocean.  My family’s been… or had been… livin’ there for a few generations, so we were kinda isolated I guess ya could say.  Real peaceful place, ya know.  I kinda miss it.  We lived off the land and got by just fine.  Yeah, I tell ya… I knew every inch of that little place.”

“I guess that’s why I always feel so lost here now.  Compared to back home, Antonica and Qeynos are… geesh!  They’re HUGE ya know.”

“Yeah.  But anyway, we had to leave the island after The Shattering.  The seas were gettin’ pretty rough and rocks kept fallin’ from the sky.  No tellin’… it’s probably all underwater by now.”

“I sailed off on my own,” Jasyn smirked as he remembered something.  “I always kinda fancied gettin’ the chance to do that someday, but now that I think ‘bout it, maybe that wasn’t the best time.  Heh.”

“I’d always been better on land than on water… or in the air, for what it’s worth.  I usually left the sailing to the rest of the family.  They were better at it.  Heck, pops use’ta tell me this story ‘bout how my great-great-grandad… or someone…  got his start on the tall ships.  It’s how he found that little island in the first place.  Or so I’m told ya know.”

“Hm.  Yeah.  Like I was sayin’, I sailed off in what turned out not to be the most seaworthy of crafts.  Got myself shipwrecked, and I was stranded for a good while ‘til the seas finally started to calm down and this nice group of fellas in a much sturdier vessel came and whisked me off to the Isle of Refuge.  Yep.”

“When I finally got to Qeynos, I heard ‘bout this tavern with the best ale this side of The Willow Wood.  The guards took some convincin’ before they’d let me through the city gates.  Don’t know what that was all ‘bout.”

“Told ya it’d be boring.  So now here I am.  I figured since I’m here maybe I could just stay.  So whattaya say, huh?”

Jasyn popped upright in his chair, raising his mug of ale to The Listener before drawing a sip, grinning all the while.

What sorts of things do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy fishing,  swimming, and strollin’ in the moonlight.  (Or is that moons’ light these days?)  Use’ta do a lotta stargazin’ back home, too.  *grins* Been so busy gettin’ acquainted with bein’ a new arrival to this city that I haven’t been payin’ much attention to the stars lately.  But nothin’s gonna stop me from lookin’ up, ya know.

What are your main goals?

Hm.  Well, I wanna find myself a new home of course.  This is working out well so far, but it’s all kinda different from what I’ve been use’ta for most of my life.  I’m gettin’ to know my way ‘round a little better everyday.  Been finding a little work doin’ what I know best.  *grins*  Scoutin’!

When I got to Qeynos, I heard there’re people who can teach ya more advanced forms of scoutin’ that I never even thought I’d get a chance to learn back home.  So I’m gonna learn everything I can, and do all the work I can find in Qeynos… ‘cause work earns ya pay, and well… *tugs a lightweight coin purse from one of his bags*  Dangit!  I think my rent’s due again…

Hm.  Anyway… sometimes when I’m relaxing, I like to make a little mess in the kitchen.  Heh.  Hunting, foraging, and preparin’ my own food… now that kinda reminds me of home.

If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll run into my family here if they made it.  *shrugs*  But I’m not gonna worry ‘bout them too much because I know they can take care of themselves wherever they go.
