"Hold here!" one of the dark elves called out to the rest of the group. Holding up an odd stone the smaller elf looked out across the bog "They're near, get the nets out and ready the wizard" without a word several men rushed about uncovering a row of strange devices while an older worn looking man stepped forward holding a tall black staff in one hand. Staring out across the murky water the head scout nervously fingered the handle of his short sword, jumping suddenly at the sound of a twig breaking to his left his eyes fell on a small deer in the brush. Letting out a deep sigh he closed his eyes for a second and turned back towards the water, trying to recoil in horror at the site of the waiting buldge in the water the elf could do nothing but throw his hands infront  of himself in protest as the wart covered figure snatched him from his spot and deep into the water without a sound. Old eyes scanned the waters from under the low hanging cowl, a tingle of magic sliding slowly into the tips of his fingers as the smell of mold and moss creeped stronger into the group, they knew their prey was close. Holding a hand out the young elf, who seemed to be the leader, ordered for them to ready the nets and hold. He knew they were waiting, waiting for the perfect moment to attack...and he was going to give it to them. Turning his back to the waters he let a laugh out and waved to the others to relax, almost as soon as he turned away a rush of water exploded as several trolls leaped forward at the Elf. Trained day in and day out he was fast, moving like lightning the elf spun in about in a blaze bringing the pommel of his scimitar hard against the closest foe to send it whirling back into the water in a daze. Expecting the trap the other elves aimed their net launchers and pulled switches, sending heavy metal threaded nets whipping about the remaining trolls. Screams rang out as the monsters kicked and clawed about, holding a small device the lead elf let several small barbs fire off into each troll bringing them to a sleep like state.
Spinning still he opened his red burning eyes letting their gaze drift over the dark black stone work, a figure moving close to him "Hmm, I wonder if this one will live" sounding like an inward question. A second figure moved close to the troll carrying a small pointed tool, jabbing it quickly into the trolls side he stepped back with the sample of blood and made his way out of the room. Giving a smile the first figure took a step back "we'll see if you live troll, then maybe you'll be of use to me." feeling his head burdening to hold up his vision began to slip away into slumber once more.
Three years passed since that day and his master even gave him a name, "Qil" translating into "Slave", he didn't like the name much but didn't care much seeing any name better then none at all. Being forced to test his masters experiments out Qil couldn't of been more thankful for his body's natural resilience. He'd never thought much about it but sometimes he was allowed to watch his master's other experiments, usually on woodland Elves, Fea and Gnomes, Qil felt a deep distaste at the site...like he was watching himself on the tables and just about as helpless. Responseable for feeding his masters pets Qil often spoke for long times with those that still held a sense of mental awareness, one such Gnome captive caught Qil's attention with a few simple words "Have you ever though about leaving?" Of course he had thought of leaving, he almost wanted to reach through the bars and grab the gnome by the collar "I've seen the look you have when he tortures the others, it doesn't settle with you well..I can get you to a save place far from the dark elves reach." the little gnome spoke softly. Tilting his head Qil moved closer, "whats yous be having in mind?" reaching into his pocket the gnome took a small white oval stone out "This'll take myself and a small group of people to a forest outside of Qeyros...but I can only use it outside of this place, the magic here is too strong to teleport." looking about the troll showed his teeth "and hows me be knowing I can trust yous not to kill me once we be out?" it was an honest question, most people would kill a troll without though given the chance "I can't show you that I won't without doing it, in my city we have something called trust...I know they don't speack of it here but I promise you I'll give you a safe place to live far from here." Nodding Qil couldn't really care less, he'd rather take his chances in the world then remain here. Fishing a small metal wire from his pocket the troll sprung the lock in a few seconds, giving a small handshake to the gnome they made their way unseen out of the house and to Darklight woods. The gnome kept his promise and took Qil with him to Qeyrons and found him work at the docks and local smith doing heavy physical labor, it was better then bing a wizards pet and he was paid for it so Qil didn't mind much, even changed his name back to his original name of "Kakirak"
