Thoughts on FFXIV?

Hi all

I just noticed (though maybe it's old news) that FFXIV has a "street date" of late September posted.  So now I believe it.  More or less.  I believe they'll at least make it before the end of 2010.   

My situation right now is that I'm working way too many hours at my job and that will likely persist into May or so 2011.  But I've also missed my MMOs and I'm in the market for a new one.  Very sincere apologies to everyone trying to lure me back into EQ2 but I'm simply one of those people who's most enthused by the new and unexplored.  That's always been the case.

So really I'm just interested to know if other Sagaites intend to give this one a try at all.  Needless to say I'd love some company.  For at least half a year I'd definitely be more of a casual gamer.  For those who may still remember me you'll recall that isn't my natural approach so we'll see how that goes.  But one way or another I simply won't have the hours to devote to keeping up with the leading edge of anything.

Thoughts and expressions of interest are welcome.  I don't expect any commitments or anything, but if anyone else were going to play it would be good to at least be on the same server.

Hey Valquiss!

I've not been a big FF fan over th eyears, and like EQ-2 fine though don't get to play near as much as I would wish. As for new stuff, The Secret World intrigues me...but whether it will prove a good game...who can say?

No Final for me, but the Secret World seems promising and then there's the Star Wars MMO, but who knows really

I was a fan of the early FF games, but lost interest several incarnations ago.  Right now I'm looking forward to the Star Wars MMO and that will probably be the next MMO I try.

Am I wrong in my sense that Secret World is a first person shooter?  I really can't stand FPS.  I'm not entirely sure if I suck at FPS because I dislike them or if I dislike FPS because I suck at them, but either way the end point is the same.  I both dislike them and suck at them.

If it isn't a FPS after all I'll take another look at it for sure.

Yeah, I too am not thinking this is an FPS type game...that's not really my scene either. But I like the idea of a good game based on something other than swords and sorcery. Much as I like that genre, it's been so overly focused on that something like Secret World could be very fresh and fun.
