I'm sure most of you probably could care less about pro wrestling, but the sport lost one of the greatest performers it has ever seen.

If you've been a fan in the last two decades, you at least know who he is.

RIP Randy Savage

I was never a real fan of the Macho Man, but he sure made his mark on the sport. He'll be missed.

Oh YA!
He will be missed.
He's a part of my childhood that's for sure.
He entertained millions and that's pretty impressive to me.
R.I.P.

I tried so, so hard not to post the exact same thing (since I've never been a big fan of "professional" wrestling, this is the significant pop culture mark he leaves me with outside of that realm).

In the nerd realm, he starred as Bonesaw McGraw in Spider-Man and did the voice of Rasslor on Dexter's Laboratory and Leonard Ghostal (Space Ghost's grandfather) on Space Ghost, Coast to Coast.

And yes, he was the face of Slim-Jim for a long time and will probably be best known for that in the pop culture world.

Yeah, I was never a big fan of wrestling in general, but the sheer goofy drama silly of it has a bizarre sort of charm in it's odd way. In fact, in today's more "advanced" Circus Maximus of MMA and such, I suspect looking back that Wrestlemania is to some "middle aged" folk of today not entirely different than looking back at Father Knows Best, or I Love Lucy,  to the generation before mine.

Dang...now I want a Slim Jim, while I get lucky and tune in to find that an old Hogan's Heroes is on some classic TV cable channel.

well you have to say he was one of the biggest names in the "sport"(quotes used because the results were pre-planned not because i don't consider them athletes) considering that ESPN actually had a story on him the day he died. of course about half of it was about the slim jim spokesman days but did cover his wrestling as well.

i suppose he'll get inducted into the WWE hall of fame next year now- him and vince mcmahon never got along well enough to agree to it beforehand but now i guess vince can do what he wants- maybe him and Miss Elizabeth together which would be appropriate
