Well met and met well!

So, I would be the fiance that Elandri had mentioned. I am an almost 40 technical support monkey for a medical device company that just relocated from my home state of Washington to eastern Wisconsin, and apparently couldn't manage to shake me off in the process. When I am not working or gaming, I spend my time having people point at me and laugh when I tell them I am new to the midwest and have never gone through a midwest winter. At this point, my personal theme song is just a laugh track.

I've been gaming in some capacity (pen an paper, atari, apple IIe, Commodore 64, arcades, PC) most of my life, and have been almost exclusively into MMOs since the day I walked into my brother's bedroom while he was beta testing Ultima Online and pointed at the screen saying "that is a real person, and that is a real person, and that....". It was definitely on of the most profound gaming moments of my life.

UO was my first love, and remains somewhat on a pedestal for me in respect to how I view all other games. An enormous chuck of my fondest MMO memories come from UO.

I tried EQ a bit off and on after leaving UO, but a bulk of my time was spent in Asheron's Call both as a player and as a member of the "Vanguard" team doing testing for Turbine (eventually, albeit briefly, as a contractor).

From there the list kinda explodes all over the place. I spent a fair amount of time in City of Heroes, and then way too many years in World of Warcraft as the main tank of the guild (tanking is at the core of who I am both in game and out of game).

I've also played (not in this order):

LoTRO
Anarchy Online
Allods (My god, the armor textures are amazing in this game)
Horizons
AC2
EQ/EQ2
Champions Online
Star Trek Online

And a handful of games that weren't impressive enough to remember (I am a horrible, prolific beta whore).

I found Saga through Elly, but we've both been rather desperately seeking a guild family to laugh and cry with in TOR. Our previous guild (for whom I still maintain the guild website, go figure), is basically staying with WoW. And at the beginning of this year I hit a burnout for WoW that I simply never managed to recover from.

I am have completionist issues, and plan on throwing myself at every single Datacron in the game...

Welcome to both of you!  We've got so many couples these days I feel like we should start a bridge club, but I guess that's what happens when your guild gets older.

Welcome again!

Aw thanks, girl. Everyone has made us feel right at home. You're our kind of people!

Catri

Welcome! If the weather in Wisconsin is anything like the weather here in Ohio, winter is evil.  Fleece blankets, layered clothing, and hot chocolate help, though. On the bright side, we learn fun vocabulary terms like "black ice" and "wind chill".   :gel:

Welcome again to Saga guild!

Please be sure to read the posts stickied at the top of this forum and be sure you agree with the rules and charter. This guild has a history, as you will see. It is, well, a Saga.

Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.

As an Initiate, you should now have access to the private game related forums, such as questing and crafting disciplines.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome!

Wow, you found the original welcome post (although I think it is wandering the forums and taking root in strange places). I suppose that eliminates my ability to falsely claim that it was a timeless treasure full of wit and humor that was lost to the ages, but "trust me, it was a work of art".

Oh well. The facts contained within remain true enough, although I have since gone from fiance of Elly to husband of Elly, and we have one glorious year of weirdness under our belts. I still haven't seen a real midwest winter, but rumor has it that this year is probably going to be nice and ugly, so I may get my wish yet.

It has been a long and strange journey through virtual worlds, and during that journey I crossed paths with Mixxi and Talon in GW2. An ever present reminder of just how much affection I have for Saga.

Now I just need to track down Vilidius and make him promise to continue calling me "Ethwin", as I was dubbed during the TOR beta days.
