Greetings SagaFamily,

Baku here, a member of Chryse's Dawn Patrol before our assimilation by your fine establishment.  I've known Chryse since my tour in MD a few years ago during our time in the 501st and I greatly appreciate his efforts to pull us all together.  My philosophy is "gaming is fun, but more fun with friends (and ale)"

At this point, I thought I would throw out my history as well since Chryse set such a fine example.   I am 32 and currently living in Belgium.  I have about a year left in my tour before Uncle Sam sends me someplace new.  My wife and I (who will also be joining) enjoy Europe and traveling....especially the drinking of many fine ales and wines.  Like Chryse, I also don funny outfits when the chance arises.  I am an active member of the 501st and also sport a set of Colonial Marine gear.  I even throw on a fedora and crack the whip  :ana once in a while (e.g. I have a Indiana Jones-Raiders of the Lost Arc costume).  My gaming history stretches back to EQ and runs through EQ2, Guild Wars, EVE, WoW, WoT, and LOTRO.  When not playing Mass Effect and DragonAge, you'll find my wife and I saving Middle Earth mostly.

Again, like Chryse, I'll be channeling my military might through a heavily armored, BFG-wielding Trooper that will train in the Commando skills set.   :exXO:

That about sums me up.  I am looking forward to gaming with everyone!

Cheers!

Howdy, Baku!  Glad to have you on board.  :wv

Yes, welcome.
And thank you for serving.
And for wearing the funny suits. We need more costumed players in the world.
The opinions expressed here are my own and I have my wife's permission to say so.

Welcome to Saga guild!

Please be sure to read the posts stickied at the top of this forum and be sure you agree with the rules and charter. This guild has a history, as you will see. It is, well, a Saga.

Saga is also part of a multi-game guild formed when a few wandered off to try other games. Sister guilds have formed, and we all come here to check on each other. This multi-game guild is currently called SagaFamily. We are indeed a family.

To become part of that, please take the time to fill out the attached roster card and post it to this message. This procedure is for the others here who will not see you in TOR so they can get to know you. You do not have to fill the roster card out to be part of Saga in-game. You can do it now or in the future. You can fill one out even if you do not wish to join the larger family. There is no pressure, and no rush. Take your time and look around.

Just a reminder: After your board rank is changed to recruit, you will be granted access to the private game related forums, such as questing and crew skills.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome!

I had the chance this weekend to put a lot of thought into my Commando's back-story.  Much of that thought focused on how I could incorporate a Legacy name that can span multiple races, classes, and even factions.  I know a lot of guildies have posted their own ideas on this (squadron names, etc.), but I think I came up with a good angle on how to make the Legacy system make sense to me.  Below is the first half of Heilbronn's story.  Still working on the next parts.  Enjoy!

The Rheinhart Legacy

In war, certain items often become limited in their availability:  fuel, ammunition, bacta, etc.  These are commodities that remain in high demand; things that people want...things they care about.  One thing that war doesn't limit, but routinely provides an overabundance of, is orphans. Thanks to the on-again, off-again conflicts between the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic following the sacking of Coruscant, orphans on both sides have been in great supply.  And unlike the wanted items I already listed, orphans are merely seen as just another burden on an already over-taxed bureaucracy.  I should know...I was one of them.

Looking back, I was just shy of 13 standard when my parents departed for work the day Coruscant fell.  It was the last time I ever saw them.  Left with our housecarl droid, I didn't realize what was happening until it pushed me into one of our hab complex's inner rooms.  Despite the walls, it was then that I started hearing the turbolaser blasts and the sirens.  I could never recall much after that.  I was told my complex took a direct hit by one of the medicaes who attended me when I regained consciousness.  She muttered something about the complex likely being too close to the Jedi Temple and being in the line of fire.  All I remember is the lights flashing and the sound of thunder.

The medicaes said I was lucky, only a few broken bones and a scar or two.   Nothing a bacta treatment wouldn't fix of course, but as I said before, bacta wasn't being spared for the likes of us during that turbulent time.  The bones healed naturally, the scars are still there.  The weeks following were a whirlwind of being shuffled between temp habs and processing facilities.  I asked about my parents initially, but the staff would merely look at me sadly and turn back to their datapads.  Seeing the destruction wrought upon my homeworld by the Sith, I was old enough to understand what that look meant and stopped asking.  My family wasn't special, just another unit of Republic citizens doing their part to make a living and the few relatives I did have were unaccounted for; so that left me at the whim of the Republic...just another orphan in a galaxy full of them.

*****

Three months after the Sith destroyed the life I had once known, I found myself on a bulk transport with a dozen or so other orphans.  It was a ragtag bunch, mostly humans, several Twi'leks, a Zabrak or two, and even a Miraluka.  We were all kids, some older than me, others younger.  None of us knew where we were headed, just that we were told that this would be our final stop, our new "home"...no more temp habs.  Most would think this would be very welcomed news to us, but the reality was a little different.  The months spent in the temp habs had taught me much that my former "normal" life had sheltered me from.  Life under the umbrella of galactic conflict was hard, and in such dire situations, a natural order takes place.

Those orphans that were bigger, stronger, and/or faster than their peers of course took advantage of these traits.  It was a constant struggle to maintain the few meager possessions the Republic provided us, let alone anything of personal value.  Fortunately for me, I apparently came from sturdy stock.  I was big for my age:  tall, broad shouldered, and though lanky, was strong enough to hold my own.  This kept most of my more "opportunistic" peers at bay.  Still, I had my fair share of brawls within the temp habs; especially among the bigger orphans who were smart enough to form packs.  This was my new life and the expectation that our new "home" would be more of the same was already well established in my mind.

We touched down planet-side after a few days in hyperspace.  We didn't know which planet precisely, but the air was breathable and the gravity was close enough to Coruscant-standard that I didn't notice a difference.  Outside of these basic observations, I think the first thing that struck me as odd was the walls...the walls, and the large ground-to-space turbolasers mounted on them.  Everything within the walls was even stranger.  The buildings, and there were many, were pretty to look at...something akin to the aesthetics of the Jedi Temple back home...but completely black vice the Temple's ivory color scheme.  Needless to say, this was not what any of us expected.  The next event was stranger still.  We were ushered to an open area of the compound by the transport crew and told to wait...simply wait.  The transport crew promptly returned to their shuttle and lifted off.

So there we stood, looking as dumbfounded as kids are prone to be given the circumstances.  There was no one else inside the massive compound; no movement, and once the noise of the shuttle's engines faded away, no sound outside that of the planet's natural rhythm.  Some of my fellow orphans began asking questions of the others, curiosity getting the better of their general distrust of each other, but you could tell that the underlying emotion we all felt was fear.  I kept my thoughts to myself and simply did as I was told.  I knew whoever was in charge of this place wouldn't leave us standing out here all day and night, or at least that is what I kept telling myself.  I did not have to wait long though, before my musings were interrupted.

They came out of the compound's buildings scattered around our drop zone; first only at a trickle, then a flood of black robed humanoids all marching toward us.  They marched in silence, hooded heads revealing nothing of who they were.  We quickly found ourselves surrounded by a sea of black bodies...there must have been over a hundred of them.  I heard one of the other orphans start crying at this point and honestly couldn't blame him, I was barely keeping my own apprehension from getting the best of me.  No one moved, we stared at them and they merely stood there.  Minutes past, then came a shuffling of robes within the black wall before us.  The wall was at least ten bodies deep, so what was causing the commotion was not clear at first, but then I began to catch the glimpses of white.

These glimpses of white eventually resolved into a white robe that continued to part the sea of black as it made its way toward us.  Uniform with the rest of the group, the humanoid who wore this robe was also hooded.  Its wearer finally broke through the wall of black and came to stand before us.  The hood seemed to take us all in, scrutinizing us...weighing us.  Then, at some unheard signal, the white robe raised his hands to his head and along with all the other hooded humanoids, pulled the hood down.  A quick glance revealed that those wearing the black robes were humanoids from a wide range of species:  humans, cyborgs, Twi'leks, Muraluka, Zabrak, Rattataki, Mirialan ,and I even saw what I thought I would only ever see in historical holos...a Sith pureblood.  There were a few others that I didn't recognize, including a blue skinned fellow I would eventually learn to be from the Chiss species.  My amazement at such a wide collection of beings was quickly stunted as a deep voice boomed across the gathering:  "I am Master Rheinhart.", said the armored mask sitting atop the white robe, "Welcome to your new life."
