OOC notes:

I mostly made this while in my previous guild for fun before the launch of SWTOR, to sort of support my characters. I am trying make something that can be used as villains too if anyone wants to use them, in addition to keep them significant enough that they can pose a threat and insignificant enough that they can easily be overlooked. I am intending them to be a few million, which given that Coruscant has a thousand billion people inhabiting it is not very much. Any feedback is most appreciated. :)

Height: 203 cm
Education: Caeyrn Standard B Education, Caeyrn Strategist Education.
Physical appearance: A tall human male with short black hair. He is found to be slightly tanned. His face is a mask of cortosis-weave and wears a voice to make any man cower into submission.
Biography: Raised for combat, started studying the Caeyrn Standard B Education at age six and continued to study the Caeyrn Strategist Education at age ten. Finished his studies at age eighteen and joined the Republican army. At a young age he received many medals in battles against the Sith, including the Republic Medal of Honour when he together with a handful of other troopers and jedi saved thousands of innocents from the onslaught of the Sith at Gulhim Six.

He had three kids with his lover Helene. They named their kids Aldric, Jhared and Elisa, all were brought up in Caeyrn fashion. Marcus continued his career however, reaching the rank of Captain by the age of thirty, while earning himself an astounding reputation somewhat akin to a hero.

He has systematically managed on a large number of battlefields to end the fighting in his favour, with the Sith running for their lives and surrendering. Contrary to Caeyrn customs he has shown the ability to convince Sith soldiers to fight for the Republic, whereas the usual result would have been death.

When the Sith invaded the Queen of the Core the shock was planet-wide. Many of the else exceptional outer defences of the Marcelian District fell in the first hours, and to increase chaos the president of the Caeyrn Corporation was assassinated. Different pockets of Caeyrn defenders had bound themselves together all over the district, but the leadership was killed or virtually non-existent until one dreadful moment for the Sith. Accordingly in the heat of battle Helene was killed and died in Marcus' arms despite his attempts to defend her. Afterwards Marcus assumed leadership over the soldiers in the district and ordered the outer parts razed to the ground. It killed hundreds of thousands, but it put the Sith on the run, at least on this front.

After the battle he was elected President of the Caeyrn Corporation and he retired from the Republic military at rank colonel and age 54.

Mental health: Dangerously loyal to the Republic.
Biography: Raised for combat, started studying the Caeyrn Standard B Education at age six and continued to study the Caeyrn Pilot Education at age ten. Finished his studies at age eighteen and joined the Republican fleet. Through years in service Alaricus quickly rose in stature and rank, at last reaching Admiral. At the end of the war he was charged with destroying a Sith hangar.

The hangar itself was in orbit around a Sith world named Orth Kan, housing Sith military training facilities, but also a significant civilian population. Alaricus had his fleet destroy the hangar and then ordered Orth Kan incinerated from orbit, destroying the Sith, but also the civilians. A third of his fleet committed mutiny. None of those survive. Although not much is known it is believed the Orth Kan system is a smouldering ruin even today.

Alaricus returned victoriously to the core worlds and was allowed to walk free until the Treaty of Coruscant was signed, after which he was condemned for war crimes and sealed deep into the Tomb. Caeyrns revere him as a war hero, while the Republic paints him as a ruthless monster not far from the Sith themselves.

The Marcelian District

Overview of the Marcelian District

One of the more orderly sectors of Coruscant is the Marcelian District or by natives to the planet often just called the "Caeyrn Compound". It entirely owned by the wealthy Caeyrn family from the top of the skyscrapers to the vast underground. It serves as a military complex for the Republic and trains many troops for the front lines.

For that reason law in the Marcelian District is enforced with strict martial response, criminals are kept at bay by the point of a blaster rifle. Bars and entertainment are virtually nonexistent. The entire district is wholly and completely devoted to warfare.

When the Sith Empire invaded the Caeyrn Compound was not a prime target for the invasion, yet it, like the rest of Coruscant got hit hard. The Caeyrns however responded in force. With the whole district virtually being an urban fortress they continued the fighting even after the Treaty of Coruscant was signed. Regardless the might of the Sith left much of it in ruins and criminals now flood the underground. It is only a question of time before the Caeyrns restore order on their property.

Caeyrn Corporation Headquarters

The urban citadel of the Caeyrn family is the headquarters for its Corporation. The lowest quarters are made out of workspace for the Corporation, thereof the less military related activities performed by servants. The mid section is made up out of diplomatic, political and intelligence departments' administration. At the top section the prime administration takes part in the form of the corporation's president's office, three council chambers and an internal Caeyrn military administration. The building has several receptions, each decorated with a single statue of a Caeyrn war hero, though none recent due to lack of space, instead those have been built at the academy to inspire students.

Purely from the view of a defender the building is a magnificent piece of art, having massively strong exteriors, and with several support pillars (including emergency) should some break, every possible angle of the outside is covered by graphic display and live recording. Almost invisible cannons carpet the tower, making it a complete suicide run to go near. On the top of the building sits a massive cannon able to blasts its way into orbit, although not as powerful as the one on Aldaraan it is still able to take out Star Destroyers. To add to its sheer qualities in construction the Caeyrns arm it to the teeth with soldiers, and not the bad kind either, each and everyone of them are a part of the elite and able to respond in minutes to a threat. All in all the building is a death trap for any direct assault, and able to withstand orbital bombardment, proving so during the sacking of Coruscant.

Residential Areas

Around the Corporation Headquarters and the Academy spans the vast residential areas of the Caeyrn District. Remarkably it is the place with the least commerce in the entirety of Coruscant, having absolutely zero shops. Instead the Caeyrn family get food and drinks from local supply centres, with the Corporation controlling all traffic to and from them.

The residences themselves are not the most attractive homes, unless the planet is attacked by the Sith. While most of them had been shot to cinders at the Battle of Coruscant, many new already stand with a callous militaristic display. They have no windows, instead their shell is covered with metal and guard posts.

Inside they only have the bare minimum you need to live, no art, no decoration. The residential areas were designed almost as a long range of urban bunkers able to withstand most punishment. The cold display of might goes on for miles, making even some of the most hardened invaders question whether or not it would be sane to attack this place. And if history is any indication, then it is not.

Caeyrn Academy

Being one of the finest military schools in the galaxy the Caeyrn Academy is also one of the largest, housing and educating millions of students. Students arrive here shortly after birth and will spend most of their childhood and teenage years in this massive facility. Learning is done through a very competitive environment mixed with high quality demands. The Caeyrn family decide the education of an individual Caeyrn based on talent, loyalty and skill. Only Caeyrns are permitted access to the Academy on a daily basis, however it has happened that journalists, politicians, military officials and otherwise has been allowed a look.

The academy is massive enough to include up to hundreds of standard Caeyrn residential towers, and it is defended even better. It has ample of outposts, open areas can be sealed off, anti-air guns are placed all over, and of course a large amount of students willing to spill blood. Aside of that the construct is sturdy enough to withstand direct planetary bombardment, with its shields and armour.

Apart from being a school the academy also serves a spaceport for shuttles, fighters, carriers and a few dreadnoughts. The most notable ship currently docked is the Armageddon - Alaricus' flagship.

The Undercity

When the Caeyrn family first arrived to Coruscant the Undercity of the Marcelian District was the first place within their control. As they gained further and further control, and at last buried their presumed criminal past the Undercity became residence like everywhere else. Surprisingly it is one of the only places on Coruscant where living in the Undercity does not mean you are poor or criminal, it simply means the Caeyrn family decided you should live there.

After the sacking of Coruscant, the Undercity has become flooded with criminals, poor and other lowlife. Having had their resources too strained to kick them out in the past years the Caeyrn family has chosen to ignore it for the time being.

Recently however the Corporation has decided to exercise their rights to clean out the Undercity of the Marcelian District. Originally it was presumed they could simply march in and retake it, yet the new residences has yielded unexpected resistance with support from the Hutts. The Caeyrns now fight a literal war against crime in their home, trying to sway the odds in their favour while the Senate turns a blind eye.

The Caeyrn Corporation

Name: Caeyrn Corporation
President: Marcus Caeyrn.
Description: A wealthy corporation that owns the entirety of the Marcelian District, even the undercity. They have turned it into a Republic military facility, training soldiers and lending hangar space for the fleet. Other than that the Caeyrn Corporation mostly lives by investments into other companies. Rumours has it that the Corporation also has a steady hand in the criminal underground outside the Marcelian district, but such is dismissed by the company as notorious slander.

The goal of the company

In the earliest records the company was founded on the basis of three primary goals:

- Fund the Republic military with quality manpower through military education.
- Serve as a representative and union for the Caeyrn family* in political and social matters.
- Serve as a guardian of galactic peace through preventive measures.

The goals on which the Caeyrn Corporation was formed has not been changed for hundreds of years.

* Not an actual intimate family. It is used as a synonym for their common cultural background.

The president

The Caeyrn family believe their first president to have been Marcellus Caeyrn, and all afterwards to be his successor. Thus every president of the Caeyrn family is male as per tradition. The job of the president is the executive matters of the Corporation from matters of finance to politics. Often he is viewed as a man with limitless power within the Corporation, and he can be if he did not have to deal with politics from the three councils of the Caeyrn Corporation. A strong or particularly crafty president can juggle around them to get what he wants, while one who has taken a wrong step will find himself a puppet, probably for the rest of his days.

The three councils

Directly below the president of the Caeyrn Corporation are the members of the three councils. Common for all councils are that they have a hundred members each all chosen by the council based on merit, loyalty and intrigue. The first council is entirely male and consists of, usually, military officers. The second council is entirely female and usually consists of spymasters and politicians. The third council exclusively consists of teachers on the Caeyrn Academy and are thus of mixed genders. While the three councils sometimes bicker with company politics they are all extremely loyal to the family, that much is certain. Aside of that, being a member of either council is a considerable privilege with considerable power attached.

Notable income sources

The most obvious income source, but not the largest comes from the Republic Military itself, as all Caeyrns have their salary from service transferred directly to the Caeyrn Corporation. In turn this also makes Caeyrns extremely reliant on the company when not serving. The corporation also earns considerable revenue from, mostly unspecified, donators, some of which goes to the daunting sums of billions of credits.

The Cortosis Fist

Whenever the Caeyrn Corporation needs anything done they call upon the Cortosis Fist. These are the finest soldiers the family has to offer, not just that but also the most notorious and cold-hearted men. This special operations team always stand a thousand man strong in each division, equipped with the absolute best gear the galaxy has to offer, illegal or not, this combination makes them an unsettling match for even a Jedi or Sith.

Officially the Cortosis Fist has nothing to do with the Caeyrn Corporation, but rather consider themselves well-funded liberators and protectors of the galaxy. While the actions of the Fist remains in the shadows, it is suspected they have carried out the use of biological warfare, genocide, torture, kidnapping and terrorism. The list is thought to be longer, but there is little to no evidence of their involvement, even in the suspected cases.

The Marcelian District Guard

A decorated regiment of the Republic, more specifically the government of the Marcelian District: The Caeyrn Corporation. Their primary objective is to protect and keep order in the Marcelian District. ** work in progress **

History of the Caeyrn Corporation

The exodus

While historical records are somewhat unclear in this decade, it is believed that the Caeyrn family first saw light on the planet of Ithenia in the Outer Rim. The native population was either non-existent or were the humans who named themselves Ithenians. From what is known their civilization spanned throughout their entire system, had a planet-wide democracy for its few million inhabitants and were highly pacifistic.

The Galactic Republic first encountered this small planet at around 2634 BTC and while their offer of entrance to the galactic community was ultimately refused by the Ithenians, they accepted the new technology from trade with open arms. In less than five hundred years the crafty inhabitants managed to create a massive profit from export.

This however drew the eye of the rising Sith Empire that had already started annexing lesser systems. At the time the Dark Lord of the Sith was not looking for a direct conflict so instead sent a diplomatic delegation demanding tribute, however like with the Galactic Republic the Ithenians simply refused.

It seemed to be what caused the Dark Lord of the Sith to declare war on the Ithenians, aiming to enslave their population instead. Without a fight the planet was occupied and the senate killed, however the act of doing so did not impress the natives at all. In fact they went on as if nothing had happened at all, ignoring the Sith and their new laws.

As a response the Dark Lord started creating forced labour camps, yet the Ithenians protested against it – it resulted in a massacre. The last act is probably what caused the sudden uproar among the Ithenians and a strange wave of jingoism sprung forth in the else peaceful population.

Out of seemingly nowhere a man only known as Dictator Marcellus or 'Lord Protector of the People' led this new extremely aggressive rebel campaign against the Sith, taking the overconfident invaders completely by surprise in several battles. Eventually he ensured control of several key strategic points on the planet.
At that point the the Dark Lord of the Sith decided to make an example: he ordered the planet glassed and a blockade set to ensure no one escaped death.

When the bombardment began the Ithenians started to panic as people died in the millions around them. Knowing that staying on Ithenia would doom his people Marcellus ordered the people to load onto whatever spaceships they had and wait for his order. When the order finally came the Ithenians fired off into space with several suicide ships colliding with the large Sith ships causing chaos. The chaos allowed a few led by Marcellus to escape into hyperspace at coordinates 0-0-0 - Coruscant.

A new home

Out of the about thirty million people on Ithenia less than a hundred thousand survived, and those who did was without a home. Marcellus did not waste time though and ordered the Ithenians to land on Coruscant in the district that was once called Gorglarg's Corner, a place rampant with crime and lowlife, even in the upper levels. All ships were sold and Marcellus used the money to create the Caeyrn Corporation. The man was intent on keeping his people together as one despite the city pulling each and everyone in different directions, and mostly he succeeded through a passionate speech.

Applauding the former Ithenians took on their new name, the Caeyrns, meaning simply "Those who will return". Now no one would care, but back then the Caeyrns were filled to the brim with anger at the slaughter of their people, and enough to do just about anything to get vengeance.

It would not be in their lifetime though, even if the new family quickly started to subdue the criminal underworld in the district, only to use its resources to strengthen the Caeyrn Corporation and buy more and more land in the district itself, until at last after two hundred years when there was not a scrap of land or air that did not belong to them.

Dictator Marcellus eventually died at age 87. His heir was elected by a council chosen by him, and as a result the heir inherited the Caeyrn Corporation. In the end this caused 'president', as in President of the Caeyrn Corporation, to be the dominant title of the Caeyrn leader, until dictator was only used in ciphers.

Strangely the law enforcement on Coruscant did not bother with the Caeyrns when they were weak, and when they finally owned all of the District it was realized that even prosecuting the family would cause a full-scale revolt, the cases were put on ice and later never mentioned where ears could hear again.

Over these few hundred years the Caeyrns had undergone an immense cultural shift, not just in beliefs but in sheer behaviour. Where they had once been warm and friendly they were cold and callous, and where they had once been peaceful the district of Gorglarg's Corner had a higher deathtoll over the last two hundred years than any other on Coruscant.

With the district under control the family finally decided to petition the Galactic City Authority for two things, that the President of the Caeyrn Corporation be made mayor of the district and that the district was renamed into the Marcelian District, named after the local hero Marcellus. Even with having all the citizens of the district sign the petition it lasted twenty years before it got approved.

Facing themselves with having a strong economy the Caeyrn family started to aim for vengeance: an army began to be raised through the opening of the Caeyrn Academy, and through the academy propaganda easily brainwashed even those who would question.

Slowly the family was evolving into what it is today, and finally with the Great Hyperspace War they would have their revenge.

Remember Ithenia

During the Great Hyperspace War the Caeyrn family finally got to fight back against the Sith, it was not only profitable for them but it allowed them to infiltrate the Republic military to gain power and influence over it.

Throughout the war the family gained a reputation for being ruthless, cynical and brutal in their ways of waging war. They were especially  callous with the loss of civilian lives, only caring if they could be held hostage against the old Empire, but as that was not the case it often led to genocide or slave labor.

The Caeyrn Corporation was particularly active with its won power and influence in the final stages of the war as it together with several other organizations and influential people support the notion of exterminating the Sith completely. To this day the family still backs the decision of doing so up and continues with the stance today.

As the war drew to its close the Caeyrn soldiers were given one infamous command, not from the Republic but from the president of the Caeyrn Corporation: "Remember Ithenia", a code-name for laying waste to everything and everyone in their path. It surpassed every other order until the job was done for the Caeyrn family, having the Caeyrns continue the massacre on the Sith even if the Chancellor of the Republic told the military to put down their weapons.

When there was nothing but ruins left the Caeyrn family truly thought the Empire and every Sith was dead. It proved to be dead wrong.

The Return of the Sith and the Galactic Cold War

Three-hundred years before the Treaty of Coruscant Revan betrayed the Republic and created another Sith Empire and unlike much of the Republic military at the time the Caeyrn family did not defect. Through the hundreds of years that had passed since the last great war the Caeyrn family had refined the doctrine and gathered power, as a part of the refinements the Caeyrns now considered them themselves protectors of the Republic and would not conform to any betrayal. If the way the Republic was ruled had to be supported by them it would be by a coup, or a formal change in the Senate.

However, the Caeyrn family had been supporting Revan right up until his betrayal and the betrayal meant that their soldiers stood alone against the rest of Revan's traitors. They were slaughtered and the Corporation was left standing back to respond to the call to arms against the new Sith Empire with reserves.

The war was long and tiring for the Republic, but for the Corporation it allowed them to refine tactics and strategies that had not been truly used in large scale galactic war for generations. In response to this war they issued a crucial and project to begin: Implementation of training to combat force users.

And while Revan ultimately ended the war he had begun the true enemy showed itself a little less than 300 years later. The true Sith Empire had returned and the Republic crumbled as a result. Not only by betrayal but also overwhelming Imperial force. Unlike with Revan, this time the Caeyrn family was ready for war and more powerful than it had even been, even counting when the Ithenians were independent.

As the Republic fought for its existence the Caeyrn family used its agents to infiltrate the Empire with spies and support insurgencies on their conquered planets. However the war was long and bloody, the Caeyrn family in particular committing atrocities in an accelerating rate towards the Treaty of Coruscant.

When the treaty was finally signed after the Sacking of Coruscant several Caeyrn official were arrested, stripped of rank and sent to rot in various Republic prisons due to war crimes. And while the Caeyrn Corporation officially support the Senate they disapprove of the treaty, seeing it as a stain upon the Republic, but unlike many they stay loyal to the cause.

In the shadows however the Caeyrn Corporation fights the Empire wherever they can and as a result the notorious Cortosis Fist as seen more action in thirty years than in entire centuries.

Miscellaneous

The Caeyrn Doctrine

From a young age every Caeyrn is brainwashed with the Caeyrn Doctrine, and it encompass how you should behave, fight, live and think. Most notably the Caeyrn Doctrine suppress emotions so an individual becomes cold and scarily alike a psychopath, most Caeyrns are pushed to the point where they feel almost no guilt, no remorse, no fear, no happiness... To the point where the only things they truly feel are from external sources, like pain or pleasure.

A Caeyrn become like an ant in the hive, one soldier among many and all with the same ideals, all with the same behaviour. A cold distant stance towards everything and everyone, and willing to hurt, torture or kill anything in their path. It is because of the doctrine that traitors among the Caeyrns are so few, in fact so few they are almost negligible, and yet every single one is hunted down and killed.

In addition it is also speculated that the doctrine is one of the reasons why the Caeyrns are very much against having their family members sent to the Jedi for training, as while their teachings seem alike they are fundamentally different. A jedi is at peace with his or her emotions while a Caeyrn suppress them until they are no longer aware if they are sad or happy. In retrospect it may also be why the Caeyrn's have not attempted to fully train their own force wielders, they need a connection to their feelings they do not have.

Regardless of its flaws the doctrine remains a formidable weapon against just about anyone the Caeyrns would face, it ensures discipline and loyalty in even the most dreadful cases. Through it comes some of the best soldiers in the galaxy, yet also without any morals at all. Caeyrns do not question the deaths of millions, they follow orders as to them civilian or soldier makes no difference when they are shooting. An officer should thus be careful of what he or she asks of them, for they will do exactly anything, and take orders very literal.

It is uncertain how the Caeyrns came up with such an efficient doctrine to train their family with, however it has been questioned several times whether or not this should be legal or not by external sources. However like most things opposing the Caeyrns the protesters suddenly found family members dead and blackmailed. Concerns has not been voiced publicly in over a century now though.

The Terror gas

During the Great Hyperspace War the first signs of the dangerous biological weapon commonly known as the terror gas was recorded. It was first discovered in use by Captain Merlovich who had been ordered to initiate an orbital bombardment of the world of Naarkan, a Sith metropolis planet, however as he arrived the population itself had already ripped the entire infrastructure apart and the military had turned on itself. Pondering what had caused this the captain ordered the bombardment delayed until investigations had been made. He sent down a recon team, but soon they turned against themselves again, screaming up about monsters and betrayal, turned clinically insane. Worried about this development he sent down another team with environmental suits, and the samples they brought back proved the atmosphere was filled with an unknown gas. Keeping the samples for further studies Naarkan was glassed and is ultimately uninhabited even today.

Questions about the gas rose over the centuries as it had become obvious for scientists that the gas had not developed naturally, it was manufactured as a weapon, likewise it became apparent that deploying this to a whole planet would be an immense task requiring a lot of resources none but the members of the Republic and the Sith had at the time. Due to the Sith civil war they could not be ruled out on having destroyed their own world, but it was much more likely the gas was developed and produced in the Republic, under the nose of the authorities.

The symptoms caused by the terror gas is mostly paranoia of extreme levels, so high in fact that some die of fear the moment they are induced with a high enough dose of it, before the immediate dying however many might suffer permanent mental health issues even if they have been perfectly healthy beforehand. A low enough dose only cause temporary paranoia though, but it is enough to make this weapon very dangerous.

Since the Great Hyperspace War it has been recorded in use over a hundred times, some mere incidents of breaking down corporations, others cities and very few entire worlds. And the worlds are perhaps the worst, for while you can help cities and corporations, then the worlds start to consume and destroy themselves, putting the death tolls terrifyingly high.

Many suspect that it is in fact the Cortosis Fist who make use of this horrifying weapon, but there is no proof and absolutely no witnesses.

The Armageddon

This infamous battlecruiser was the flagship of the equally infamous Alaricus Caeyrn. It was armed with several large guns, a carrier bay and the most dreaded of all, the Apocalypse Cannon. Much of the offensive fire power and defensive measures on the ship was sacrificed for that one single instalment. Through a single massive shot the Apocalypse Cannon is able to annihilate entire capital ships or lay down a fiery wrath upon whole continents.

While the cannon requires a substantial time to recharge it is nonetheless extremely lethal as witnessed at Orth Kan where Alaricus unleashed its full might, bombarding the planet with no less than thirty-seven shots, leaving it a burning hell with the atmosphere itself firing up. The loss of millions of civilians to this merciless superweapon earned the man a life sentence in the Tomb and the weapon to be outlawed in the Republic.

It is uncertain who exactly made the Armageddon battlecruiser and the Apocalypse cannon, but from what is known is that the Caeyrn Corporation insisted to keep the Armageddon in their hangar instead of scrapping it, suggesting that it may have the Corporation funding it. Regardless of this no one has spoken out about it, either not putting much value into it or fearing what such a corporation may do to their relatives.
