Anaris

The Basics

Full Name: Luxelen Lennart
Nicknames: Lux
Legacy: The Libertine Legacy (yay!)
Ship: "The Libertine"
Alts: Republic side: Anaris, Astrid-Lynn.  Empire: Samina
Saga rank: Veteran

Alignment: Republic
Class: Smuggler/Gunslinger
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: mid-20s
Hair: light brown with chestnut highlights
Skin: olive
Eyes: pale gray
Height: 5'4"
Weight: Medium build for her height and frame, leaning on the slender side

Place of Residence: Her ship when traveling, the Corellian outback when at home in her father's ranch/base of operations
Place of Birth: Corellia

Relatives: The Lennart clan:  Father, three sisters (Anaris, Cordelia, Samina), two uncles
Enemies: Two rival 'Families':  The Tellums and The Marfans
Allies: Saga, select members of the Republic, Mirilians, her "Always and Never" Clyde, Carlo Riggs (Corso), Pierre Dubreton, her Wookie crew member, various underlings and minions that work for her father

Occupation: Bootlegger of wines and spirits (her 'legit' job), transporter of pharmaceutical goods/performance-enhancing drugs/stimulants, escaped slaves smuggler
Crafting: biochem

Appearance: Lux is of relatively medium build for her 5'4" frame.  She has brown, wavy hair down to the middle of her back.  Her features are soft, yet accentuated by sharp, defined eyebrows. She has a button nose, pouty lips, a heart-shaped face, bright eyes, dark olive skin, medium brown hair.  Here's a screenshot of her in-game appearance:

Fashion of Choice: She's got the space cowboy thing going on while at work, tends to wear mostly black apparel.  Prefers wearing leather leggings, boots, hats, bustiers, coats and jackets, well-crafted holsters that look more pretty than functional...  However, she cleans up very well, clad in elegant, sexy dresses and gowns when the occasion calls for it or when she's spending a night out on the town in a cantina.  While she's got a rather rebellious fashion sense, her wardrobe is usually well-constructed and high end, with the exception of the vintage pieces that belonged to her Mirilian mentor.
Armor of Choice: Occasionally will don a laserproof corset, but otherwise no armor to speak of.
Weapons of Choice: Her blasters, and a lasso!

Special Abilities: If she can avoid getting too close to her targets, she will! She's not much for physical contact so will always shoot from a distance, ask questions later.

    Alignment: Chaotic Good/ Republic
Motivations:   Anger her father! But really, she's against slavery and trafficking of sentient beings.  She's also very much devoted to protecting refugees and other conflict casualty victims. And...well, adventure! She loves adventure, an adrenaline junkie if you will.
Disposition: A nihilist with a hint of sarcasm, but generally friendly.
Outlook: An optimist at heart, a pessimist at face value.

Religion/Philosophy: "If you don't have something you're willing to die for, you really don't deserve to live."  And, "A happy life consists of something to do, something to love, and something to look forward to. Sometimes all three things can be fulfilled with the same thing, but not always.  Either way, it's okay."

Positive Personality Traits: Socially she's witty, humorous, friendly, sometimes flirty, laid back.  Professionally she comes across as having a very 'get the job done and get out' attitude, reliable, loyal to those she deems worthy of her trust and friendship, sympathetic to the refugee cause, sympathetic to slavery abolition particularly of nonhuman species.  Deep down she's a softie at heart but she'll be damned if she shows it publicly.
Negative Personality Traits: Rebellious, short-tempered, might hold a grudge or seven, has serious issues with authorities, fits the femme fatale sterotype, can be snarky, her morality is sometimes questionable...
Misc. Quirks: Her ship always has fresh flowers on board.  She's an equestrian.  She can play the mandolin and the viol.  She has a habit of sliding her pinkie over her sharp, well-defined eyebrows when thinking or plotting. Likes to play with the rim of her hat when she's wearing one.  She will firt with someone for either sport, to earn their trust, out of boredom, or to get a job done...but hardly ever means it.  Can easily switch between laid back gunslinger to proper lady of an Alderaan House at the drop of a hat, part of her job after all!  Can mingle with all sorts of people if the job calls for it.  Oh, and she probably has a drinking problem...

Likes: Mirilians, Clyde, flowers, gardening, horseback riding, horses, vintage jewelry, playing the viol, drinking (gin, scotch, wine).
Dislikes: Drug addicts (even though pharmaceutical and stimulant drug dealing is part of her business!), slavery, organized crime (even though, again, it's her business!), Sith, the Empire, people who whine, list keeps growing...

      Favorite Foods: Stews, broths, ryshcate!
Favorite Drinks: Gin, Whyren's Reserve, the occasional fine, vintage wine
      Favorite Colors: Black

Hobbies: Horseback riding, playing the viol, gardening, collecting vintage stuff

        Played by What Famous Person:
I thought Kristin Kreuk at first:

But I've heard from more than one person that the character looks and acts like a young Gabrielle Anwar:

So, er, one of the two!  =D

        Theme Songs/playlist:
"This Life" by Curtis Stigers, "Sweet Dreams (are made of these)" cover by Emily Browning, "Ain't No Easy Way" "Weight of the World" and "Rifles" all by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, "The Chauffeur" cover by Sleepthief, "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, "Paradise" by Coldplay,  "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack, "Nothin' But a Good Time" by Poison, "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing" by Chris Isaac, "Under the Gun" by Sisters of Mercy, "Can't Get Enough" by Suede, "The Libertine" by Patrick Wolf, and "Libertine" by Adam and the Ant!

        History:
The famed frontiersman bootlegger Jonas Lennart's young wife died of childbirth complications when their fourth and last daughter was born.  Jonas found himself a single father with four young daughters to raise, a thriving bootlegging business to run, and a series of complicated situations to overcome (from the corporate to the criminal, and everything in between)...

But with the help of both his employees and the various women of ill repute he occasionally bedded, the girls were brought up to be fine young women.  Fine young women depending on who you ask...

Alas, all four took very different paths.

This is the saga of the Sister Who (allegedly) Kept One Foot in the Business, and Another in the Galaxy.  This is the story of the middle daughter.  The middle daughter in more ways than one.

        Dear Cordelia,

I trust my missive finds you well.  I guess you could say that you've won this round.  Clearly, I'll be doing as you requested and sending you periodic letters.  I still don't understand why you've an aversion to using holocalls like mother did.  I'm going to assume you just want to keep mom's tradition alive and write letters.  I'll indulge you...

I'm off to Ord Mantell to deliver to a cantina there.  And, as you know, I didn't leave on the best of terms with Daddy.  I just can't bear the thought of everything he's hidden from us.  When I found out about the....ugh I can't even write about it right now.  I just can't.

It was sad to say goodbye to you, Cord.  I wish you didn't have to stay back in the ranch all by yourself.  Well, not by yourself, as you've got plenty of people around.  But still, must be lonely.  I'm gone.  Anaris is gone.  Sam is....well, daddy says she's dead to him, so...

I know deep down you believe that Sam will come back home.  I don't think she will.  And even if she wanted to, she wouldn't.  Out of pride.   You know her.  She's the most stubborn of us all...

Off to Ord Mantell, I go...  Take care, Cord.

        Love,

        Your sister Lux.

PS. You really should reconsider using a holocall.

        Dear Cordelia,

Thanks again for your letter, it was uplifting considering the place I'm in.   To answer your question, Ord Mantell is a mess.  I don't know which way is up, and business is mediocre.  Those people don't want booze, they want food.  They can't be drinking on an empty stomach!

It was tough... I found myself torn up inside by both the refugees from the conflict, and by the separatists themselves.  Well, let me rephrase that, I felt for the separatist sympathizers.  They do believe in their cause.  And I happen to have a soft spot for causes, much to my demise.  I ended up helping both sides, not in the struggle itself, but the victims that resulted from the struggle.  I did the best I could.  I even found myself in a hospital for orphan children and helping with the relief effort...  It's tough times in Ord Mantell.  I wish I could do more...

Upon arrival, I ended up getting my ship stolen by that jerk Skavok, but in the process I made a new friend.  His name is Carlo Riggs, and he's joined my crew.  I should've never trusted Skavok...

Well, Carlo and I got a lead.  Apparently Skavok is somewhere in Coruscant.  So that's where we're headed next.   I have a few deliveries to make to Dealer's Den anyway...  Should be...fun.

Take care, Cord.  I'll write soon, once I get to Coruscant.

        Love,

        ~Lux

PS.  Daddy still mad at me?

        Dear Cord,

I'm in Coruscant and in one piece. Skavok still has my ship, but I've made new friends while here.  And seen some old ones...  Remember one of my exes, the Mirilian cantina owner?  Well, I bumped into him while taking care of a little thievery problem down in the Black Sun territory.  (Now, before you freak out that I ventured to those seedy parts, remember I've been traveling with Carlo....who by the way is really handsome, if only you used holocalls I'd show him to you!)

Anyway, things didn't go quite as planned, but we managed to get out of that mess just fine.  I even got to help the Republic, if you can believe that.  I'm sure Anaris would be shocked, and proud....but mostly shocked.

Also, thanks for talking to Dad for me.  I've agreed to help him distribute the spirits down in Nar Shaddaa on his behalf.  He thinks I'll have better luck than him, seeing as...well, I'm kind of hot, and all those cantina managers are pigs.  It'll be a piece of cake.

Take care, Cord.  Write to you soon...

        Love,

        ~Lux

        Dear Cordelia,

I need to stop dating cantina owners.  I mean, I know it's sort of in my line of work so hard to miss them, but... Oh dear goodness, I was down in the Red Light District in Nar Shaddaa and guess whose cantina I walked into?  Yes, him.  Remember him?  That didn't go so well, and he said the only way he'd take my shipment was if I we made up.  As if!  While I don't have a problem with Cyborgs, he is one /bad/ Cyborg and I want nothing to do with him.

Luckily I've made a new friend, who's also in the business.  Well, not the liquor business, but he's in imports and exports so to speak.  I think he's a potential ally.  And Cord, he's so your type.  Handsome in that sly, bon vivant way.  I'll have to introduce you two, at some point, if he ever goes to Corellia.  His name is Pierre, and I think we'll be working together often.  He's agreed to help me with the Nar Shaddaa deliveries.

But first....I need to test him.  Don't worry, Cord, I'll try not to have -too- much fun doing that... But boy, do I have a good scheme lined up, a 'lovely' surprise for him...

        Write me soon, miss you.

        Love,

        ~Lux

        Dear Cordelia,

I may have gotten myself into some sort of strange business enterprise.  Delivering dolls.  Yes.  Dolls.   I bought you one, it's enclosed in the package this letter's attached to.  I hope you like her...  I named her Mina.

I'll tell you more about it when I've more details.  Pierre and I are very suspicious, but very intrigued.  Don't worry, I'll be careful.  And I gutted one of them to be sure I wasn't transporting some sort of contraband I'd be against transporting, like spice.

Write you soon.  Take care, Cord.

        Love,

        ~Lux

PS.  Seems Ana's been lurking the Saga holocall.  She's such a weird one, that one.  I bet she's trying to keep tabs on me.

PSS.  Heading to Tatooine.  Need any beauty products from there?  Are you still using their micronized sand facial scrub?

        Dear Cordelia,

I've had a tough few days.  I....made some decisions that I can't help but question now.  For starters, I killed an innocent.  I had to.  She was begging for me to end her life.  It's a long story, but I'll paraphrase by saying that she was a freedom fighter for endangered species who got kidnapped and held hostage by a mad, cruel scientist who then proceeded to inject her with incurable diseases.

I didn't want to do it, Cord.  I really didn't.  It hurt me deeply to have to, but I couldn't look away from her pleading eyes without fulfilling her request.  I know if I were in her shoes I wouldn't want to live either.

Carlo got very upset at me for fulfilling her death wish.  And he may be right.  But what was I to do?  I couldn't just abandon her in that state.  It was a difficult moral dilemma that I'm still struggling with.  It wasn't an easy decision.  Do you think I made a grave mistake?  Was I wrong?  Tell me, your counsel means a lot to me, even though it's too late in this case....

I'm not much for vengeance, but I did avenge her death and made good with the promise to her that I'd help her cause.  I intend on keeping that promise.  She and I had very similar beliefs...  Just different ways of executing them.

I'm sorry to depress you with this letter, Cord.  I promise the next one won't be as sad.  Take care of yourself.

        Love,

        ~Your sister Lux
