This wonderful place that Saga calls home ain't free, and every two years we have to find a way to pay for it.  This time around, its my turn to arrange for that.  So I have created a Saga paypal account and have set it up to receive donations.  So I'm asking for anyone who can spare it, to throw a couple coins into the hat to keep us up and running.  The more people who pitch in, the less each of us has to pitch in. 

Our total cost for the website is approximately $210 for 2 years. 

In addition to this, I'd like to pick up the tab for the mumble server, so Raven will have to tell me what that costs.

Thanks for organizing this Menemas.  After a bit, an update on how we're doing would be nice.  I know folks would prefer to remain anonymous in their contributions (which is why we set it up this way) but a general sense of if we're hitting the target would be useful.

Unrelated, but a lot of good folks have put up the costs for Saga over the years and we could probably run indefinitely without ever putting up a "donate" button, but the net result would be that one or two people were quietly picking up the whole tab.  And that's not cool.  Raven set up the Mumble account on his own dime and never expected anything, which is all the more remarkable considering he was new to the guild at the time.  So big thanks there, and a bit of Saga history in the mix.

I've got to say, my investment in a lifetime "account" with Saga is one of the best gaming investments I ever made.  It's probably tied for first place with cancelling my preorder for FFXIV. =)

Ok!  We easily reached the necessary funding for the website.  So what remains now is a bit more to pay for the mumble server.....which runs approximately $13/month.  From what we've recieved, we can cover costs so far....but a bit more to cover future costs ((for mumble)) will only help!

I thank each and every one of you for chipping in and helping us maintain this community that means so much to us.  A few more donations will keep us going for a good long time......

I won't guarantee it at this time....but I think if we all pout at her in JUST the right way....Nina would summon beer for everyone who donated............

Will the paypal account continue? Reason I ask is because we can't afford to give anything atm, but in a month's time, it'll be no problem. Just curious about those of us who would like to help, but can't right yet.    I know it's no problem to you guys, but it'd still be nice to help out in the near future.

What I would say is don't sweat it. Contribute your bright shiney trouble-causing self to the boards and that's more then enough of a donation for all of us to handle.

Just a quick update. As Meanie states, we've successfully paid for the website again. But we're not quite covered for the Mumble server. Especially as we grow into a new game (GW2!) and we're going to see it used for different platforms, it really seems to me it is becoming Saga's server, and I don't think any one person should be left carrying it.

Anyway, I totally appreciate that people are in different circumstances. So if you're not in a position to donate that's cool. There are many ways to support Saga. But if you can do a little something on this front,  please do.

How much are we looking to collect for the Mumble server?
2 years worth so it matches up with the Website or one year so we can alternate with collecting between the two each year?

I"m arranging for a 1 year subscription so that the website and mumble payments are due on alternating years, there is also a substantial discount for longer subscriptions.  We can currently cover the 1 year plan, but we'd still owe Raven for what he's already payed.  We can't cover both at the moment, but we're not far from it!  ((about $60)).  Then we'll be set until next spring.

Not sure if anyone wants to give this a try, but it could save us some money. There is a voice-chat program called C3 that is supposed to be great for guilds like ours (multiple games, etc.) and it is completely free with no limit to the amount of users or bandwidth used. If the XO and some of the leadership wants to try it out I think it would be a great add for Saga. I know there might be a headache of switching from Mumble, but this could save us money and be a better product.

C3 Voice Chat

Any opinions on using it can be just dropped right here or started in a different thread in the OOC area on the boards. I'd be more than willing to test it out with some of the leadership so just let me know. Hopefully this is helpful and saves us some money.

UPDATE: I made a test channel to join that has two sub-channels. The channel is called Saga Family and should have 2 sub-channels in it. You can search for it after you download the program.
