Anyone know where I can get a tile map of Middle Earth?

Geeky and creative people--I need some advice.

So we're remodeling our kitchen. That is, we are stripping everything down to the walls and completely rebuilding it. And we'd love to have a Middle Earth-themed tile accent over our stovetop. Or anything else cool and/or geeky. The fossil fish (http://www.eostone.com/applications-backsplashes.html are coming close right now, but we already have a ton of fossils in most rooms of the house (other than my husband and me) and we risk becoming one-note.

We love astronomy, fantasy, electronics, cooking, medieval things (not "cooking medieval things"), and games. Anyone come across anything kitchen-design-wise that they thought was really great?

Edit: Oooh. Just found these: http://toysrevil.blogspot.com/2012/03/star-wars-tiles-by-mojoko-x-flabslab.html  They look a bit hard to get, though...

Oh my....please get these! And share pictures of your kitchen if you do!

Oh man. I totally want a kitchen tiled with those tiles! It would be like a filter for people I bring to my place. If they think it is awesome, they can stay. If they think it is stupid, they are welcome to leave my home.

What a cool project!

A brief perusal found this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/40571838/handcarved-art-tile-lord-of-the-rings

If you really really want a map of Middle Earth, your best bet is to hire an artist and have him/her paint it onto a set of unglazed tiles.

Just as an aside... I did find that there is a company called Middle Earth Tiles in New Zealand. hehe ...and no, they don't appear to have any. ;)

Curse them and their Google-derailing tiny glazed tiles!

The Etsy tiles are very cool, though.

Although we're still looking for tiles, we may do something more generic in that respect. We are, however, planning to mount Sting to the wall over our oven hood (in case we need to do some quick chopping, and, of course, to use its blue glow to warn us if the butcher is stretching his ground beef with goblin parts again). We also bought a couple of prints from these people at Comic Con: http://alaskarobotics.com/   They have a great comic that involves a vegetable steamer's association with space ships and satellite dishes. The kitchen art collection grows!

Yeah, I looked at Middle Earth tiles also...you'd think they almost would have to have made a line of tiles with the proper theme, since the company name and all. Alas.

That Etsy tile design is pretty cool though for sure!

The google phrase you're looking for is...

Custom Tile Murals

This brings up several business that can print any digitized image onto a set of tiles. Don't know the cost or if there are any legality issues considering it is most certainly copyrighted material. And I'll bet money there is someone local enough to you that you could talk to them in person.

Keep us posted on what you decide.  :)
