Appearance: Maria is a curvy, well-seasoned dame.  She has dark brown hair she keeps in a shorter style these days.  Her features are soft and round, with plump lips and thick dark brows. Her skin is neither fair nor olive, somewhere in between.  Just picture Monica Bellucci in Brotherhood of the Wolves and you've an accurate visual.

Fashion of Choice: As the Lady of House Bellisario, she's expected to dress like the regal Countess she is.  Her clothes are finely crafted by Divinity's Reach best tailors, and they're fitted to accentuate her mature curves.  She favors opulent jewelry, always adorning her low neckline with gaudy diamonds and other precious stones.  Ironically, the extravagant jewels disgust her, but to her they are like armor in the upper social circles she navigates.   She will, however, trade in her gowns and corsets for a privateer's suit when going on clandestine operations with her vigilante allies.  She always dresses the part.   She prefers men's tailored suits (fit to her curves)  when conducting business. 

Armor of Choice: None to speak of, but a privateer's suit would do fine if needed.

Positive Personality Traits: Maria is a very compassionate, generous woman.  She's well aware of her current position in life and does not take it for granted.  She uses her resources for good (helping the less fortunate, donating to the orphanage, donating to a women's education fund, volunteering at the hospital, etc) and for what some would deem very bad if they knew (arms dealing, supporting insurgents, separatists, and vigilante militias).  She has the wisdom that comes with experience and the cunning of someone who's gone from rags to riches. She maintains the optimism she learned from Daniel.  The adventurous bravado she learned from Marko.  The endless curiosity she learned from Eamon.  The resilient courage she learned from her Insurgent.  And the quiet dignity and tolerance she learned from Alessandro.  She acknowledges the men in her life so far have shaped her personality, but never in public...    Her merits may be small, but her ambitions are big and her vision even greater. When she speaks of politics or social issues, she adopts a very charming and alluring persona, allowing her to get away with understated criticisms of the monarchy and downright opposition to its governing bodies.  She's very good at wording things well enough to bypass suspicions...  On a good day, she'll show flashes of her sharp wit and light sense of humor.  On a bad day....well...

Negative Personality Traits: Maria is shrouded with controversy.  Rumors abound, ranging from her being a former courtesan to actually running a brothel and acting as madam.  She's also been involved in scandalous allegations here and there and her reputation is questionable in some circles.  There's also that rumor about her killing her second husband...  But he died of a heart attack, how dare they!   She might have developed a slight drinking problem.  She can be impulsive, and such uncontrolled impulsiveness has led her to make some very life-changing decisions in haste.  She can be very cynical and jaded when it comes to people and her faith in Humanity.  Her past still haunts her, that sense of loss.  She considers her relationships with women strained at best, mostly due to her own paranoia and self-deprecating thoughts.  In Maria's eyes, her maid Hanna seems to be the only other woman that she thinks tolerates her or hasn't betrayed her or has an agenda against her. Except for the times she's been entwined with a man of significance in her life, she generally feels alone and out of place.  However, she is very good at hiding this and lying to herself, always coming across as a fiercely independent dame.  Due to some underlying issues, her mood can swing violently from overly happy to mildly depressed.  There are days she won't even get out of bed.  But word of her volatile mood swings would never leave her manor's walls, as only her trusty Hanna is allowed to look after her during any of her episodes.  Lastly, Maria will never be at peace until she finds retribution for Daniel's death in some form or other.  Most would say her idea of justice is unrealistic at best. 

Misc. Quirks: While she has gardeners to attend to her large landscaping needs, she keeps a small area of her estate where she maintains her own rose garden.  Only she tends to her roses, and she's been successful at creating new hybrids.  One of the hybrids, she named Daniel.  Another she named Marko.  And a third, Solange.
Likes: Gardening, needlepoint, baking, reading books on law, social class struggles, and politics. 
Dislikes: The Ministry Guards, class systems, most nobility, injustice.

Favorite Foods: Light fares like steamed fish and fresh fruits.  Baked goods.
Favorite Drinks: Gin. Gin.  More gin.  She loves good wine and champagne, too.
